We do this too. Main pieces by brand photos and the taobao offbrand are the itas are. Some of the taobao coords are nice so the itas don’t think we are separating them. Then we will do like antique beast headdress groups and the hairbow groups. Just to mingle the brands a bit. We have brand itas but they are easy to manage in the photos.

Next row up - Gothic girl with cthullu sailor OP looks more vintage than Lolita - if she's going to wear such a minimal OP, she needs to do more with the rest of her outfit to make it Lolita. Teddybearbag girl is giving me ageplay vibes - I think it's the ill-fitting dress as well as the bear, and that her hair looks too childlike for her face. Girl in brown isn't dressing for her bodytype. Pink hair and blue dress has a nice figure, but needs to do something with her wig and wear tights as she's tall. Pink dress with gallery print (can't remember the print name off the top of my head) looks so trashy in that wig and hipster glasses. Next row up again. Girl in navy looks awkwardly posed and you can see that she's wearing a high-waisted/empire cut and that does not suit her - just makes her boobs look even huger and more matronly. Girl with hat isn't wearing any visible black other than the hat, which looks out of place, and is hiding the girl behind her in mint. Red and white old-school Lolita is barely visible, but from what's on show it's fine. Dude next to her doesn't belong in the group pic if he's a hanger-on - wearing flowers does not an ouji make. Girl in pink X white might be wearing a normie blouse, but otherwise looks fine - I think she's wearing printed tights, but shoes might be off, or that might be shadowing, can't tell. Can't really see what everyone else is wearing. I can make out a black and white cheque jacket and terrible hair, and someone with a blonde bob (wig?) and unfortunate face, but that's about it - too pixelated to make out the rest. Ouji in the back row with goatee might look OK?

There is this girl in my comm who is so painfully ita it hurts. She wears the same crap over and over. JSKs were never recommended as "easy" for beginners, they're recommended because beginners often start their request with "I'm building a wardrobe, what's a versatile item I can make more than one look with?" and the answer to that is jsk. Bonus is most times the jsk is the one that's shirred, so it's easier to buy rather than hunt for that one OP that isn't too big or too small for your size.

To be really fair, the actual advice for beginners is usually to get a matched set jsk with headwear (and socks if possible). Then get a set of bag, shoes and a ribbon hairclip/comb in one single colour (that doesn't clash with your dress). Then do a basic bitch coord with either black, white or ivory (matched to the trim/print on the jsk) blouse + legwear. Very hard to go wrong with this basic bitch formula, and if you do short sleeves, long sleeves and princess sleeve blouses that's 3 different looks with one jsk, and we're not even touching on adding shawls and boleros or switching out to a different headwear. Then for your second jsk just get another set that doesn't clash with your basics, and now you're well on your way to a decent wardrobe.

For some reason people just like to be extra extra and stand out by ditching all of that and going the route of loliables, "matching sets are so boring", "oh no basic bitch looks so newbie", "Haoris are so trending right now, I'll just wear this shiny satin souvenir kimono like one" etc etc. And then boom, ita.
