There was a Mega-Meetup in Baltimore. They had centerpieces that were mocking C&C and Otakon's backpedaling.

It was a pretty good event. Some problems (consignment, not enough food from the vendors, small space), but for something of its size and the price point ($6), it was understandable. I hope there's more in the future and they work out the problems.

It's a fairly new feature and I don't understand exactly what good is does, but essentially this user once verified their paypal account via lacemarket (as in they did log into their account when asked by lacemarket).

As far as I know you used to be able to make a new account with any e-mail address as your paypal address, they just assumed the e-mail was connected to a paypal account. Now you need a functioning paypal account tied to your lacemarket account if you make a new one. Overall this is supposed to help fight scammers.

At least it has a better name this week.

Smoking weed is extremely common (and legal) in my country and I regularly partake in this. Being a lolita, I sometimes smoke weed in lolita too.
The smell of weed doesn't really cling to clothing for a long time (as opposed to tobacco) and I take measures to prevent ashes from falling down onto my clothing by always wearing a closed robe while smoking and taking it off before going out.
I still wonder what my fellow lolitas think of this. Would you buy a dress someone has smoked in, even if the smell isn't noticeable?

I spent my first couple of years in lolita resisting getting bangs because I was scared they'd make me look like a kid (had them as a kid and hated them), but I realised they looked totally different on my adult face and when I took the plunge I loved it. Works better with nearly every hair accessory and I pretty much stopped wearing wigs since, since my own hair is cute enough now. I trim them myself but I'm lazy so I don't do it often, I tend to cut it shortish and then let it grow long and curl it under because my hair grows fast and maintaining them at the perfect straight level would mean trimming every few days.

Whether you smoke weed or cigs, or vape, or whatever your choice of substance is, the ethical thing to do is to disclose it. You don't have to say what it is, and you can easily state the dresses are washed and cleaned after each wear and you don't smoke/vape in the closet, or that you'll clean it again before sending it out, or whatever.

afaik "parasol" refers to UV blocking, it doesn't imply less waterproofing. One of Japan's seasonal things is its rainy season in summer (aka hydrangea season). Around this time shops start putting out rainboots and raincoats (and burandos put out parasols) in summer. It doesn't make sense to do this without waterproofing the parasols as they're intended for the rainy weather in summer, so they're usually waterproof and UV blocking.

As for "hold a lot of rainfall", they aren't so fragile and delicate that they'll fall apart -- they're pretty much constructed liked a regular umbrella. I guess if your area particularly requires reinforced super steel brollies then maybe don't get a brand parasol. If you can get by with a regular cheapskate brolly from the dollar store, then brand parasol should work fine.

The only thing I can't vouch for is that it's always been this way, maybe at the dawn of lolita there was a time when the parasols were purely decorative or maybe there was a time when brand parasols sucked -- I really don't know. If your parasol is from sometime within the last 7 years at least then it should be fine though.

If you look on BtSSB's site you'll find that most are but some styles (usually ones that look more like parasols and less like umbrellas, it's often obvious from the material) aren't.
