Not all lesbians are masculine. There isn't a shortage of feminine lesbians or lesbians in general who are attracted to femininity. It's a combination of the over-sexualization of cosplay on the internet, geek culture becoming more normalized and conventions being more prolific.

Before the age of patreon costhots, it was a niche hobby enjoyed by a few motivated crafters. With the hobby being more common and accessible it allowed more people to enjoy it, but also started the online cosplay modeling (aka stripping) for money. This sold cosplay as a fetish rather than a hobby giving normies the impression that cosplay and sex were intertwined. That in turn gives them the impression that it would be easy to get laid at a con. This leads to the people who only go to cons for the rave and room parties, These are the asshats who try to sneak in with a flask and/or drugs without buying a badge.

That's just one example of bad players in the con scene. You also have the socially awkward nerds who think you owe them something if you cosplay their waifu or the guys who wear low effort cosplays and thinks that will get them a cosplay gf. Then there are the guys who are just disgusting creeps regardless of it they're at a con or not.
