I'd really love to buy more skirts for the versatility, but holy shit a lot of them are tiny! I have a fairly normal sized waist at 64 cm and the one innocent world skirt I own barely fits.

That’s strange to me, most IW skirts I own have shirring, maybe the particular skirt you have runs small?

A lot of old school skirts are tiny, but most of the modern ones should fit you just fine. I was personally very surprised when trying on Die Walkure which is pretty old that the skirt is as big as it is. I have the same waist measurement as you and it's so big that it sits a good few centimeters below my waist. It's listed as 68cm online but I'm pretty certain that's a min rather than a max waist.

>Why are brands releasing less of them?
Skirts are the more downgraded and casual version of the dress counterpart. Since the current trend is more OTT it's less skirts overall. Skirts also have a stigma of being too small (though many brands have improved in recent years).
>Why do/don't you buy skirts?
I own many skirts and I like them because they feel more casual.
>Which print would you have bought if it was released as a skirt?
Many. I am skinny but have broad shoulders so many unshirred dresses mainly of the classic and otome brands just don't fit me right.
>What are your favourite things about skirts?
I can coord them in a fairly normie way. They are good travel clothes as they take up less space in a suitcase. I don't have to worry so much about getting them dirty/cleaning them, since they are cheaper. And they don't have as much details such as lace so they don't get stuck in places as easily as dresses. When I come home I just exchange the blouse for a sweater and ditch the petticoat and I'm comfy af. Some dresses can be uncomfortable after a while and can't be turned into convenience clothes.
>What is your favourite skirt coord?
I really like pic related.

I would buy more skirts but I feel the same way as >>9767990 does, & I feel like most lolita cutsews just look kind of childish. I'm a fat so I never bothered with skirts. I knew even if I could get them on they'd look like shit.

There is one cut of skirt that I think could look good on me. I don't know if the term is just high waisted skirt or what. But basically the style that is high waisted with a thick top band. Often there is corset lacing in the front or back. But I wear 100% sweet and I don't think I've ever seen this style in sweet. It's way more common in classic I think.

This is mostly a thing with old school skirts but it’s true for some modern ones, too. I’ve been trying to sell some skirts from 2016-2017 that max out at 70cm and nobody’s buying because of those measurements. Meanwhile the JSK cuts of those same releases go up to like a 85cm waist.

For me personally I hate how they look when I sit. Because it's pretty obvious how the waist band is digging into your chub . The wide band skirts do a better job at hiding your fupa and smoothing things out. Otherwise I'd say normal skirts make you look kind of lumpy if you are heavier.

Skirts accentuate my waist in the worst way.
I'm a fairly small person (156cm ~50kg) but very tubelike, with hardly any difference between my b-w-h measurements. So when I try to wear a skirt with a blouse, all the added bulk at my waist makes me look even wider. It draws a lot of bad attention there.

I wear less poofy skirts more casually, though.

Well fitted JSKs and OPs without shirring accentuate my waist the best.

>> No.9768204

>Why are brands releasing less of them?
I guess they just don't sell as well since OTT is the trend right now? I feel like AP is the only brand that has drastically stopped making skirts. Who else has?

>Why do/don't you buy skirts?
they're cheap enough to buy new that I never have to pay customs. I hardly ever buy new dresses unless they're on sale because I don't want to pay customs, but with skirts I never have to worry. Also they're more versatile and casual yada yada. I also don't think they're really that hard to coord at all, people say that a lot to deter newbies but I see so many cute skirt coords that are just are just simple stuff like >>9767954 and look really effortlessly pretty and put together. I'd argue that they're easier to coord than jsks because you don't have to deal with conflicting necklines.

>Which print would you have bought if it was released as a skirt?

Emily Temple Cute almost never releases a skirt these days, and when they do, it's more like an underskirt or something.
Juliette et Justine has like 5 times as many dresses as skirts now.

I've been buying from brands way less because of the lack of availability of skirts. I tend to like them better than dresses because I rarely like the bodice/cut of JSKs/OPs, skirts are less expensive, they're more versatile, and although I'm slim so fit is rarely an issue, if a skirt doesn't fit I can tailor a its waistband at home to fit me, whereas a dress I'd have to take to a tailor.

As others have said, OTT rules supreme and lolitas are too lazy. I think the Chinese lolitas have a lot to do with it, though. They don't really seem to do casual lolita, and skirts have a close link to casual and more toned down looks.

Nayrt but if anon has a big difference between their bust and waist measurements it probably isn't that easy. Even in normie wear it seems the option is to get something that looks flattering everywhere else but has trouble over the chest or something obviously too big that'll button over the chest. Yes alterations exist but those cost money. It can be easier to just hide the problem area altogether.

>> No.9769109

>Why do/don't you buy skirts?
I barely own any skirts because I have digestive issues that make a lot of elastic around my midsection uncomfortable, and these same issues cause me to bloat which can make the discomfort into pain. I sometimes wear garter belts to clip my petticoats onto so they hang and my bloomers I can fit on my hips. Oddly enough a corset doesn’t give me the same discomfort, but actually helps because it spreads out the strain. With the corset I am going to give it a try to wear the ones I have more. If that works I may consider buying a few more of them.

A minor problem with me with skirts is I can never leave well enough alone, for a lack of a better term. I'm constantly pulling up from habit and to make sure I don't show off anything, then I have to be mindful of not pulling up TOO much to have the length of the skirt wrong, and bloomers showing etc., then have to pull it back down. Wouldn’t you need to alter the skirt too? The issue is that when you are bigger you need more fabric to achieve the same look. Skirts from moitie are tiny at 62-66 max so I get needing to alter the waist but if you are a bunch bigger you will need to add a panel in the skirt as well. skirts are the cheapest because it’s small so I don’t think you can kill the value much but adding a panel will.
