I haven't really had any bad experiences thankfully. I've sold/bought on a few platforms and honestly LM doesn't seem to have as many people lowballing as, say, depop/ebay do.

My one pet peeve with LM is people having the "make me an offer" option on an item they're selling then getting upset when you do actually, well, make them an offer. Read your own listings ffs.

I bought a dress from a seller and they accidentally sent me a completely different one. I mistook it as a gift and got attached to it, but then the seller messages me asking for the JSK back. I reluctantly sent it back (they paid for the postage) and finally got the dress I ordered. At the time, I was going through a family death so it struck me really hard that this lovely dress that I thought maybe my boyfriend had gifted me, was just a mistake. I ended up selling the original dress I bought too since it was such a bad memory.

The seller should open a paypal claim against her. If she can provide a tracking number and prove through conversations that the dress arrived but she already received a full refund, the buyer HAS to send it back on her own expense. It's written in Paypal's terms of service.

Man, my worst is so mediocre compared to others. Ordered an IW dress on LM. Seller did not disclose she owned a dog. The dress was covered in dog hair. Thank goodness I'm not allergic and the only drawback was having to waste about 12 sheets off my lint-roller to get it back in shape.

I appreciate when sellers disclose they have pets and also note that they make every effort to keep hair away from your clothes. Also, is it so hard to lint-roll your shit before you mail it out?

Not too bad, just weird. I bought a pair of shoes from a seller and she sent them out without charging shipping. I thought maybe I had missed that it was included in the price and she had already sent them so I didn't think anything of it. They arrived in a large packing box, about 2 feet cubed with no stabilization or packing at all and were sent through usps' media mail, which is illegal. The shoes were literally rattling around in this giant box, and by some miracle hadn't scuffed each other. It just made no sense at all to send them that way, she wasn't even scamming me out of shipping money since she never charged me.
My other was more of mail experience where a substitute for my regular mailman dumped everyone's packages on the side of the road, so I found a sopping wet dress in a torn bag when I checked the mail. Luckily it was a cheap chiffon taobao dress and didn't bleed.

I bought a jsk once and while the seller was addressing the package she somehow wrote on the dress. I didn’t want to tell her because muh anxiety. Dress still has a giant penmark on it, I’ve tried everything to get it off but I think it’s sharpie and it ain’t coming off anytime soon.
Also just received a dress and it smells so strongly of smoke I had to put it outside, but the smell keeps blowing in to my room. It was labeled as yellowing, but the colour looks fine. I’m going to try a gentle hand wash with vinegar but I’m worried for the print. Will test a waist tie.

I've found that eucalyptus and baking soda helps with smoke smells a lot. You can put it in a bag with eucalyptus branches and baking soda for a few days, it'll take the edge off at least. You can get eucalyptus at craft stores on the flower section.

I kind of don't like selling to people I know irl, I often get taken advantage of people who are friends or acquaintances who think they can get away with anything because years ago I had promised to them to give them first dibs on some items if I ever decide to sell them. Now they think they have special some status and act accordingly. There is one particular person I've had multiple of bad experiences with. We have an almost identical taste in dresses so whenever I'm selling a dress, she's often the first person claiming interest and wanting to buy it. She often asks for payment plans. Then she doesn't complete her last payment on the agreed date and it takes her days to message me back. Finally I receive the last payment 1-2 weeks later with the excuse that she was busy or had some unexpected bills to pay first. The thing is though that I often see her on FB buying stuff from other places in the meanwhile and being able to pay for them in time. I also bought a dress off her one time. She claimed it was never worn but it reeked horribly of BO that on top of washing it I had to air it out for days to get rid off the smell completey. It made me mad because I always bring the clothes I sell to her to the dry cleaner first to make sure they are in good condition before shipping. She is also fairly well known within the community, so I ofter wonder if other people had similar experiences with her or if I'm the only one that gets such a shameless treatmemt.

I was looking for a stupid AP bag for YEARS. I posted WTBs here, LJ, FB sales groups and our comm; had it on our comm wishlist; and had mentioned it multiple times in convos irl.

Unbeknownst to me, one girl in my comm, who I honestly considered my friend, had said bag. One day she decided to just list it on LM, and it was snatched (for way less than I was willing to pay) before I even saw it.
There's no way she didn't know I was looking for that. The fact that she never even said she owned it makes me feel like she just played me.

I didn't even feel like confronting her over it, I was so devastated. When a friend said, "Oh, hey, didn't you know anon was frantically searching for that bag?" She supposedly just shrugged it off.

I had this issue with yanii/yaniibee whatever the hell her name is. I purchased some necklaces from her which took her over two months to even send out even after PMing her several times. She ended up changing her name on FB during that time so other buyers couldn’t find her. After I finally got my necklaces, they were just thrown into a box and ended up getting badly scuffed from being thrown around and banging against each other.

It’s not hard to put each necklace into s ziplock baggy before shipping them out. It made me so angry she couldn’t take the time to do it properly when it only takes a minute or two.

I do too, USPS can be really rough with mail and I've received many torn bags, that extra layer of protection even a regular shopping bag gives can save a dress. Plus it just looks like more thought and care was put into it. I also get annoyed when bendable or breakable stuff like metal hair combs get sent in envelopes, instead of small boxes. When you send stuff out imagine the absolute worst will happen, because if it can be shoved in a mailbox it will, no matter what's inside the bag. I have a closet full of boxes, saved clear bags from CC purchases, and saved bags from electronics equipment at work to send things in.

So I opened up an eBay/PayPal claim , and then the seller hunted me down on Facebook to try to harass and insult me into dropping the claim. When I didn't respond to her, she found one of my friends on Facebook and started to harass her too. It was a really creepy experience. Apparently this was the final straw for her eBay account, which was in bad standing, and it got shut down, so that's why she freaked out so hard.

I bought one of my dream dresses, but the seller ended up backing out because of "family issues." I gave her the benefit of the doubt, but I saw that she started buying new shit so idk if what she told me was actually true.
