What I've noticed from talking to friends, family and coworkers is that most normies who've heard of cosplay think it's all geek fetish pandering. Impossible. Male attention drives thots. Cosplay is made by and for both genders, while Lolita is made by and for women (with the occasional man who enjoys dressing as a woman). The pool of men who like actual Lolita fashion is very small, as it's inherently based on the beauty of detail and aesthetic, not the wearer being sexually attractive. The one exception is Ero-Lolita, and that's one of the less popular substyles.
