it makes me sad for multiple reasons. like you're destroying a dress and making its value 0$ with those alterations. i say this bc i see so many of them try to sell these altered dresses for high prices like why get into the fashion and do this if youre going to sell everything a month later... also feel the same about skellies that alter dresses. dont alter brand for the love of god. there's not many in the world and the ones they alter arent ones with mutliple re-releases...
i also feel bad for them, like its completelty valid to want to feel pretty and wear lolita. but theres taobao brands and some american ones coming up to cater to large sizes, go there instead of destroying things.
AP has said they wont change their sizings/ do a s/m/l. I feel like baby might give size options in years to come, but the others have already said no. the cost of making all those sizings isn't worth it to companies, they're making enough bank catering to asian sizings.

side topic: why are busty lolitas so against binding like it'll save you so much hassle. you'll find you can fit more when you make your bust smaller. and if your bust is such an extreme issue for you health and clothing/fashion... look at surgery. theres options.

>> No.10304935

>>10304931

>use binders all the time which long term can be unhealthy and uncomfortable
>alter your body with surgery to fit clothes instead of altering your clothes
>buy taobao even though you WILL get judged by people and the quality is often objectively lower than a lot of brand

I'm busty but not fat and I find the weird ride or die for brand attitude ridiculous. I prefer to just buy stuff that fits off the rack but people can do whatever the fuck they want with THEIR clothes that they paid for. People acting like anything brand or lolita that other people own is somehow communal property that the community at large gets any say in is taking this fashion too seriously. It's like to some people brand is a religion and if you alter it you're committing blasphemy against the lolita gods. It's just fucking clothes. Cute clothes but just clothes.

Maybe these comments are from people who wish they owned the item being dismantled for altering. Poor alterations make me cringe too but they wasted their own money not mine so why do people find it so offensive or awful?

>> No.10304936

>>10304931
Binding doesn't really change your chest measurement, it just shifts everything around, and while that can help with the fit on some pieces, it's not going to shave off the 5-10cm you need to fit into a too small dress. Because of the way binding makes your boobs pancake out too, you might end up with weird fit issues around the underbust or armpits.

>> No.10304937

>>10304931
This. I'm petite and busty so I find ways to minimize my chest, plus huge boobs really ruin the aesthetic of lolita. It goes from looking elegant and aristocratic to bar wench really fast when your tits exceed your petti poof.

>> No.10304939

>>10304937

I am also petite and busty and while I don't overly accentuate my chest thete is a point at which you can't help your body without surgery which is extreme for something purely cosmetic (breast reductions are somehat higher risk procedures).

I just stick with stuff that has shirring. The assumption though that large chests make things less elegant or more sexualized is a problem in society as a whole I feel. We shouldn't get stereotyped or judged based on natural parts of our bodies we can't help and being busty doesn't make someone unable to be classy or elegant or cute.

>> No.10304943

>>10304939
Fair point. I suppose I mean the types of people who make no effort to match the type of bra or shapewear with their outfit and look sloppy. Different cuts of dresses can benefit from how your boobs are being distributed underneath.

>> No.10304948

>>10304931
I don't understand why you'd want to wear a fashion targeted to asians. How do you see a nonslimming style on asian models, and think "Ill look right in this" when you're plus sized and/or tall? Also, it's never just the breasts that keep people from fitting. You can have a large cup size and still fit if your band size isn't huge.

>> No.10304951

>>10304931

>> No.10304958

>>10304931
Eh I don't care what people do with dresses they own. Trying to sell them for more later doesn't even offend me - it's a free market, if someone wants to pay that much they will and if they don't then that person will have to lower their price to get it to sell, simple.

>> No.10304995

>>10304931
I’m not even busy, but my weird proportions and wide rib cage makes my B cups look awkward in anything that isn’t generously shirred. I wear a minimizer bra but it only helps so much.

I got halfway through this, zoned out, and thought I was reading pasta.

I agree that alterations decrease value in a hobby where a lot of people are somewhat "collectors" in addition to wearing the dresses. But not to 0!

Also you seem new, Baby did sizes in the past and fatties wouldn't pay for new brand. IW does sizes and is super unpopular, there are only 3 stores as opposed to over a dozen Baby and AP stores, and it doesn't hold its value worth a shit compared to other brands.

I agree that we should not encourage alterations since it looks bad usually, and that fat lolitas should stick to custom sized brands who know how to make giant dresses with the right amount of fabric and good cuts for larger people

>> No.10305005

>>10304931
People who recommend binders or sports bras must be slow. Boobs aren’t magical, they’re not made of sponge and they can’t shrink or compress, you can just move the mass around. Both of those items just flatten them which make your bust squish below the bust darts into the waist area or into the armpits. Neither are flattering. The best choice is a bra that lifts them up and doesn’t do so with padding but with structure and support, such as a long line bra

>> No.10305014

>>10305004

Indie and taobao that do custom sizes usually just take the cuts they make for skinny girls and enlarge them; I rarely see them redesign stuff especially for large busted or overweight people. It'll look bad either way if you're fat. Being busty doesn't make wearing brand impossible. It just limits what items you can fit.

Again, I really don't see why "we" should discourage alterations when these dresses are people's personal property, not something anyone else should have a say in. If it ends up looking bad then they get posted in the ita thread/just look bad. It only hurts them not you.

I really just feel like people are against alterations in general because of a weird holy attitude towards brand and because they are hoping no one alters stuff because they personally want to be able to fit into anything they want that comes up for sale so they insert themselves into people's personal choices of what to do with their own brand that they purchased.

It's all weird entitlement.

Exactly. Whether you make it bigger or smaller as well it's your own item and you owe nothing to people of another size in the lolita community.

And if you do eventually want to give the item up it becomes niche and has higher value for really large or really small people who want to be able to have something that fits them well too and allows them to feel comfortable in the fashion as well.

Any offbrand that actually does the work of stitching the sole to the faux leather rather than just using adhesive/glue like Bodyline will often last me far longer with daily wear. Is it that many threads that people are complaining? I don't think anyone has supported any awful alterations like that poor mutilated BABY dress and people are pretty reasonable in their discussion of it. There's just a handful of folks today in particular who disagree with decisions on alterations (with the ones against them seeming to be more aggressive overall)

As someone who lost weight and still has too big of a bust to fit a lot of older or classic brands, I just stick with stuff that I know fits off the hanger because altering someone else's work is harder for me than just making a whole dress myself. It limits my wardrobe but makes my life easier.

But if people want to do it (especially altering to make things smaller now that many brands are trending upwards in sizing, especially AP) that's on them to deal with the work, judgement, or effect on the resale value of the item. Or the anger of seething smaller/larger people who could have fit it at the original size.

To be fair to them they were probably referring to busty people who are not fat but still have large chests, meaning they'd have to be legitimately sick or anorexic to lose enough weight to get rid lf their breasts outside of surgery. Basically, if someone doesn't have any lacemarket feedback or dislikes selling there because it's "too much of a hassle" they're probably a shitty seller. Avoid them.

To some extent but weight gain usually affects band size (which still contributes to overall volume somewhat) more than cup size. If you're not overweight and you have a large cup size with small or normal band size losing weight won't change much. I lost weight for lolita and still have bust measurements and size that don't fit some brand. And at times it isn't just the volume but the actual cup size the pattern is drafted for so even if you technically fit within the measurements the cut can end up unflattering without making adjustments.

I don't want my wardrobe to stop gaining that just because I die lol. And the thought that someone else gets to enjoy something that I loved dearly even after my life is over makes me very happy. Ideally I would like to give it to young people and newbies, but I don't want children and I don't trust the future lolita comm in terms of still wearing it regularly, so I'm a bit torn.

Explain where the faker got the upper part of her profile pic from if only the lower part is visible in her profile. And if the Lacemarket screenshots are that easy to come up with and fake, do the same with any other user from scratch, in microsoft word like you said, without using the screenshots you claim to be fake as reference. Make the original large profile pic so small that it fits without any distortion and fitting with the picture resolution, use the exact font, position the edit options in the feedback in a way they are symmetrical without error, while also using the fitting font and color, design the fake buttons and boxes like they fit into the website and again do it completely symmetrical and don't forget the select reason box. Yeah I’ll be leaving them negative feedback. I’m just confused/surprised that the mod wanted to “pretend this never happened”.

Right? 2 or even 3 I could understand if you asked multiple SS for backup, but not 20

What do you think about this Imperial Garden Event that will happen in Belgium?
I'm skeptical because they're selling their tickets since this summer, for an event that will happen in may 2020.
Who's going?

Ok but real talk, once I ended up with 5 of the same usa lottery item because I asked my bf, SS, and a few of my friends to help me get it and I’m terrified to sell because of scalping accusations so now I just have four untouched usa’s in my closet taking up space.

Which usa? I might be interested in buying. You could also get your friends who entered to help sell for you and give them a cut.

Please tell which kumya. I'm interested

Would there be any interest in having a thread where I dump specific print coordinates? Like an entire thread of just Misty Sky outfits, a thread of (insert print name), that people can also contribute to, things like that. So if people search the print name on warosu or other archival sites, the thread will pop up for coordinate inspiration.

>or I can just keep them to myself I guess

I'd be more interested in seeing threads for coording solids or allover prints that are gobelins or florals (Misty Sky is kinda in there for me as well since clouds are more simple and you can't derive much obvious besides stars or fluff)

It's easy for me to pair acessories and stuff when I have a print to work from since so many prints are crammed with tiny details you can mix and match aspects of. But coording solids beyond basic white or black blouse and socks and neutral or matching shoes and headpiece gets old easily so it would be cool to see how people mix things up.

I’d also want one. Tell us please

I just have large collections of specific prints that are my favorites, so that's why I ask

Guess I'll just hold off then

I see people do this but with collages of outfits per print with a "Who wore it best?" theme. That way you have multiple prints per thread, and it encourages discussion. Though eventually it devolves into low-effort posts like "1, 3, 7, 4"

that's exactly why I backspaced the idea of having one thread with multiple links to curated folders, I figured it'd turn into "which is the best" instead of appreciating all the different ways you can wear something.

>Imperial Garden Event
I'm desperate to go to any European lolita event, but I need to weight all the pro's and con's.

Like, do I need a visa, how expensive the city is, what is the dresscode etc. Is there a list or a group with lolita events calendar?

The guests also still haven’t confirmed that they are coming on social media, which makes me sceptical.

I really like this idea!! I'm always looking up prints I own to see if I can find coord inspo, and it would be so cool to have one place to put them all.

When the Honey Cake rerelease was announced, there was a thread just for HC coord appreciation. Maybe a print appreciation on the anniversary of a print's release would be cute? That way you don't have several different print appreciation threads at the same time.
