Because I'm not familiar with the Lolita scene, have no idea where to look for Lolita events, nor which events are considered to be major. Don't forget, I'm just one person with limited interests. All I know is that some dresses look pretty amazing and that you can easily trigger a Lolita by borrowing a headdress, putting it on your head and calling it a casual Lolita cosplay.

Dutch lolita events are organized by the Dutch comm and our FB is private for a good reason. If we advertised our meetups publicly on cgl, random creeps and people who were previously banned for aggressive behavior and harassment could show up. It's a safety issue. Unlike conventions, we don't have the benefit of staff and security to remove people who threaten others.

If you wear lolita and want to come to meetups, you should request to join the Dutch lolita FB group. The mods will check your profile and let you in once they see you're legit. Then you can see all upcoming meetups.

Actually yes. At least I do. But I kinda put this suffering upon me by wearing old school, so everything is even shorter. I did find a nice black cotton Maxicimam elastic waist skirt, that I sometimes wear on my hips as an underskirt to my shortest dresses. As long as they are black too, no one is able to tell.

I am by far not the tallest girl in the comm, quite a handful are above 1.80, but I'd say still most of them are shorter than me.

Lychee Tea are the saddest fuckers you can encounter. They always steal the 'best sellers' from each exhibitor and try to sell them. From what I've heard from other dealers is that they stole their lenses, plushes, accessories, and clothing. They've done it with us also.

They've been banned from multiple conventions but they try to dodge their ban by changing their names.
Their names go by Lychee Tea, Unicorno Geek Store, Glamoureyez and now apparently Fame Monster.

For the sake of all the artists, intellectual property holders and creatives minds alike, don't buy from them and report them to the organization of the convention.

Dazzle is quite literally the weakest excuse of a photographer I have ever seen. His style is ridiculously simple and easily achievable. Not unique at all.

I've said a really dumb thing on here, and I want to apologize for it. You see: I had some bad moments in 2018 and 2017 that I didn't share, just because I wanted to be drama free.

It actually went well for a bit, but because of me being a stupid fucktard, I checked 4Chan when someone mentioned it. At first I was like, 'Okay, whatever. Just laugh at it and let it go'. But after today, I notice the consequences of my stupid comment here on 4Chan. It's partly because of my autism that I just overthink everything and get mad/annoyed by it...

I sincerely want to apologize for it, just because I hurted my reputation of this. It's stupid, I made a huge mistake and I paid for it. I learned from this and this will not happen again. If it happens again, I'm the one to blame.

Should I get into cosplay photography? I come from a background of fashion photography and videography, but work is almost entirely dried up there and I'm just someone who does it as a side gig. Not to sound rude, but most Dutch cosplay photographers seem to be completely incompetent, like they've only started fiddling around with a camera 2 months ago and haven't developed the technical aspects yet, and their references for visuals and their eye are completely formed by PS3 game graphics AKA they think about what's objectively in the frame (e.g. The person in the costume) and try to make it look like some plastic tacky stuff (artistically, not the craftsmanship of the cosplay), instead of feeling the end product that is the photograph. That Devon guy does nothing but use ridiculous backlights (go watch Days of Heaven, Devon, THAT's backlight) and kitsch particles. I understand that the client wants to show of their costume and themselves, but there is no artistic value or appreciation of aesthetics.
How do cosplay photographers get their start (I got into fashion photography through working as an assistant)? Just go to cons and post pics on their social media page until they build a following? (I'm not a cosplayer myself, and have never been to a con, I just look at costumes online.)

If you're just doing it to be better than other photographers you're probably going to have a bad time. Elitist behaviour doesn't make many friends.
Personally, I hate cosplay photographers that focus mostly on the photo instead of on the cosplayer, because they tend to miss vital costume aspects. Flyaway hairs, costume being folded, or flattering posing are things that a photographer can help with because he/she is the one seeing the actual image. A cosplayer, while posing, can't see what the image will look like. I honestly don't care if the picture has perfect light and composition if it makes me or my costume look like a potato.

Most people start cosplay photography as a hobby. They start off with little knowledge and have to learn everything through trial and error.
They just enjoy it and most of them do not have a background in photography. Bashing them doesn't help them. You'd be better off giving concrit and telling them where they can find tutorials/information to get better.

For cosplay photography. I am not sure if you just want to work with cosplayers or if you actually want to earn money with it. Most photographers do it for free as it is practice for them as well. The best option would be to go to a convention and take photos there. build yourself a network of cosplayers and, if your quality is good enough and liked by most of the cosplayers, you could start asking money for off-con photoshoots. However, don't approach someone asking if they'd like to work with you and then asking money for it. Most of the time, when approached, it will be done TFP.

Just go to events and ask cosplayers to take pictures. Send cosplayers you like messages and ask them to shoot. Just do it, create your own page or w/e and you'll get there if you're really as good as you say you are.

If you want to do cosplay photography as a hobby than yes.
If you want to start with cosplay photography to earn money, then no. The reason cosplay photography has such bad photographer compared to other styles of photography is because most of them really see it as their hobby. There is no big market for professional photography in cosplay. Because most cosplayers barely have money to spend on their cosplays, let alone a professional photographer. So any photographer who wants to make a job out of their hobby won't we wasting their time in cosplay.

be wise and stick to Fashion. Maybe if you develope it more, you'll be able to lend some more jobs there.
