FW ink wig dyeing question... I’m trying to achieve a warm brown color- dark brown with a red tint (see pic related). I’m thinking with the white wig I have, dye it a light red/red purple (by not letting the pigment dry all the way), rinse and dry completely. Then dye over that with a dark brown. Or the opposite way- dye the white wig brown first, then go over with the red to tint it. Or I could nix the layering idea altogether and just mix a brown, red and purple, but I'm afraid that won't look as natural as it could. Which one of these ideas would work better do you think? Or something else entirely?

Going from a white wig to that shade all the way through is going to be too much work and with the money you spend on all the ink you'll need, especially if you're using a longer or fuller wig, so you may as well buy another wig.

FW ink dying is usually better for gradients, hilights, and tinting, not really changing the shade of the wig to something entirely different. Pic related was only at 2 bottles before brushing it out and adding more.

Do you guys happen to know a good place for custom bodysuit patterns?

I want to do a D.va skin from Heroes of the Storm and I do have Photoshop but I'm having trouble designing the template myself.

I've contacted gunhead and the pattern runs at $70 for what I want which seems to be the best option right and their patterns are really nice. I just wanted to see if there were any others.

I have props down so that's easy just want and its almost the exact same suit just a custom color.

Sorry if it has been asked before and I missed it.

Starting on my head for cosplay.

Cutting with EVA foam for the first time and having a tough time cutting the shapes.

Some of the sides have parts that are unfortunately beveled while cutting the shapes out.

If that happens, is it still salvageable or am I better off starting over with a new sheet of foam?

These eyebrows have been the bane of my existence since the day I was born (and this is already threaded)

How do I make it resemble that of someone who's not muslim?

I was thinking of having the the stylist pluck out random parts from the denses area of my eyebrows(centre) and maybe a bit of waxing as well, that day it would look less dense/intensely black while still retaining its arch and shape.

Dumb questions, but... I'll ask 'em anyway. This seems like a simple enough outfit to do, though my main concern is how to get the stars onto a shirt. I'd probably just start with a plain white shirt first of course, but it'd be a matter of the stars.

Would fabric paint be the best choice? I don't have the steadiest hands. Or should I find (or somehow make) the patterns of the stars and then use iron on transfer paper? The thing is the stars basically take up the entire shirt and I don't know if there's paper big enough (or if I'd have to segment it). It seems to wrap around to the sides (probably a bit to the back too) as well. Should I cut corners and just try to fit it all onto the front side of the shirt (even if the stars have to be smaller) so I don't have to worry about the sides or the back? What should I do?

are you serious? they are just stars. just make a pattern in illustrator (pirate it if you dont have it) or use something free like inkscape.

then just print it out on multiple sheets of paper since its a big design and then use the whole thing like a stencil for fabric paint application.

or do the same thing but with transfer paper.

All he needs is a slightly longer or fuller wig on the sides. There's plenty of Bogard cosoplayers that haven't needed to do the curl thing.

Your wig is the problem. End of story. The curls look bad and combined with the hilights makes it look like a late 90s middle aged yoga mom who watches way too many daytime talk shows and is desperately trying to cling to her youth. It doesn't help that you can see the rubber banded parts through the hat mesh (there's opaque Fatal Fury hats on Ebay for 15$ or less), and it even looks like the ponytail is way too short. Just get a new wig. CosplayDNA or Laurawu_123 on Ebay, or Lucaille all sell decent quality but inexpensive wigs. I'd recommend CosplayDNA for shipping speed and wig fullness, though.

Even with the camera lighting, the paleness of it greatly contrasts with your eyebrows, making them stand out more. Terry's brows are just as dark and thick, they're just hidden by the shadow of his hat bill and his yellow-blonde hair and medium-light skin make them stand out less.

You keep asking for help, and we're happy to help you, but please stop waving aside suggestions just because we're not focusing on what you think is the problem. If experienced people are saying that something else is the problem, you should probably listen.

If you hate your brows so much for personal reasons, you could have posted in the makeup general to ask about them, but for this cosplay they're fine. If you really dislike them, just buy a pair of tweezers.

>>9510928
Have you tried searching "lame" and "wetlook"? If you can't find any that end below the elbows, there's tons of opera length lame gloves that you could just cut to your desired length and hem. Lame (lamay) is essentially spandex with a shiny, rubbery coating so it looks either like faux leather without the veins, or non-oiled latex depending on the coating.

The best thing to do would be to get a wig. Wigs are easy to keep in a certain style and will look better throughout the course of a long day, with the exception of a few specific styles.

If you really don't want to use a wig, you can look into temporary solutions like spray in color or hair chalk. These are highly likely to come off on your clothes or other people, and they generally don't look like normal hair.

You can also look into permanent solutions, aka dyeing your hair. To get a shade lighter than your own hair color, you need to bleach your hair. This is not something that will wash out, and in order to get rid of it you'll have to dye your hair back to your original color or wait for it to grow out.

Please get a wig. It will look best and be the easiest way to solve your problem.

Almost finished putting my armor together, but the last center piece didn't fit . I guess the pattern I made didn't account for the thick foam.

At this point I just have to shape pieces until I get one that fits, right?
Not really sure what else I can do about it except take it slowly. The good news seems to be that the last piece will fit under this and so any bump edges will be hidden. There's a lot more room for error than other pieces

ive had a few circle lenses, can anyone please tell me the purpose of the black rim?

>it enlarges the eyes

uh if it's both 15.00mm in diameter how does it enlarge better?

>gives that dolly look or whatever

the black rim means you have less vibrant/color showing so how does that help?

If you just want a vibrant and strong color then wouldn't rimless be superior?

enlargening effect should not matter at all if the diameter is the same right?

>> No.9513201

>>9513130
uhh most circle lenses are 15 mm but "give effect of 16.2"
This part with black rim, pictures etc is outside your actual iris, so it seems that your iris is bigger than it actually is...

And yeah, black rim does cover your natural eye color, so it may not seem really enlarging. Thats why color circle lenses looks best and are usually worn by people with dark black or brown eyes. This way bright color covers their dark iris, black rim gives the effect that this is their natural bigger iris => looks cute and dolly.

Bright eyes x Circle lenses mostly looks just creepy, not cute, but of course there are exceptions.

youve gotten that far though so you can actually use the sculpt and make a silicon mold out of it.

Search for Demonia brand on Amazon. Demonia, the parent company Pleaser, and all its offshoots cater to drag and CD so they usually go up to 12 or 13 men's for their unisex shoes, and 11-12 womens for their heels.

You could also try searching "plus size" on Aliexpress, Amazon, or Ebay for Asian sellers that carry larger sizes, but a lot of times "plus size" in comparison to Asian sizes maxes out at women's sz11.

If you're shit out of time and don't really care about appearance, you can cut the lining out. Bear in mind that the shell of the jacket may "collapse" a bit afterwards since a layer of support will be gone.
If you have more time and care a little more for integrity of the garment, get out a seam ripper to neatly remove the lining and re-sew any shell seams. If you have a lot of time and care for looks, I would save the lining pieces and use them as a pattern to remake them in a lighter fabric and sew that back to the jacket.

Depends. It comes in different weights/thicknesses, the thicker it is the harder it is to work with. You'll want a very strong needle for the thick kind (Imagine those plastic purses and bags) but the thinner kind like pic related should be pretty easy. Use clips instead of pins since any hole made in the vinyl is permanent and use a roller or teflon foot to made sure the vinyl doesn't stick. If you don't have either, I've ghettoed it out with masking tape stuck under a regular sewing foot and it sewed perfectly. Or course, always sew some test pieces and get a feel for the material and see what works for you before ruining anything important.

anyways, the durability of apoxy sculpt is nice and has a pretty good sculpt time before it cures.
the stuff is pretty pricey so i find it best to use tinfoil as a base shape of whatever youre making and then cover it with apoxy sculpt. that way you kinda get more out of the tub and youre not really wasting a lot of the stuff just for filler in the middle. plus, it helps lighten it up as well.

that same method could be used with paperclay as well. that way its not just a solid chunk of the stuff.

Got babbys very first cosplay coming up- going to do 3d2y Zoro (more or less as pictured, but with the bandanna on head since I'm not devoted enough for dye or a wig at the moment). Most everything is squared away since it's a relatively simple put together to go with my friend's Perona. She is a habitual cosplayer however with many years of experience so I don't want to be TOO far removed quality wise.

Anyways to the ask- so I have an idea for securing the sword/scabbards (since they must be peace bound). A leather flap essentially, attached to my belt via loops with snaps so it can be removed/attached on the fly. Measured to fit under the haramaki, and have two separate but stable anchor points. I haven't gotten the measurements yet but probably ~6" or less wide, maybe a bit taller depending on where the haramaki will sit in relation to my belt. From the two anchor points, each would have three lengths of fishing line; long, mid, and short. These would then get attached to the swords- probably via zip-tie to keep them from sliding around two swords with one long and one short, the third double mid to keep the varying angles for the swords as they hang.

My reasoning for the flap is to lower the anchor points of the lines to near the bottom of the haramaki so that the top lines won't be pulling out and either creating a unsightly bulge, or making it slide up my body unintentionally. The fishing line being a time/effort compromise based on the fact that in reality Zoro's swords have no logical sense to their attachment, they just float there however makes the scene look cool. Plus the fishing line is 15lb so it should be fairly safe in securing and not snapping if I get jostled or whatever.

Is there any glaring flaws with this plan logistically or particular concern on how it would appear?

So I'm sure this has been asked before, but how would I go about extracting a 3d model from a video game (armor, weapon, accessories, etc), re-scaling the dimensions of said model, then using that 3d model in something like Pepakura to make patterns?

I have read up on various methods on how to extract 3d models from video games. From what I'm understanding, you'd need to convert them into something recognizable like a .obj file. How would I go about re-scaling said 3d model so that it matches real to life dimensions (for example; scaling a helmet so that it would fit your head irl).

I could just free hand everything I suppose, but I would like to get some exposure to 3d modeling.

well if you can manage to get the 3d model into pepakura, that program actually has a scaling tool so you can make your prop fit on your head.

you just have to measure your head (height and width) and input those numbers into pepakura. though youre gonna have to mess with the numbers a bit to compensate on the thickness of the material youre using, etc.
that part is gonna rely on trial and error.

when i was into the whole halo craze, it took me like 4 tries to get a spartan helmet to fit correctly.

Create your size, and then make it 10% bigger (the option is in pepakura). Then you should pretty much have the idea. Of course keep attention to the limits of the model, the scaling goes off the hitbox of the entire model (see pic). So the width is generally not even close to your head diameter.

When you import the model it will ask you what the front is, pay attention to this aswell.

You'll always get a gradient, so if you want a sharp edge tape it down with masking tape. Also helps if you put the bodysuit on a dummy or mannequin instead of painting it as is. Make sure you don't have any folds that would make awkward effects.
If you never airbrushed before: try it out on paper first (duh) and practice with the dual action + how close you're holding it to the surface.

Basically the entire thing aside from the lines & swords is meant to be able to rest under the haramaki, since the three swords will wind up at fairly sharp external angles in order to be stacked up as such (otherwise I would just go directly on the belt).

The top of the straps would be sewn to the flap, as with the fixed loop they'd thread through. As a luxury goal if I can manage the intent would be another snap set to allow the whole thing to wrap around the swords for inactive storage convenience.

Wigs should come clean, you only need to wash them if you think they need it.

You can go crazy. Cut it, but remember less is more so start with smaller amounts. Cutting too little is fine but cutting too much will ruin the wig.

For most styling you just need a comb, blowdryer, and hairspray. Since wig fibers are plastic they will soften under heat and can be forced into a new shape. Hairspray helps keep more dramatic shapes in place and can be used in place of, during, or after heating.

For spiking you'll want hair glue. G2B is universally accepted for the job. In extreme cases where hair glue won't work you can use clear-dry, washable school glue.

If you follow these guidelines a wig can be restored at any point with hot tap water, a hair dryer on low, and gentle combing.

Comb > Brush. Wide-tooth. Anti-static is helpful but optional if your wig is dry. Curling irons and straighteners will melt the wig.

Have fun and rest easy knowing anything can be fixed as long as you don't take too much hair off or melt it.

Throwing together a Tingle cosplay since I decided to attend AX at the last minute but my work schedule is packed.

I have a green zentai with an open-faced cowl, and a conical piece of green foam core, but the suit is too tight to just place it on my head. The fabric store near my house sells the same color of stretch fabric so I can add more if I need to. Should I try to sew it onto the top, or would there be a better way? Also, any advice on attaching the ears in a way that'll prevent them from flopping around is appreciated.

Side question, what's a good way to prevent or lessen pit stains, keeping in mind that I'll probably be moving/raising my arms a lot.

If I were you I'd replace the whole hood. From seeing zentai suits online I do suppose that the zipper goes pretty far up over the back of the head. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Rip the seam around the zipper and then cut off the hood where you yourself think it would be acceptable to have a horizontal seam. Split the hood across the middle (as seen in your pic) and modify that pattern to fit your cone. While you're doing this, experiment with ear-"pockets" so the ears will be forced to be on the same spot of the hood all the while. Furthermore, since the hood goes under his chin either way I'd have the cone and ears on a headband which is tied or has an elastic under the chin as well.

When reattaching the zipper you need patience. Call me crazy and a coward, but I'd hand stitch it while having the whole contraption on a wig head. With all the trying on and making sure the cone, ears opening and all that jazz fits you're pretty much gonna have a perfect/very specific fit. Messing that up by not getting the correct stretch through the machine would make me commit seppuku. The horizontal seam around the neck will be 100% safe though!

Good luck. I both love and hate spandex.

>> No.9522850

>>9522742
Either fully stuffed or fully foam is going to be too heavy.

What you're going to need to do is use high gauge wire to make a conical wire frame like a crinoline. Braided wire spine to ensure it doesn't flop, with rings attached to the spine at regular intervals. Link the rings on the outside with more wire so that the frame is sturdy.

Find a comfortable way to attach it to your body. If you're making it accurately sized, this may mean suspending it over your shoulders under the dress. Either way, you'll probably end up looping it around your waist or attaching it to a belt.

Now use two layers of fabric for the outside, with minimal amount of poly-fil between so that the wire skeleton doesn't show through. You can either make a "sock" that pulls over the wire, or make the top and bottom separately with loops to attach so it can easily be dismantled.

It SHOULD stay up and be pretty light using this method, and also be flexible (to an extent).
