lol no. It's a grainy potato photo, but that dress is the very definition of Milanoo-tier. Turn up your screen brightness and you'll be able to see how the bodice corset lacing is distorting the entire bodice. It's one thing when the skirt is wrinkled because it hasn't been ironed, it's a sign of cheap thin fabric when the dress isn't tight on someone and is still distorted by corset ties. The shape of it looks off, too. I don't think the pattern is cut right to fit her, which explains why she's hunched over to minimise how bad it looks. And this isn't even covering how the ribbons are obviously one-sided satin from the way they reflect light, or that we can't see the lace clearly and don't know how bad they are.

Fair enough. I'm on a laptop that's plugged in. The skirt has two corset lacings and the bodice has another corset lacing that's doing this weird thing where it looks wider at the waist than at the top. If we want to go down the social studies rabbit hole, then I'd like to add my two cents; I'm getting very tired of boundaries and "spaces" being a thing when it serves as a convenient way to segregate people you don't like out of groups but then it evaporates when it effects groupings of people that are currently holding the top oppression billing of the week.
While Lolita fashion is not an exclusive space for bio females, it is kinda formed into a space that celebrates the concept of feminine beauty detached from sexuality. Which use to be sort of the norm; being "beautiful" and being "sexy" were uniquely separate concepts a hundred years ago that could be combined but could also exist apart. Now a days these concepts have almost fused together; to be beautiful is to be sexually desired, to be sexy is to be pretty. Bringing this back around to Lolita, the fashion has always been about getting back to just being pretty without additional context and so when I see Drag Queens edging in I get very defensive. I think other J-fashions have a different "culture" or vibe to them, but it makes me uncomfortable to see something so rooted in sexual expression then wanting to interact with Lolita.

I think the most important thing here is what they think of it themselves. Visual-kei artists don’t see themselves as drag queens. Kaya has adressed this matter multiple times for example. The reason why they don’t want to be associated with it is because drag queens are associated with homosexuality, which is a taboo in japan. It's a bit difficult to explain in words because decora isn't as simply defined like lolita is; it does depend a lot on the general aesthetic of the outfit, but if we're talking about specifics I can tell you that I've seen plenty of people wearing barely matching, colorful clothes, while stockpiling hairclips on their bangs, and it looked really bad because they didn't take the time to be clever with their layering, their clothes weren't colorful enough/looked old and gross/generally looked sloppy, and they barely had any other accessories beyond their hairclips.
Decora is very OTT and in a way it's an organized chaos; the outfits might look like a mess but it's a mess that somehow works, and as odd as this might sound, I feel that pulling off decora takes a much sharper eye for aesthetic than lolita.

There's a Japanese site (and an app) called coordisnap that you can still find. It's for sharing snapshots of your coordinated clothes, hence the name coordisnap. The Japanese shortened the term coordinate to coorde (コーデ) and the lolitas picked it up from there.

Up to a certain point in time the Japanese brands didn't ship their stuff overseas, so if you wanted to find photos of lolita being worn, it was easier to search coordisnap for lolita brands.

Today, if you’re looking for outfits put together by Japanese girls, it’s still easier if you type the brand/print name (in katakana or whatever is popular to refer to them by) and then type コーデ (coord) in to find them. So there’s a practical use to remembering that they’re called coordinates in nihongoland.

Wow, this outfit shows you that details really do matter. I mean, the vest has some fit issues but seems to be pretty decently put together. Then you see the stark white lace with the red ribbon and the whole thing suddenly takes a steep dive into itaville.

The entire outfit, too, is so near yet so far. Like white x ivory is usually a successful formula, but because she put all the ivory on top and all the white at the bottom, the outfit now looks like a seperate top and bottom and no longer works. Or the shape of the blouse being almost right for ouji, but then that embroidered collar detail kind of dates it really obviously as a frumpy secretary blouse and not really an ouji blouse. Or one large button for her jabot would’ve been fine, but she put another on her cuff and now it looks silly. (We are going to ignore that she apparently matched both buttons to what is apparently a Metamorphose plastic shopping bag lol)
