I really miss Montreal shoes. My first lolita shoes were from them and went through countless repairs but lasted me for 5 years. I wish I continued to repair and keep them because they were really comfortable and I can't find same style anywhere now.

Normie MarieJanes or T straps. Simple, but easy to accesorize with shoe clips when needed for a particular coord. Or take it to a leather workshop and add permanent ribbons on them if I really feel the pair could benefit from it.
Bonus for easy to repair if my clumsy ass falls and fucks the sole.

Random pair of victorian inspired leather booties#4. From a local manufacturer, but 10/10 design. Sadly, lost them when the airline lost my luggage after a Paris tea party.
Orthopedic inserts + ankle support are musts for me. Scoliosis fucked my feet and I need to still be careful with comfort (and safety lol).

Tried brand shoes from AP, my inbetween sizes feet weren't happy. I stick to normie half sizes whenever possible and I am pretty happy. Sure, looking for fitting pairs takes time (and alterations) but in the end I think it's worth it.

Yup - I wear my proper orthotics in flatter shoes and any heels or boots that fit them. For an event where I am wearing shoes that don't properly fit my orthotics, I put in extra padding at the ball of my foot + specific metatarsal padding and often tape my arch as well as using a stick-in arch support.

I bought mine in a VW store, and the sales lady recommended wearing the straps around the ankle. This works well for me, and I think it's common, judging from many of the "real world" images I've seen online.

God, no. 100% not worth it. They are reasonably comfortable, but if you wear them in the kind of weather you'd wear boots in the pleather damages very easily - probably the quickest of any of the lolita shoes I've worn. You'd be better off buying offbrand boots and buying/making a set of cuffs for them.

Any recs for decent quality classic-appropriate shoe brands that are easily available in Europe? I’m looking for (non-oxford) flat or low-heeled shoes for daily wear but everything in normie stores is so ugly, and vintage-inspired shops mostly sell high heels. I like shoes like pic related by B.A.I.T. but shipping + customs would nearly triple the price and I’m not sure if that’s worth it for fake leather.

So being almost a decade into the fashion, I've worn out some of my lolita shoes until there are holes in the bottom. I've also sustained a personal injury that gave me severe back issues. I opt to not wear heels as much as possible. My priority with new shoes now has been quality, comfort, and longevity. What are some of the highest quality loliable shoes out there? Btw, my wardrobe is almost entirely gothic lolita.

The only I guess "brand" heels I have are some older Yosuke Mary Jane's and my God you can tell the difference from most off brand stuff. Much better built and and actual wood heel. I also had these lambskin heels with ruffles that was some expensive brand but they were uncomfortable...

Fluevog has great quality and occasionally some more Gothic heels. They're super expensive though... Also obviously VW and RHS are flat so they're more comfy, but I don't know how that kind of height would work with your injury. Yosuke's older shoes are also nice

Angelic Imprint. I have these on the way now, but there are different styles that have a yellow option and you are also able to customize some of the shoes and ask for yellow.

That's what I did for this pair. The only color options were white and black, but I was able to ask for yellow. (I also asked for a lower heel which you are also able to do on some shoes.)

Mind it is darker than the one you showed. I, too, would love to know where I can buy pale yellow shoes if anyone knows.

I own a bunch of Liz Lisa shoes and boots and most of them are comfortable. But I actually own the shoes in the pic you used, and they are probably the most uncomfortable pair I own. They have no "give" and the inner soles are super hard. I definitely wouldn't recommend that pair unless you bought them a size up and put cushioned insoles in them.

The price just isn't worth it for something that will most likely scuff the first time you wear them. I'd rather spend 150 bux on leather shoes/docs that will last or at least 3 pairs of cheaper lolita shoes that no one cares will fall apart.

I wore a pair of Fluevog Kitcheners (a lot nicer in person than on their site) to my wedding and danced on them all day. My back was feeling it more than my feet at the end of the night.
I have to wear bandaids on my little toe because something about the shape of the toebox scrapes them, but as far as heels go they're really comfortable.
Keep in mind they tend to have firm soles, so you might want to order a little bigger and use inserts if you want squishier soles.

I feel like I am the only one that has quality issues with them. I love the idea behind it and historical designs, but after having 4+ pairs of shoes from them I can honestly say that the quality just isn't there for the extortionate price. All but one pair has some sort of defect, from a "flopping" noise on one shoe that I simple can't trace, but I suspect is the tongue to a pair of satin mules that had a snapped heel like the 3rd time I wore it.

They literally make all their shit in China, and then have a big tirade in their FAQ about muh production costs in western countries and how it doesn't affect the end result but its complete shit. Also their leather is real, but of medium to poor quality. All of this would be fine if their shoes were around the $50 mark, but at most pairs costing around $125-200 its highway robbery. I can get a pair of "Made in Italy" designer shoes on clearance for that price, with actual quality leather.

Depends on the style. I have the dolly-01 which I bought back in 2013, and they're going strong today. I only wear them out 3-4 times per year because my feet slip around a bit due to the bump toe, so walking downhill can get sore. I've had bad experiences with a pair of platform boots where the upper detached from the foam sole, but they were the higher 6" ones.

I have wide feet and my little toes seem to be at war with every shoe I've ever worn. They stick out so that they're not comfortable even in the widest shoes I've been able to find, and I can't seem to get them to stay in line even with tape. You can't. Either they're lolita boots, or actual wet weather/snow boots. I started getting all sorts of back and foot pain earlier this year. Didn't realize how I walk wore my boot soles unevenly. The boots are about 3 years old with near daily use and when I finally looked at the soles I realized what was going on. You can take your shoes to a local cobbler to be resoled, although be warned. The glue they use isn't super secure(at least where I went). Get a bottle of shoe too to keep on hand for after.
Long story short, after they were resoled my boots are much better and my body has healed pretty nicely.

Not as sturdy as the bodyline shoes I used to have, but they had a much thicker heel. I got the higher heels and wear them at least once a week for around 8 hours. Have had them for a few months and am fairly pleased. I bought them used(but still in really good shape) and added moleskin as soon as I noticed rubbing(breaking in process). Bigfoot lady lolita here. Opt for heels, avoid flats. Heels shorten the footprint a bit and make your feet look a touch shorter. Also, consider the shape of your toes. Rounded? Pointed in the center? It sounds more like a callus if you got it from walking a lot on one vacation. Pamper your feet for a while and use those corn/callus remover pads. I got mine in that weird part of the local grocery store where the shoe inserts are. They're really cheap.
I've got a bone that pushes against my pinky toe and creates a callus on one toe. I went to the foot doctor because I wasn't sure what was causing it and he said the only permanent solution is surgery, but removing the calluses with those things keeps them under control, let's me keep wearing cute shoes, and keeps me from being out of work. I may do the surgery when I retire.

Also, throw out those shoes too tight shoes and order a size or two up to give your toes more room to slow the development of new ones. Use moleskin to pad the inside of the shoes any time you notice rubbing as you break them in to prevent blisters.

I have a bit of a bony protrusion, like I was describing earlier, and it causes a callus. I didn't know it was that until I went to the foot doctor and he said the only way to permanently fix it was surgery, but as I am able to fix the callus part myself to keep doing the DIY thing. This depends heavily on what style of military lolita you wear. Sweet military needs totally different shoes to an elegant goth or classic look.

Lace up boots are the best, generally with minimal extra ornaments. Bows and chains and stuff can look very out of place in a military coord. If you can pull it off, super shiny black boots can look awesome and really amp up the military dress feel. Platforms and chunky soles are great but high heels can look bad imo.

Combat boots or Doc Marten style boots are generally a good choice if you lean towards the punk end of the style. Solovair is the best quality for Docs, afaik.

I have owned quite a few pairs of Killstar boots, personally. They're sort of a meme brand and their clothing quality is hit or miss, but their shoe quality ime is absolutely fantastic and they're much more comfortable than most brands. Note that they do run on the narrower side of average on many styles, so I always go up half a size. They're a good choice for gothic military looks.

For something like your pic, I'd go with something like Fluevog's Venables in black (though your pic looks very low quality and like a poor choice for military lolita)

Other than those, you could look at Funtasma. They make a lot of costume-inspired pieces. Demonia has some styles that might work, but I think think a lot of their styles are a little too mallgoth to work for military and their quality varies. New Rock has some good options and their quality is good.

I think Brako is a spanish brand? They have lots of ugly designs, but also some cute ones (the long boots especially). They also come in multiple colors for each style.
Otherwise depending on where you are, you might want to check out stores that specialize in shoes for traditional clothing? I got a super cute pair of leather boots from a local shoemaker. They are a bit more expensive, but the leather is nice and the soles are stitched and not just glued, so they are very durable.

I actually like holographic stuff with lolita, but it takes a lot of skill to coord it well and most people just aren't that good. You have to lean into a different style a bit, like uchuu kei, which most people aren't good at. And stuff like lace and fabric types really starts to matter a lot, because creamy lace and classic cotton don't combine well with plastic.

Sock Dreams is one of those sites that back in the day was a good source for items that worked "well enough" for lolita so everyone recommended it, but in this day and age where we have easily accessible taobao, secondhand brand, etc and it's so easy to get actual loliable legwear, their current offerings don't really cut it by today's standards.

Here and there they have stuff that could work in the right coord- but about as much as any normie fashion legwear. It's not really as good a place to recommend anymore, imo.

If you’re not sure what your European size is or you aren’t positive that a 9 will fully translate I’d recommend going and getting your feet sized to that to give you a clearer indication of what Japanese sizes would fit well if that’s the route you’re going.

I have a little toe that stuck out alot from my other toe, and even if my shoe fit and it doesn't show at first, it get the indent from the way I walk ( even on shoes that are too big ). Is there a way to prevent that ? I was thinking about stuffing the part in front of my toe to round out the shape, it doesn't bother me for ugly daily shoes but for my prettier one I prefer to take extra precaution

I'm way late on this but I have these! I bought them maybe 2-3 years ago and they were fairly true-to-size then; the slope of the sole is a little sharp so I would recommend sizing up to guarantee comfort (I have fairly narrow feet, so it isn't a problem for me)
