Fashion in general often attracts people who are opposed to having children for one reason or another. But lolita fashion in particular has a large pool of people trying to preserve a very specific type of youth, and the way a lot of lolitas treat their clothing like it’s some untouchable fragile thing makes sense as why they’d want to avoid children. Kids are messy as fuck. I don’t hate kids, but I’m not about to wear lolita where I know a lot of them will be.

We didn't get Vivcore to close. She "temporarily" closed her shop when she moved to a new state with her then-husband, then shortly after they got a divorce, she had to move to a smaller place and she dropped her lolita/retro/glamour fashion business and blogging lifestyle entirely in favor of doing strip routines. Now she makes/sells fancy strip and burlesque outfits.

It's not a con. Ticket prices are tiered for a reason and GA ticket holders often seem to expect more but VIP are usually happier. Just an observation. I think there is the potential for everyone to have a good time no matter the tier but it takes a decent effort to meet, mingle, make friends at this kind of an event. It also really helps if you are wearing a very good coordinate.

IMO the vast majority did though. There were a few 'sour faces' others were referencing (and I also did not get, I tried talking to one girl for a good half hour before giving up because she just wouldn't reciprocate), but I think the majority of people were very friendly and outgoing. I was really happy with the coordinates.

I had a pretty positive experience because of the people, but if it comes down to the event itself, it's not something I'd go to by itself. I would really have to consider who's coming next year to reassess if I want to come again.

A suggestion for those going next year. You have a full year to pull together 2 solid coordinates that fit correctly are cleaned and ironed, to find shoes that you can keep on all day, to get a not-itchy wig that is secured and brushed...you get the idea. Since the event is an all-weekend gala (with a tea), I'm not really mad at the food situation. They advertised light refreshments on day one and I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about that more. On day 2, I was excited for the pageant, so the food portion was less important to me. I think people focus too much on the food, t b h they won't be happy until there is a traditional tea. Having that catered on a remote site is not cheap. It's really easy to get around Kansas City and go to breakfast and dinner.

> I didn't go but I'm going to chime in anyway with my opinion.

Venue, guest travel and accommodation, meals etc. Don't they have to pay to fly the Triple Fortune designers in and then pay for all their expenses?

IDD and VDD overscheduled themselves this month. They were at Oddities in LA last weekend, had a booth somewhere 3 weeks ago, and IDD will be at Träumerei this weekend. Give indie brands some R&R. Not everyone has to revolve their lives around a fashion. Find other hobbies. Seems IDD does it with traveling and baroque.

How were the fashion show models/looks by AP and TF?

>> No.10180510

Honestly all the designs looked like bad theatre production ensembles. Triple fortune just looked like cosplay quality stuff. Ikkeman mode has some of the worst and most unflattering cuts.

I run cons with brand sponsored tea parties. I know how expensive it is. No, working with remote caterers or venues isn't easy or cheap but that's why not everyone can be an event planner. They advertised it as an elegant tea party so we expected decent food. I won't forgive them for misrepresenting that and they should be held accountable. They should learn from it, budget better and improve on it next year. It's really not that hard.

I was very excited for 3F, but it was quite a disappointment. Only some looks felt like much thought was put into them compared to usual.

>> No.10180577

Event planners spent all our money on getting a low hanging fruit Japanese guest and renting out union station. This con is a bust. I know it’s the only lolita con we have here but we won’t have it for long. It’s not worth the travel or money. And for all those who had a good time. Of course you did. You got to do what you love and hang out with people and make new friends and feel beautiful for a weekend. Of course you enjoyed yourself. But Let’s not let that fact cover up the fact that paradiso is a mistake

>> No.10180584

Friend of staff, no one was happy with the food, even staff from what I heard. The food was rushed and not at all like the taste test/samples. The pudding was a last minute switch that NO ONE approved of. Not even staff knew what it was and we all about died trying it. We all can collectively agree Day two food was more hit than miss. Other issues arose with them, and from what I was told it won’t under any circumstances be the same company next year.

Don't advertise yourself as a business and sign contracts if you feel like dropping them because of your own poor decisions to overbook. IDD has a long history of bailing because she feels like it so anyone who does business with her should be wary, anyway.

IDD is flakey trash. This wasn’t some last minute overbooking by management. It’s a shitty move and more people should be posting about it on social media so maybe she’ll explain her accountability or else she’ll just feel like she’s getting away with it and will continue to screw people over.

It also sort of aligns with her customer service (or lack thereof). She makes beautiful designs but we all know that they're ridiculously hard to get, and her customer service isn't great. This is not out of character for her.
