Only went to Sydney on Friday and Saturday but I loved:

I don't know about other cons but the PAX ones are all pretty good, at least from my experiences. I was deathly ill one year (shouldn't have gone but it's my big yearly treat) and they were all more than happy to treat me as the same as someone wearing a 'disabled' badge, letting me in panels early, making sure I had priority seating. etc.

The one metre rule getting announced mid con was absurd. They had to delete dozens of comments to damage control, including site screenshots, as they tried to update the website policy section.

Just generally Avcon's doing a horrendous job on their social media. The twitter fuck up was a bad start, deleting the account was a weird move too. They're currently deleting shit on the fb page and group like crazy and whenever shit gets too real they just start spamming copypasta telling people that the con's volunteer run and to email the secretary. I'm tempted to make a bingo card for their responses, they're so consistent. They had to disable instagram comments too. If you see anything at all interesting, screenshot and archive immediately because it'll be gone in 5 minutes.

I own firearms myself, do ANZAC shiz, pic related. From what I've seen 1. VicPol don't usually check you directly if its some sort of event (I.e. I do volley fires. They'd just ask my group's connection to make sure we all have licenses and assume everyone with a rifle on the day has one). And 2. Turn bit of a blind eye if its clearly over-the-top/in good nature.

It doesn't have to "look a lot like a gun" to be seen as an imitation weapon. Hell, some files I've been sent from VicPol themselves have had fucking space-age looking blaster toys be actual single shot handguns among real looking ones that were toys. Its not that it 'can' be an actual firearm, its how the LRD/VicPol decide how much of an ass they want to be over a subjective issue to an objective problem.

I'm not arguing against you as a person, just letting you know that;
A) VicPol can and will fuck your shit if that person feels like it and

You don't need to be pro. I know photographers who shoot cosplay and arent pro and do it as a hobby. They can take photos really well and some with the bare minimum. I also know photographers who buy the most expensive camera set up but shoots shitastic photos.
