I've always been going to MCM and Hyper Japan (though I'm cutting more back on the MCM) but I only found out about Kita and ame once I started cosplaying and making friends at conventions (which was early last year). all my non cosplay friends who rarely cosplay didn't even know about Hyper Japan, all they know about is MCM

So yeah not many people who aren't in the cosplay scene knows about kitacon or amecon unless they are flooded on facebook with post about buying tickets for that con (which was what happened to me last year)

Most of my cosplay friends who I've made this past year go to those conventions, the only reason I didn't go to kitacon last year is because I wouldn't have anyone close enough to hang out with or get a hotel with.... at first I wasn't going to go to amecon because I'm deciding to go to a US con and summer program in Japan but now I'm deciding that I will go to amecon with my boyfriend (I really hope the people I don't like who go to hyper Japan and MCM aren't going to amecon)

If it makes you feel any better everything is so spread out so you to make the effort to actually find someone/run into them. I've been concerned about running into people I don't particularly like and so has my friend but the worrying usually ends up being for nothing. Likewise there are people who I do actually get on with and we'll end up commenting that we never actually got to see each other.

Having no one to go with is never an issue there, because of panels and quizzes the comm is a lot more open and welcoming to newcomers and chatting openly. I've always done better there than at all of the MCM/HJ's I've gone to collectively.

For a first time con and a con of this size I'm impressed. Everything's more or less on time, there's a really good variety of panels etc, the game's room's good. Especially impressed by the hotel. It's so much nicer than any of the other con hotels (and really cheap), and the staff seem to be embracing it. Taught a couple of reception girls how to ddr last night. Not sure if the con will survive here if it gets any bigger, though.

Especially loving how chill everything is but I expected that from such a small con.

Last one I went to was when both of the guests didn't show up, which made it extremely shit. It's always been so-so but a piece of piss to get to from where I lived compared to other cons. It wasn't bad with yer mates like any sort of con, but I just found myself doing basically fuck all and waiting for the really average after party. But the point for the beach across the road outway an amazingly hot and cramped 3/4 floor football stadium imo. It might have just been me but the stalls this year were so crammed in I couldn't look around as much. When it was at the beach it had zero organisation and was a hot mess but the stalls and stage weren't so bad since it was mostly outside . Same goes for the few panels I saw. I just wish they got a better venue, the stadium is nice and all but i hated it this year.

Did we go to the same Liverpool venue? The show used the entirety of the venue in its first year. There's no room to expand there, where Manchester can still grow. Cancelling Telford, NI and Liverpool means more money in the pot to spend on those guests, change of venue and stalls.

Crowding is always going to be an issue, there's no way around that. People think London is awful and yet this Oct there was so much space for walkways it was barely recognisable. More input on the London shows = more halls = more space and to fill that space they want big name dealers/exhibitors. Marvel and DC are good starts.

I never understood the point of either the Telford or Liverpool shows in the first place.
The North already had Manc and the midlands has Brum. Both Manc and Brum are much better cities to place events due to the ease of reaching the venues. Liverpool's venue was a piss take, I never went because of how much of an arse the venue looked to get to.

In regards to the overcrowding at Manc, I'm absolutely certain that MCM don't rent out the full complex at the GMEX. Hopefully they will use the money they save from pulling Telford and Liverpool and pump that into renting the full venue.

I met Kyle when he came to my local con last year. He seemed like a sweet kid and never once mentioned his girlfriend to me. I did eventually see a picture that either he was tagged in, or posted of him and his GF. I asked him about it and he told me not to worry and that they had broken up but remained friends. I still can't believe I was dumb enough to believe it. He made me send him pictures of myself shirtless, and every day I think of that, and the possibility that he might still have those, and it makes me want to vomit. He always manipulated to take more pictures, even when I was at work and told him no over and over. With the amount of people coming forwards (that I have observed from the comments and what I've heard), and the reoccurring elements in the stories about him coming from girls who have never spoken to each other, there is very littke likelihood (statistically) that this is a case of smoke without fire. Considering a women usually has so much more to lose by coming forward with this as they are less likely to be believed and police investigations are likely to be shut on the grounds of lacking evidence (putting them in further potenti danger from their abuser), I would say this seems pretty legit.

While I had issues with him, I'm not ashamed to admit that I had no idea. Yes, he was brash, egotistical, infuriatingly arrogant and headstrong, but I thought that he was just insecure and compensating for it. You would not believe the number of takes I did which were rubbish, out of focus, or involve me tripping on my shoelaces and nearly falling over.
