I really want to go to a con again, last time was AFO 2016, super experienced first timer. I had 0 money and some cheap cosplays i threw together and overall, i felt unwelcome. is this because i had 0 friends with me?? how do i feel more comfortable at conventions here in florida, what is the most comfortable (with a lot of stuff to do without being in a giant fandom) convention here??
i really struggle to find a con that actually has something interesting to do anymore.

Just got back home from AFO.
For the first time in years iv'e just outright left early and genuinely felt like I shouldn't have gone.
From the occasional Tumblr/SJW feeling virtue Signal Panels to THE SAME FAT FUCK ASSHOLE MANGA BOOTH GUY to the cringy cancer and honestly just low energy feeling.

And another thing that bothered me is that two people I follow said they didn't even get a reply back about a dealer booth and they sell Gundam Kits/Toku stuff like Kamen Rider/Super Sentai and once again there was like ZERO Toku stuff in the Vendor Room but the same like 6 people there from every single year with the same shit. .

It's like "yea this is AFO, but fuck it feels low"
I felt genuinely Disappointed..

How would this even be feasible? Their only options are to cancel the event and lose any money invested or to keep it going and try to at least make some back. It's ridiculous to think that an event like this can just be kicked reorganized days before it happens. I was feeling rather lonely so I went inside to chat it up with one of the maids. 10$ to get in, you have small selection of brownies, cookies, tea, and lemonade. The maids themselves are trying to be more like the Japanese maids, you request them to draw something on a plate and they use chocolate syrup to make cute art on the plate. The reason why there was a lot of people is because they never experienced a maid cafe in their life.

They had posted on their Instagram that otakufest was a more casual thing since they normally do a much more elaborate show.
This group has been at almost every con in south Florida at this point and they're always popular so I'll probably try to go to the next event to see the difference
