Yeah AX is 100% over for this year. The reason they haven't made the announcement yet is cause they're trying to figure out what will be the best way to handle it. This is MILLIONS of dollars of profit they're about to lose. They'll gain it all back of course, but you know, greed and all that.

Refunds? No refunds but yes on rollovers? No rollovers but offer a discount for 2021 if you bought one this year? If you don't ask for a refund this year, you'll be honored a free ticket for a concert of your choice in 2021? Ect...

Maybe you guys should tweet at the city of LA or that awfully melodramatic mayor of yours and let them know AX is still fully set for July 4th weekend and they haven't made any public announcements to cancel or push back the event in the face of increasing local, state and federal lockdown orders.
I mean, shit like SXSW was only cancelled because the city of Austin had to step in.

I don't even care if this bankrupts them or they get sued for not providing refunds, they've been skirting the fire marshal for at least 5 years now by massively under-reporting attendance so they won't have to cap sales, they're well over 100,000 attendees at this point.

The reason AX is still going on is because the SPJA just got paid a huge bonus payout from the Federal Government. AX will be used as a secret testing ground for coronavirus weapons and you, the attendee, will be the test subject. I suggest you don't go and cancel your admission and hotel while you still can. A second round of these secret weapons test will also occur at the San Diego Comic Con. That is the reason why CCI is still going on as scheduled. Please do not go if you value your life. Even if they don't cancel it and every inch of the LACC is sterilized and cleared out, the fact that the venue is being used as a corona virus hospital is gonna leave a huge stigma.

No matter how well the LACC is cleaned and no matter how much the SPJA or anyone else assures anyone otherwise, alot of people are gonna be scared to go and risk catching it. whether it'd be from the convention center itself of from other attendees.

So yeah, if the con isn't dead it's at the very least greatly crippled.

If LA county does shut them down they avoid a ton of fees from cancelling things on their own, and I believe they can file an insurance claim.

If things get cancelled, and let's be honest with ourselves at this point, it probably will be, I have no doubt they'll either offer refunds, or offer to let your ticket roll over to next year. There's no way they could legally say no refunds over this thing

It's what happens when you don't take action to keep the homeless on their toes. We, in California, allow them to be homeless without hindrance. We give them food, money, health care, shelter, and for those without shelter our weather is nice enough so they can be outside without freezing for most of the year.

Now I'll speak about San Francisco because that's where I'm at. In San Francisco we have drug dealers in very obvious places for two reasons: we don't want to criminalize drugs so all the money we give the homeless goes to their habits, and because we want to keep the dealers and homeless in a certain part of the city. That part of the city is the sacrifice for the rest of the city to be free. In San Francisco the homeless are also immune to the law. Citations and fines? Hah. Jail? Yeah, right. They'll be released in a day, if not hours. Those are deterrants for normal people. Not the homeless.

Meanwhile millions of dollars goes to "the homeless problem" without ever solving it. There's no reason for the homeless to fix themselves because we enable it.

>Friend can hear him over the drive through speaker approaching cars asking for food
>Even when the people agree he still goes to another car, asking for more stuff
>Basically trying to piece together a meal by begging every car in line for a sandwich, a drink, or fries individually

>If they call the cops on him for loitering/littering the police pick him up, and drive him maybe 10 minutes away before letting him out, and he just makes his way back to the mcdonalds
The overwhelming majority of homeless people I've interacted with have been bad people. They only want money so they can buy booze or drugs, and absolute retards defend them on it
>bro why do you care? If you were gonna give them a sandwich, why not just give them money to get high?
Before she finally wised up, my grandma would feel bad and get a $5 gift card to some food place, or offer to get some homeless people food, and these absolute selfish pieces of shit would try asking her for the cash directly instead, saying they don't like whatever food place she was offering

Not all homeless are drugged up tent dwellers living in the streets of DTLA looking to get another hit, those are just the ones you see. Lot of homeless are also people that were wiped out by debts and the nightmare costs of living in California. You won't see them because they're living inside their cars or in empty university lecture rooms at night.

Not defending the addicts with obvious mental illness, just saying that framing them all like that is misrepresenting the issue and diverts attention away from the true problem which is living paycheck to paycheck in this hellhole state that will chew and spit you out if the slightest thing goes wrong in your life.

AX will just turn into an over-sized local con.

My guess is that all the big vendors and exhibitors will pull out and about 70 percent of the smaller ones will still show up. I say only 70 percent cause I believe 30 percent of the vendors will either be too scared to show up or straight up bankrupt, probably more of the latter.

The artist alley will either be for the most part fully occupied or pretty empty. the way I see it either the artists will all be there desperately trying to sell whatever they can to make up for lost income or they'll be at home cause they won't have the money to make all the prints and charms and whatnot.

All the guests will be "social media influencers", anime youtubers, and D list cosplayers and what not. People along the lines of Akidearest and Gigguck. heck if they truly get desperate they might fly digibro in too.

Also forget about industry panels or premiers. they are all gonna pull out or straight up never materialize. It's gonna be just fan panels and AMV competitions. As far as concerts and event's it's just gonna be neon district. If they did rent out the staples center it would be held there and they would give away free tickets to fill it up.

Attendance would also fall dramatically. I'd say no more than 40 thousand at the absolute most. People will be too broke and or too focused getting their shit back together to attend. Unless the SPJA are absolutely terrible with money AX won't die tho but in the long run attendance will be down for the next 2-3 years as well.

On the bright side, the lines would be pretty short.

Honestly, the people who are small vendors and those from foreign countries are probably not showing. Some small artists can't even pay rent and most small commission artists that have second jobs are filing for unemployment. The embassies from most countries are saying that travelers might not even be able to come back if they come to the US (for now not sure about in July). Currently most centers and hotels in CA are being used as homeless shelters and hospitals; meaning that CA would have to get coronavirus almost completely down in a crowded city, empty out the shelters, and clean everything out within two-three months. Can it be done, yes, would it be likely... no. Schools are cancelled for the whole year and people are struggling to make ends meet.

I would just say if you live with children or those over 60, wait until you are sure about how CA is doing with their cases to make a decision. For me, they are going to have to do something that proves that they will work hard to preserve the health of their guests or cancel. I'm not sure which yet.

If they don't cancel soon/now I can't wait for the Fyre Festival memes to come flooding in.

I meant it like that, but also yes. If I'm being honest, with their shit management last year I wouldn't be surprised if this is like the anime con version of Fyre or Tanacon. Anime Expo, due to being a fandom/anime convention means that guests, industry, fashion, and attractions are all time/situation sensitive. They have hundreds of sponsors and 3rd parties that would sue the shit out of them tbf and millions of dollars are waged on this.
Not to mention even the guests probably can't afford to go anymore, especially smaller/medium content creators and artists. Those who are guests from outside the country need approval from the embassy to even leave, and large businesses are not going to risk their own employees to go to a convention. Industry is often a bunch of older dudes/boomers and I don't think good content creators and artists of the older generation are going to risk their necks to fly, drive, or even attend a convention, especially of this magnitude. As much as I love AX, they have to dip quickly before people start flaming them. They are possibly waiting until literally the days after cancellations are available to revoke the con, or are waiting for the local gov to pull a GameStop and shut it down. I think the latter will happen, but I'm not opposed by the former. I don't think this is the end of AX or that every single person at AX "deserves this" or some edgy shit. (Kinda disheartening that some people in the thread think that). I think that AX is currently on fire tho and its partly their fault mostly bad luck.
