nah, I can't cite specific examples anymore cause from what I know the black tech archive isn't really a thing anymore - but like there were girls posting in CoF who had jackets just like that minus the bows and people were not into it.

Had nothing to do with OTT. I guess the outfits looked more casual but it just came off as like a gimmicky "I'm in a girl gang squad" vibe and it's hard not to have that feel when you have a jacket like that paired with a nice dress.

It just reeks of normalcy since it's a very common jacket style to begin with.

But forreal though, it's the small tiny "useless" details like the bows on pockets, the pearl buttons and the "lace" details that make me want this jacket, and not some other random "common jacket" that doesn't have bows on its pockets.

I mean, we're talking about lolita. A small tiny little detail such as whether the collars are rounded or pointy marks a blouse as either totally way too sweet, or totally wrong for sweet lolita.

>> No.9986926

I'm kind of split on this response, because to tell you the truth I want the jacket because it matches a lot of my lolita stuff, not because I want to wear it in lolita.

On the other hand, I feel like if you so easily dismiss all the little "Details" and go straight to "this reminds me of all the other jackets that don't have the same details", then I can't put it out of my head that you're someone who would "loliable" an office blouse because they're basically all blouses with/without little details like lace and trim and cute buttons.

idk, you do you I guess. Lolita or not doesn't factor into whether I get the jacket so I guess I don't really care about it either way.

Anon they get less than a hundred bucks a month from Patreon. Coding and website design takes a loooot of time, every minute they spend on maintaining and fixing lolibrary is basically money out of their own pocket. Yes and I'm very thankful for that. But at the same time, I bet a lot, lot more people would aid financially if they knew what exactly it is for and if it would guarantee that the website features would be fixed in a certain timeframe. Hell, I personally would be fine with LB being down for 1-5 months if that means they save the costs to hire more devs.

Have you ever thought about just asking if you're so bothered that you don't know what goes on behind the scenes? I mean it's open source and was moved from a shitty platform without losing data to open source that a dev is doing for free.

If you join their Patreon the dev posts updates but I guess that would require actually caring enough to donate. I've been trying to sell shit on Lacemarket for ages but it's just not happening. I've lowered the price, given free shipping, but no one bites. Lolibrary dev here, y'all can literally just ask me this shit on twitter.

Lolibrary's monthly costs are variable and *just* about covered month-to-month at around $230 between patreon and paypal donations (the biggest chunk of our costs are Google Cloud). In the move to the new site I dropped our costs by $70/month because Algolia got expensive really fast for us.

To hire a dev it'd cost a hell of a lot more; my hourly rate alone starts at $50, so I just stick to my full-time job.

Thats all great but why did your team decide to make the search function basically defunct? A huge part of using lolibrary was finding stuff i DONT know the name to, but now i have to use drop down menus and hope you have the key words im looking for (so far you dont have tartan or waist-less). I just miss the ability to put in anything that is pertaining to the dress and having things pop up, now im lucky if i get a result.

>> No.9987693

sub out "your team" with "me" there.

Also the text search from the previous version of the site was an index of all fields on an item, heavily skewed towards tags (3x multiplier) and english name (5x multiplier).

I might make text search check for tags too in future, but I wanted to drop Algolia ASAP. We were growing past their plan limits (we regularly hit close to 1 million search ops a month) and the next plan was significantly more expensive.

Just filter first before you start typing. Also it's not fuzzy yet, so it's just an exact match including spaces.

Here's the code specifically: https://github.com/lolibrary/lolibrary/blob/master/app/frontend/app/Http/Controllers/Api/SearchController.php#L49

posted in feels thread too but i am really just so pissed at japonica.

this AP coat i have been lusting after for a while was on mbok for peanuts and i put in a bid with japonica since my usual SS is closed saturday. i put it in around 8AM japan time (9PM my time) so i'd be up in case of any questions. well, THIS BITCH messages me at 4AM my time which was ONE HOUR before the auction ended to ask if it was ok to bid on it because the removable wrist fur (which wasn't pictured at all in any of the seller photos) wasn't included. I was up for 4 hours after i put in my bid. i am just so fucking annoyed at them.

Brands have released detachable collars in the past, you can find them secondhand on occasion but they're not very common so you'll have to be patient until they pop up. This actually sounds like Japonica was up and did put in the work to message the seller and then eventually the seller disclosed the missing cuffs. So that's four hours explained -- it's day time for Japan so the seller may have been the one taking an hour or so to get back to Japonica's questions.

next time if you want an item you have to leave a note saying 'i don't care about any damages or missing items please proceed.'

It can be frustrating but think from their PoV - if they bought an item for a customer with missing parts, they can't return it and the customer might throw a fit too.

Next time I'd honestly go with FJ for auctions. Their auto bidding system is probably the best system I have dealt with for those sorts of things. For Mercari/frill, japonica is honestly fast enough for me on most days but you can still run into time issues with them.

That's not a good idea imo, I feel like the necklines would clash with one another.
As an aside, you can wear this JSK with a white cutsew or blouse that has a black trim if you're ever so inclined but don't limit yourself to that or you won't have many options for variety.

Lazy shoop but it could be cute. Anon would need to wear the blouse without the bow so it doesn't obstruct the details on the JSK's bodice, and definitely use musical motifs in her accessories to tie everything together, but I think it can work.

I usually just wear comfy jammies or something if I'm home all day doing chores, etc. If I am going out later, I'll dress before I leave, or if I'm hosting or something, I wear an apron, though usually I do not do chores or cooking in my brand.

>> No.9992197

>>9991823

I have an apron for my non-lolita house clothes, because I don't want to change clothes every time I do the dishes or cook. It's much easier to put on an apron, let it take the splatter or whatever, then hang it up and now I can go back to rolling on the couch without worrying that I may be transferring some splatter I didn't notice onto the couch or whatever. The apron gets washed end of the week (or if it takes a major spill).

I don't really understand cleaning in lolita. Cooking is fine, especially if you're already dressed up and just want a quick snack, but cleaning can't be easy with that fluff getting in the way.

Eating is a weird one, though. Who needs an apron while eating? How do you function when you eat out someplace nice? Even if it's crab legs flying everywhere, you kind of need a shower afterwards and not an apron.

The ones saying that likely aren't the daily lolitas. From experience the daily lolitas are more likely to be the type that tells you "it's just clothes, you get used to not worrying about possibly staining or spilling things on it the more you wear it out and about".

Requiring an apron for eating is just strange no matter how you dice it. You might as well ask if girls wear aprons over their prom dresses and evening gowns because it's expensive and they wouldn't want to get punch spilled on it.
