Humble Bundle is doing a cosplay book sale for anyone interested: https://www.humblebundle.com/books/cosplay-like-pro-books

This is great, thank you!

>> No.10402734

cheers

Anyone have these books or patterns? Are they worth it?

>> No.10403862

>>10403860
The Kamui, Foamsmith and Kinpatsu books are really worth it. The rest I haven't looked much into yet.

>> No.10403990

>>10402707
Fug, I just made a big purchase today but the deal looks absolutely insane. What's the best tier to go up to do you guys think?

>> No.10404016

>>10402707
I’m definitely interested but I’m not sure which tier would suit my needs. There’s something good in all of them. With the whole situation right now and just coming off of a heavy semester, my creativity is nuked right now but this seems like a good deal. I’m not sure what I would actually use and what’s easily accessible online.

What tiers are you all getting?

>> No.10404017

>>10403990
Anything under $15 looks good for absolute beginners. I wish there was a little peek inside of the peeks to figure out whether I would want it or not

>> No.10404040

>two things in 18 and one thing in tier 20 that I want
Fuck

>> No.10404074

>>10403862
DA, but can you elaborate? What makes them worth it?

>> No.10404090

This is off-topic (sorry!) but I thought I should mention that they have a great manga bundle right now as well: https://www.humblebundle.com/books/award-winning-manga-by-kodansha-books

>>10404090
Neat, thanks

God, same. I'm intermediate-ish in sewing and a complete foam noob so idk how much utility I'd get from the sewing books.

>> No.10404195

>>10404168
I'm thinking of looking at the individual creator's website to see if I can atleast take a look at a table of contents or something. What tier is speaking to you right now? I'm thinking $15 but at that point, might as well go for the $20

>> No.10404509

>>10404195
I really want that serger book in $20, as serging for me is a total bitch and it has awesome reviews on Amazon (it's also $27 for the ebook edition, so it's worth it just for that). The other items in that tier are really meh though (except for *maybe* the wig book). The $15 tiers' Singer sewing book is actually pretty nice, I thumbed through it in a Barnes N Nobles a while back and liked it as a reference. There's a lot of junk filler in the bundle, though. Additionally, a lot of the volumes are like $3 on Amazon.

I think I'll drop the full $20 on it. I'm a guy and I make most of my patterns since guy patterns are very limited or oversized, and the tailoring/pattern fitting books look really useful (as well as the serging one)

>> No.10404574

Where can I get the entire bundle for free?

>> No.10404579

Alright lads, I just bought the full bundle. If you want to know table of contents or a brief review, ask away.

>> No.10404604

>>10404509
I agree that there's a lot of junk in the bundle, but with how good the other books are for the price I suppose it's understandable. I just posted about it, but I ended up buying the $20 too. I'll eventually get to the level where the other books become useful and there's plenty for me to read at my current skill level.

>> No.10404621

I bought the $20 tier for the serger book and if anything else is useful I’ll consider it bonus.

How good is the Bondo book in the 20 tier?

>> No.10404739

>>10404621
What’s good about the serger book?

>> No.10405150

>>10404691
A page each is dedicated to an intro to bondo, how body filler works, materials, tools, and safety gear. The other 15 pages or so are spent discussing techniques for mixing, applying, shaping, cleaning, and sanding bondo as well as the stages of body filler and cleaning your tools. There's a tip on each page as well. As someone who knows nothing about Bondo, this seems very informative and helpful. The book is 22 pages total.

>>10404739
The book is 131 pages total. There is a chapter going over the capabilities, anatomy, and tools for a serger. More chapters on types of thread, how to work with them, types of stitches, balancing thread tension, preparation, stitching techniques, construction techniques, decorative serging, specialty fabric, and quick tips/fixes. It seems very thorough. Again, I have no prior knowledge of serging except for its basic use so this is like the exact type of book I would gravitate towards to learn about it.

Ah ok, I use a server already so might not be as useful for me, thank you for the detailed answer, I appreciate it!

>> No.10405373

>>10405367
Of course. I hope you find a book that suits your needs.

>> No.10405441

>>10405150
Thanks, that sounds good, I guess i'll pick it up at some point then.

>tfw the only books that would be useful to me are in the $20 tier but I already own some of the books from that tier

>> No.10405819

>>10405450
Oof. I guess compare the prices of buying the books you need individually?

>> No.10405869

>>10404739
The other person who replied gave a more informative and helpful answer but the reason I want the serger book is because I have a serger but so far have been too intimidated to actually use it and now I don’t have an excuse not to learn.

>> No.10405882

>>10405450
I had half of these from the previous bundle and some others I bought on my own full price, but I still got the highest tier because the price is good and to support the creators.

>> No.10405892

>>10404074
They have a lot of useful information neatly put together with example pictures. Some of it is already on their videos, but this is much easier to navigate and find exactly what you need. And there's other stuff that isn't included in any of their videos (at least not with that level of detail).

>> No.10409042

how long is this going for?

>> No.10409044

>>10409042
Enough time for you to click through and view the big fuckin' countdown timer

I don't want to sound like a dick but it's literally as easy as following that link. Or, do some rudimentary math to figure out if that image was taken 10 days ago and it says 20 days left, what the remaining amount is

>> No.10409053

>>10409044
lmao but i enjoyed your reply anon, i would have said something similar. takes them the same amount to check the website than it is to type a reply and press post
