Right, as do other niche fashions like 50s style, there are far more sewing resources for that fashion with a larger audience, but still only a fraction of that group sews and makes their own clothes. Most people don't want to invest the time and money into sewing clothes, and I'd say more so for lolita since the source material is all in Japanese and to make those clothes you have to be more savvy than just being able to follow a traditional pattern guide. Not to mention a serious lack of GOOD tutorials out there to help show you how to put a typical JSK or OP together. And on top of all of that lolita dresses are more expensive to make since they require more fabric than most dresses and are expected to have nice trims/lace. You have to be savvy about buying lace and trims or you'll break the bank. And another factor that may stop people from pursuing sewing lolita is, unfortunately, what this guy has been bitching about; a super judgmental community. Sure, the handmade thread is encouraging and super supportive, but everywhere else handmade is ripped to shreds. Even good handmade is often berated for being boring, so it's really not surprising at all that so many people DONT sew lolita.

One of the reasons why Lolita looks automatically worse on a fatty is because it always looks a bit period (classic) or fantasy (sweet & gothic) costume-y, unless you have a serious knack for casual. Film and plays feature some small fats, huge fats as the exception, but over 90% fit people. There are many (socio)logical reasons to hate fat people, though. Their entire existence is defined by using up resources they don't need, just because they're too gluttonous to stop overeating. Can we just agree everyone makes sometimes bad life choises? It's an endless race of which is worst if you gyus continue. Obesity is a huge problem but it's not only the problem of the individual but society as many people are obese even at a young age.
