No, no, it's the other way around. Yaya has been in the cosplay scene for like 25 years, she definitely makes her own shit. Nigri has been found to kinda half take claim of what others have made for her like posting pictures of her "working" on pieces that were primarily made by her friends.


A lot of the issues come into the fact that Nigri tends to pick simple or male characters and sluttify them into the same bikini top and short shorts design with the same scene combover wig style and the porn-y makeup. Yaya tends to pick characters that are already slutty and thus, sticks with the existing character design.

I don't hate Jessica Nigri. I don't mind that she makes a lot of money. I don't mind that she does sexy cosplay. In fact, I'd like to not care about her or what she does at all. However she is the most famous cosplayer in North America, which means she is very influential on people perception of what cosplay is about. She got there by taking a hobby and turning it into a fetish. People viewing our hobby as a fetish does hurt me and my friends as part of the cosplay community. So while I would like to just ignore what she does and say good for her, her actions do have consequences for the rest of us.

I've been cosplaying for almost seven years and in the last two years or so I started getting messages from men asking me to do an extremely skimpy cosplay or to outright send them nudes.
