Basically, cyanoacrylate based or epoxy glues work the best.

How can I get the people in my cosplay group to get more serious about cosplay. I started a cosplay group because coordinated cosplay looks cool and grabs attention.

It seems like I am the only one that is taking the group seriously though. There was a 6 month window to get cosplay done, now it's like 3 weeks until con and the other group members still don't have an idea of what they want to do.

Should I just leave the group? They are my friends though.

It depends OP are you using ABS,PLA,Nylon,PET,or HIPS?

For ABS I found SCIGRIP 16 10319 Acrylic Cement works amazing. Actually fuses the plastics together. But is smells like it will probably give you super cancer. It should also work with HIPS.

I don't work with the others to much. But I like E6000 glue for attaching parts to prints. CA is great but it tends to be brittle the E6000 is really strong and if something does happen it would flex long before breaking

Nylon could potentially be a pain to glue but I haven't tried it yet

I don't think a mannequin gets all that dirty with use. Oils from your hands is the only thing that would contaminate it, so to speak, since only clean fabric or garments are put on a dummy. But perhaps you could buy a cleaner meant for couches and the like if you're that concerned. Also, if a human being with two legs can wear a dress, so can a trouser dummy.

It depends on what it is. A shaman from WoW is more recognizable, especially if you do one of the tier sets.

People cosplay their OCs at cons all the time, especially those from video games (think Bioware) but if you want people to pay attention to you in any sort of way, you have to be meticulous with your crafting of the costume. For a con that is coming up in April, I'm trying to do a cosplay of Skulduggery Pleasant, which I already have the suit and white shirt for it, just need the tie, scarf, gloves and skull.

The skull part is the hardest part for me to get without spending too much money, especially since I want the mandible to be able to move when I talk. I originally wanted to go for a lifesized model of a skull, remove the mandible and attach it to a black morphsuit hood and cut sections of the rest of the skull so that it fits my head, but the problem with that is the skull might not fit my head properly, since the skull is life sized and not slightly larger. I looked into latex masks with movable jaws but they look tacky or are very expensive. I could try getting the mandible itself and combining it with the rest of a skull mask that's missing the mandible, but it might be too noticeable.

Is there a way to solve this problem, or should I bite the bullet and get the more expensive ones?

Is ordering from spandex house usually as confusing as it has been for me?
They say to request samples by listing the color number thing they list by the pictures of the fabric, but every time I have requested samples they give me like 4 or 5 random samples of the same color that I didn't even request, and even have forgotten to send me ones I DID request. When you get the samples there is a number listed underneath the the scraps that had nothing to do with the one you gave them for the sample request, and if you search the number on your site, totally random fabrics pop up.
If you're going to send me a bunch of random samples, it's hard for me to remember what style and color I requested if the numbers don't even match the ones listed on the website.
If you've actually bought a length of spandex from spandex house, what was the ordering process like? It looks like you have to call them. How long did it take to receive your order? I know I'll probably have to get at least one color of what I need to use from them.
Also: are there any other sites that have a good variety of matte milliskin/moleskin colors besides spandex world and spandex house that ship to the US?

Keep in mind that you really shouldn't wear contacts unless you've been to an eye doctor and gotten the OK. Not all people can wear them. One reason for this is eye curvature varies from person to person, and not all contact styles might come in your specific curvature.

Also, you posted a sclera lens contact. They're not a good first contact to wear, and you can only wear them for a few hours at a time. If you do go to an optometrist and get OKd, I'd recommend a regular white-colored contact that matches the diameter and curvature measurements you were given. The parts uncovered by a regular contact are white anyway.

Seconding this. Please go see an eye doctor first and get the okay. Your eyes are not something you want to fuck around with.

I'm going to fulfill a livelong dream by cosplaying Rita Repulsa (specifically the Carla Perez version -- Machiko Soga's ruff is more complex). Some of the elements will be new territory for me, so I wanted to run my preliminary ideas by you salty fuckers before getting started.

1. I want the breastplate detailing (the raised black pieces and the gold detailing) to be made out of a material that won't chip or snap, so I can run around throwing my head back manically without worrying that I'm about to knock the gold pieces off my tits. If the base of the breastplate is all plastic (I'm planning on using a fencing breastplate as the base, cutting out holes, and then inserting small plastic traffic cones into the holes for the torpedoes) and the only part that's done with model magic is the raised detailing, will it be sturdy enough for energetic posturing?

2. Is it nuts to use a plastic Viking helmet as the base of her headdress? I'm thinking that I'd (1) chop the tips off the horns and extend them with a mesh or foam shape, (2) put a wig over the helmet, wrapping hair around the horns, mesh or wire horn extensions, (3) build the black-and-gold band around the bottom of the helmet, and (4) wrap the brown bands around the horn-extensions and the place where the wig meets the black-and-gold band.

3. Does the Arda Chibi make sense for a wig base when combined with longer wefts for the "horns"? It's thick and wefts "up" in the right direction (compared to the Leia, which comes with longer hair but wefts downward). Are there cheaper or better center-parted wigs to use?

If you have no time to try to slim naturally/you physically can't get any skinnier in the waist, then a corset should work in theory.

Just do your research on how much you can squish and how long it's safe to wear at a time.

If you have more time before your con, there are also "trainer" type corsets. Allegedly combining them with diets "train" your waist to be slimmer over a short period of time, on top of just being a corset that you can wear anyway.

There's no such thing, unfortunately! While it may not stand out as a particular fabric to you, that likely just means it's not something eccentric like velvet/spandex/leather, but not that it's not actually a specific fabric. I'd suggest looking around and paying more attention to what everything around you, and what specific pieces in a cosplay would have to do/what their real world equivalents would be made of. Just like a pair of sweatpants made of quilting cotton or a fleece tablecloth would stand out weirdly in real life and not serve their purposes, your cosplay sewing will always look better and more believable if it can pass as what it's actually supposed to be.

Googling "what fabrics used to make (sweatshirts/dress pants/coats/whatever it is you're making)" should usually be your first step if you're not familiar with different fabrics, or even just bring a similar garment with you to the fabric shop and feel/compare! Fabric shop workers are your friends too as long as you have a specific idea of what your fabric needs to do and dont have your mind set on one already. Being vague for the sake of hiding that you're cosplaying/don't know what you're doing only makes it harder for them to help you

I'm not sure this will help but I'm also looking at making a latex suit, and have no real idea on how to do it. http://www.liquidlatex.com/makingbodysuit.html

I'm looking to make a suit that looks like too-shiny android skin, so that I appear naked at a glance, but in reality I'm covered head to toe. Unfortunately I'm not into latex as a fetish so all the sites popping up when I google latex are really off-putting. I want to walk around a con late night and look like an android that just busted out of the warehouse, not a walking fetish.

Is that possible /cgl/? I know I'll have creeps approach me but even when I'm wearing shorts I get creeper comments. I'm 26, happy with my relationship, and more secure in my sexuality than I've ever been. I've finally started doing cosplays that show legs or belly, can I take it to the next level and use the initial shock of female nudity to convey the terror of sentient technology? Or will I just look like a loon that left the latex orgy early?

I've never done a cosplay before, and want to do Aikuro Mikisugi.

From what I've read from you guys, the hair will be by far the most important part if I want the character to be recognizable. Finding a wig has proven to be difficult. I can't find one that looks exactly like his hair, or if there is one that is close, it won't be in the right color. So I figure that I will have to do a good amount of cutting/styling on whatever wig I end up selecting.

So I guess I have 2 questions:
1. Am I getting in over my head?
2. Will the wig be long enough, and would it be able to be styled into what I want?

(the wig on the left is the one I'm thinking about buying, the right is the color. they just didn't have a picture of that style/color combo)

ty for any feedback

1. If you know nothing about styling hair in the first place, maybe. This one is rather simple but you will need supplies to style it correctly. Definitely look up some wig styling tutorials.

2. That length looks good but if you want the hair combed back at the hairline, you'll want a lacefront wig.

As for painting, always do some test painting on scrap foam before spraying your actual piece to make sure the paint does what you want it to. Depending on your paints you may not need a primer, but once again, test before you apply to your actual piece.

Hibiki's armor actually doesn't need to be very lightweight, cause it's a big backpack. So just put the belts under your shirt and it's done. For this you can use PVC to make a big empty box, add details and attach belts to it. For another Kancolle designs were all armor is on your hips i'd use EVA foam to make it lighter than PVA and also just make a big empty figures, attach details and cover it with molding latex before painting.

Yeah, meant Lolita/jfash styles similar to lolita. Sorry for the vague question.

I'm coming across some maido shit under lolita, but I remember seeing a thread a few weeks ago with quite a few linked.

It was an asshole bait thread, some guy saying "why do you all pretend you're not trying to look sexy" @ lolitas, and there was some burando porn. I'm not looking specifically for those videos, but I can't seem to find anything even close to it.

How do I get the white skirt to stay curled up and floof af?
On the picture it's just pinned that way with a lot of extra fabric inside, making it stiff. But I need to make the floof permanent without the doublefabric inside (there will be ledlights in the tulleskirt, so the white part has to be as seetrough as possible).

Anyway, what's the cheapest t-shirt printing cgl is aware of for single quantity shirts? My friends and I wanted to make some fandom related shirts, but there isn't enough of us to do bulk orders or anything like that. i don't care if its screen printing or 3D digital printing, I'm not picky. Is alibaba services trust worthy? Any experiences or opinions would be great. Any suggestions for a medium pink-orange wig for the top half of this, or am I going to have to dye one?

Between Epic Cosplay and Arda, it looks like the closest is Arda's salmon, and that's probably a bit too light (and the only long salmon wig is a curly one).

I want to be this girl, but I'm worried about the wig. Do I do:
>better styling and pigtails, weird potentially unflattering colors
>better colors, stupid miku-recolor pigtails and wig base
>diy death project involving coloring the ends and making a part in the back with wefts from another wig, but 100% freedom to make it exactly how I want
My main concerns are the colors looking weird with my warm-medium-light skintone, the bangs and side pieces not being how I want, and the twintails being weird and saggy if they're not on clips. Also effort and money.
Any opinions are extremely appreciated!

Splice a wig and sew or glue together. The bottom and left reference photo seem good to go by, keep in mind colours change may change in the show due to different settings and lighting.
>>9377687
Gathering, clear tulle, lightweight interfacing and horsehair braid comes to mind. Another anon said spray starch, i haven't used it before though.
>>9377686
You should probably use a wig. it'll look better.
https://ardawigscanada.ca/products/rocky
After doing basic makeup, use a stencil to outline with Ben nye or Snazaroo, fill it in and seal with spray and translucent powder or baby powder so they stay. Your cheeks move a lot so you might want to pack some stuff with you.
>>9377475
Itd look cool if it was matte, otherwise it might look like fetishwear. Not sure how you'd make mews skirt gather though. I wouldn't do it personally. Any thick cotton blend or twill would work for me.
>>9375054
Tie see through elastics between where you want them. You could e6000 them all together too to make them stiff if wanted.

Double check wherever you buy your costume from, it's not uncommon to find sellers stealing product photos and sending you far lower quality goods.
There's no crossdressing stigma here, /cgl/ and /fit/ just go together like oil and water. >>9345856 may be helpful to you.
