Does AP bother to do socks anymore? Lately they’ve been doing stockings, printed tights and ankle socks, unless my mind is just drawing a blank. I miss the pretty OTK’s of yesteryear with intricate designs but maybe AP just doesn’t have the tech for that anymore?

I have the sheer ankle socks from dreamy parfait and they have fruit designs in the mesh but they’re blurry and just straight up not as sturdy as the Candy Border OTKs I’ve had for over a decade. I’ve wanted AP tights but I’m afraid of ripping or running them, tights are so much more fragile than socks..

My problem with the soft dresses is that they usually don't even come with the built in petticoat anymore and since the fabric is soft and thin, they alone don't seem to cover the details of my petticoat enough. I've got one of the ones with ruffles in the middle, and new soft fabric dresses doesn't smoothly set over it and there's a visible bump where the ruffle is. With older, firm dresses there is no problem like this and the silouette is so much prettier. New dresses often also seem to drape very weirdly.

Are they only rereleasing the round jsk cut?

>> No.10188391

I feel like the cotton dresses we're not breathable because the lining was always some synthetic fabric, but I don't give a fuck about that.

The cotton dresses were thicker and had a more structured fit. It would create smooth lines on the bodice and it would have a built in petti layer. The way it would sit on the actual petticoat would be so.... Idk, crisp? Or more voluminous? Idk..

But the softer fabrics bunch up weird around the bust and sides.. thin fabric with no lining required not just more of a petticoat but for it to also be soft and smooth.. Lolita has just changed it's feeling completely. I'm not a completely bitter oldfag though. I do believe this softness definitely has a place in lolita especially in OTT and summer pieces but for fucks sake stop trying to fix what wasn't broken.

Also not to mention cotton pieces just feel sturdier and you don't get damage in the fabric from sewing on a button.

I've seen a number of people complaining that they can't afford to get the MTO with so little advance notice to save up, so I imagine resale will be pretty solid. Holy Lantern's had tons of releases and still goes for about retail, if not more.

I do expect the fabric change and limited colors/cuts to drive up the prices on the first release, since the obvious differences will let it retain its status/clout. The value of the original bag will probably take a hit.

White vinegar sprayed all over the red parts of the print and then ironing it sort of helped. There were parts that were maybe in a different print batch? I'm not sure. The front of the dress bled more. I was able to reduce it to a point where you can't tell unless you're nose is against the print by rubbing a damp color catcher sheet against the parts that were bleeding.

On one hand, I do wish they released another cut, like the yoke version for those who are smaller.

On the other hand, AP has been cutting down on the amount of cuts and shirring options. Back when I started, there was normally at least one cut that would be wearable. Lately, I'd be lucky to find a release I could wear and normally it's high-waisted. Usually it's the fatty-chans who have to sit releases out or pay to get items altered.

It's sort of an ironic twist of fate. But maybe this will be overwhelmingly popular that they'll release other colors and cuts too. I'm sure we might see enough complaint from the Japanese and Chinese comms, let alone the Western comms.

Maybe try petitioning and requesting it? They did eventually listen and got this re-released after all these years of us hoping for it.

My shop situation is a little weird ATM since I'm in the process of rebranding and eliminating stock with my old name over summer conventions, but you can email me: hcsockanon@mintiness.org for now!

Here's how they're looking now. I need to fix up a few things and make a back design. It'll be probably be a back view with a honey bear jar behind (infront) of the pancakes. I'll design the backside so you can wear one leg forward and one backwards if you want, so you can see all the elements.

My only concern is that not everything lines up perfectly. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I love the scallop design, and I like the red and blue on the bottom. But I may make another background design that's more likely to align properly.

This is a lot more work than I normally put into these, but that's good!

Also I just bought a Fancy Candy set so I might just make some matching/inspired legwear for it too. I was already thinking about a candy or macaron theme. May as well.

It has measurements roughly similar to the MCD jsk, but more ease in the waist (about 8cm).

Though MCD has a shorter bodice and shorter non-adjustable straps. I found a few pics through google that illustrate how it fits on different sizes. I wasn't looking for good coords, just a variety of body types.

So my conclusion is that if you are pretty plus sized, you're still going to get boobloaf.

If you are very, very, unhealthily thin, it's going to be a sack on you. If you are thin but not at unhealthy looking levels, it's going to be a bit looser than you may prefer.

In both of these cases, making the waist shirring smaller may be an ideal option.

If you're average size (fits more recent unshirred AP to partial shirring fine) it'll probably fit you pretty okay.

The waist is probably the biggest concern, I feel, unless you are quite flat-chested. It's more common in the west for women to have larger cup sizes (we're not talking about horizontal bust measurement). As in a DD or F with a 94cm bust may not be uncommon, whereas in Japan it may be less common. The bodice is still going to be cut for a B-cup and no amount of shirring will change that.

Another thing that might fix the issue is making a higher button hole on the strap, so the bodice doesn't sit as low if you're smaller. All of these are modifications a fairly new person to sewing should be able to do without entirely ruining the piece. But understandably, people will want to take it to be professionally done. I don't imagine those changes would be super expensive. I've done modifications in these areas before and it was pretty quick and easy.

I was thinking along the lines of one of these styles of bows, but maybe the longer tails are throwing it off? I'm considering replacing the dot ribbon with a banner style ribbon like on the pancake bag so that there's less probability of the design not lining up when printed.

But thanks, It's an easy fix either way!

My main concern with the sketchier style is that it will likely end up blurry, fuzzy, sloppy and less crisp when worn and especially after several washings. The designs I've done in the past have always looked nicer and lasted longer with crisper shapes and outlines rather than anything more painterly or sketchy. They were more popular in sales too.

At the end of the day, I'm not making these JUST go to specifically for HC, but to be something that matches the style of other things I make so that it's all cohesive. I'm also trying to make something that will sell to non-lolitas and general convention people too. So I have to keep all of that in mind.

Lightening the contrast on the lines wouldn't be too hard to do though. That's a simple lighten layer mode and a brush. So I can try that to see if it softens the look a little in a way that keeps the crispness of the design. I can probably soften some of the shading a little bit.

Explain, in words or pictures beyond using general blanket statements like "shit" and "terrible". I can fix what I think could be shitty and terrible about them and not change the issue you personally have.

Too detailed, not detailed enough, shape, not flat enough, not fluffy enough, color, shading, shading style, past trauma involving plain pancakes that gives you panic attacks and you can only stand to look at pancakes with filling? It's rather vague.

Thank you, that's far more informative.

I went over this one very quickly and softened the overall appearance and gave it a fast painterly sort of appearance. The edges are still a little rough, but is this more along the lines of what you'd like to see?

Again, I'm really afraid these will look much better on a screen but look fuzzy and less crisp on a final, worn product.

I think if anon took some time to refine the design and do a less harsh style like the example posted above, I think they'd be really great and I'd be interested in buying them. As is, the style looks clunky and resembles old flash games.

I feel that this release is so big because it's mainly targeted for Western sizes? It's pretty huge for a regular Japanese girl, I'll probably have to add some lacing in when I get it. Should be easy enough.
