Yeah I have a To Alice myself and the glitter is a nightmare especially on dark characters. It's not so noticeable with lighter chars (white, pastels etc.) You could always rip it out and replace it if you were brave.

Sadly haven't been working on anything lately, but I'm waiting on two pretty big orders! My Taobao one just shipped a few days ago and I'm still waiting on a shipping invoice from Japonica. I'm SO excited to get everything and start testing bag layouts!

I just made the insert for one of the three bags I want to do, and vograce just shipped my charms so hopefully I can start putting it together soon. I'm waiting on curved safety pins as well but they should get here before the charms do. For my second bag, I need to find fabric for the insert. I was stupid last week and bought the wrong type of foam for my inserts. Now it's the only thing holding me back from putting my bags together. I caught a cold too so I haven't done anything for a while.

I have 3-4 bags I'm working on. Husbando main bag (Gilgamesh from Fate) which I found some nice metallic gold for the insert. I also snagged the FGOxAvail itabag base for cheap (pictured) which will be my overflow bag for him. I'm pretty happy with it because auctions have it up for 2-5x the price. The other bag is a black Swimmer tote for Kazama from Hakuouki and a small pouchette I plan on swapping out pieces for casual use.

I kinda just called a pedophile becasue of my bag? I have a few, and one of my smaller ones is split perfectly in half with my two favorite husbands who are not too well know and have very little merch. I ended up shipping the two of them just becasue I life being the captain of this lone ship. But I guess the problem is I hang out with some people who REALLY know the lore of the characters and they pretty much said wtf is wrong with me cause one guy is 30 and other is 16.

It's better to look at items individually. Bootleg merch uses stolen art, official or fan art, to make merch. If it's official it's usually been altered in some way too. Two different stores can get rejected straps from the same factory so multiple stores can have the same strap.

Heads up on factory rejects. For some reason rubber straps from there places are almost always amazing, buttons are a toss up and acrylics are the most likely to be unusable. I have filled may bags nicely with reject straps

I finished up some small pieces this weekend. They're nothing high quality, but I"m happy with em. I'm probably going to give the dunsparce buttons a teal border though. A crown shape would look worse aesthetically sitting in the dip of the heart because of its flat bottom.... I do think you should change the pink of the bow, though. im looking at the DIY for the insert, but what if your insert is on the heavy side? I'm using the salus messenger bag and with all my charms on it, the foam distorts in the bag (bends/flops over). is there a way besides hot-glueing velcro to the insert and the bag? Because the salus bag has two parts: the inner bag and the outer clear bag.

im thinking i may double my insert with more foam on the back or make it bigger so it fits more snugly, but putting anything in this bag is a pain in the neck. worse scenario, I'm just gonna go with a classic tote bag because the messenger bag is driving me nuts.

Looking all these multifandom and multicharacter bags got me thinking, is there ANY way to make them appealing and/or acceptable?
Maybe the reputation behind it doesn't help because most are usually just thrown together, likely a trendhopper, and there's usually nothing special about them.

Basically, any good examples of the idea for inspiration?

I think multifandom ones are hard to make look good, because they just like you said look thrown together. You need a very clear theme to it, like Magical Girl or such.

This Magical Girl bag I think looks ok. Not really good because it still looks a bit thrown together, but it def. could work.

Multicharacter bags from the same series though are a lot easier too make look good.

I have 3 completed bags for Reaper from Overwatch and they're my only completed bags at the moment. As for my WIP bags I also have 2 more for Reap and a small one for D.Va, as well as a general Yume Nikki bag and Miu Iruma from Danganronpa.

I had plans for a small Love Live one and Tracer but those have been pushed aside for the time being as LL merch is pretty cheap and I'm struggling to find a base bag that I like for Tracer.

A lot of those multicharacter/fandom bags aren't even fucking itabags to begin with, they're fucking con bags. An itabag requires a clear, specific theme; for multiple characters you can have a bag for a series or characters voiced by a certain seiyuu, etc. "Multifandom" (god I hate that word) bags can be centered around/for a certain genre--just 'anime' or 'video games' is too dang broad a theme.
Speaking of genre bags, I really haven't seen many good ones. Like >>9711359 said, a lot of the magical girl bags I've seen only have like 3 series, and loads of the are like 60-80% sailor moon, 10-20% "fight like a girl! uwu ~kawaii~' generic pins, and the remaining space filled with like 3-4 pieces of merch from other well-known series like madoka or CCS. They show more of a shallow love for the concept than a love of the whole genre. I personally hink you need at least four series for a good genre bag, pic related being a nice example-- I'm not very well versed in horror movies but I can pick out four there, and there are more on the back of the bag which is in a separate pic.

Continuing on though, this is a good example of a multicharacter bag. It's got a clear theme--all robots--and barring tht one button in the top right which I don't recognize, nothing just has one lonely piece of merch. Mega man, Transformers, and Iron Leaguer all have clear representation, though it seems like the was a bag for the latter at first and there's not much MM on there. They're all also grouped by series and the whole bag is laid out pretty nicely, though the charms blocking a lot of the IL pics does bug me.

Unrelated, but to anyone who's doing a pokemon bag, the jp Pokemon center is doing a promo where first time buyers get free domestic shipping on orders under 5k yen. You can hit them up with a forwarding service to get this, since they will take overseas cards.

If you decide to flatten out the base, the Swimmer model does not stand on its own but the knock-off can stand without support.

For the knockoff, personally, I recommend creating an insert because the faux leather is hard to pin through. The Swimmer model on the other hand is canvas, so making an insert is optional.

Personally, I prefer the interior fabric of the Swimmer bag. It has a polyester feeling, which doesn't feel like it would absorb anything if accidentally spill a little bit of water inside.

The knockoff has a weird, cotton-like feeling fabric that can easily absorb water.

The Swimmer bag uses a magnetic snap button
Knockoff uses a zipper.

Kirby-anon here. I made another bag because I have so much kirby stuff accumulating in my house.... I just played around with Kirby items I already had and I like the result. I have a pink one and there is no tint at all to the window, it's completely clear.
As for pocket depth, not much at the bottom but since it has the zip around most of the window, it gains a little bit of depth. I measure 1.5cm of depth around where the zipper is and the very bottom can fit a thickness of 0.5cm, I'd say.
Since the backing of the pocket is just thin fabric it can bend and deform to fit larger/thicker items tho. You'll just have to deal with a warped working canvas.
I've put a big statue in a similar bag and it deformed enough to fit in, it just wasn't the safest for that sort of item.
I hope any of this makes sense (sorry, I'm not a native english speaker).

I agree with changing the shape. I'm not a big fan of the heart bags I just wanted one of the bags that actually have a large trim around the plastic for decorating purposes. I'll look for a less edgy shape alternative and think more on if I should go with a black bag.

I do love the white/red part mimicking the mask, which is a really darn clever way of having the bag reflect the character, so I think the circle (or any shape other than the heart, really) might be the way to go.

Haha personally I think the white is a more interesting choice, given how predominant black is in so much horror related stuff, but I could see where it may blend in too much.
