9200749 No.9200749 [Reply] [Original]

Outfits that are bad, but not necessarily Ita.

something about a coord is rubbing you the wrong way? found a coord that follows all the rules of lolita but still looks like shit? Unsure if something is ita but it still rustles your petticoat?

post it here.
Bonus points for outfit breakdowns of what you hate about it.

Probably extra salty since CDC is one of my dream dresses, but here we go.

Blouse neck straps are twisted. Would have looked better in longsleeve if they were showcasing the colours in the dress. As it stands, looks out of place. Hairbow is the wrong shade of navy (*autism*) and is not as ornate as the dress.

This could go really well with a better headpiece (with gold accents and maybe some dokidoki star accessories or something similar), a longer blouse and perhaps a more formal hairstyle.

Also, boobloafing but I appreciate how hard that can be to avoid in some dresses. :c

I was talking to my friend about how bad she looked and then she came up to talk to us. I don't think I've ever felt so awkward.

The print looked really faded so I thought it was a replica but then she said she got it in closet child? But she also said she coorded with all black because that's what she had. She then tried to justify the black by saying it matched the navy in the print.

>> No.9201092

>>9200749
saw this girl at japan matsuri, it really is obvious how much of a replica that dress is. You can clock it a mile away.
Anyway:
1 - better petticoat
2 - coording it with black was a bold move, and might work if there was any black (and yes, she was wearing black, not navy) in the print, but there isn't, so it doesn't really look cohesive as a coord. Coording it with white would have been better, with printed otks or tights. It was pretty warm that day, she could have gone with ankle socks.
3 - that bow. It isn't the colour of the dress so looks really misplaced.

I actually think her hair is alright and I don't mind the glasses, but black just wasn't the right colour for this coord.

Not 100% sure, I thought it was the special set at first (which is definitely washed out in person). But the design isn't the same. Could just be faded I guess.

The special set has a different bodice to the one she has. I'm afraid that's definitely a replica. There's no way that's /just/ sun damage.

A friend has CDC is this colour too and it's faded in the same way through repeated wear/washing, theirs definitely isn't a replica either. Plus this is the blue colourway, not navy technically

Hence mentioning the design is not the same.

Many things can cause print fading, not just sun damage. Some do with age, unless you store them carefully. Others with washing as anon above mentioned.

It could, of course, be a replica. But I don't know for sure.

I found it on a Taobao shop called Jill's Shop that specialises in punk/goth/vk stuff which is honestly the main reason that I'm a bit unsure if it's okay for lolita or not.
If I do buy it then I will likely make some very small modifications to it as I don't really like what's going on with the ribbon/tie around the neck and think the white straps (or whatever you call it) on the lower back makes it look kind of cheap.

Will have to buy a few of the other things I want from the shop first though to test their quality as that's one thing I hadn't really thought about.

You must be either very well into the plus size range or you believe everything is actually that tiny. I've got massive cow tits and I'm about a size 14 US right now which is planet sized everywhere else. I wear exclusively AP with some other brands and most of my items fit decently well. Though they fit better when I was about a size 10. At this size you need a few tricks to get them to look decent, but I still wear them. I don't even wear full shirring. I have a few brand items that fit in the comfortable range without any help. I also wear brand blouses. AP has gotten so large that the models have to have items pinned back. In the U.S., (S) may fit a waist around 25 inches while a (L) may fit a waist around 40 inches.

In Japan, (S)-(L) is catered more toward variations in body type, not variations in weight.

Other countries and designer brands use the same system. A (L) seems 'small' because it's actually cut to fit someone with a healthy BMI albeit higher in the range. It's not cut to fit someone with a BMI in the overweight or obese range.
