Well for the general population, it's good. The majority of us would be able to attend a con with a vaccination. For immunocompromised people who will be affected without herd immunity, it's bad. Last year was so fucking bad. There was a panel that showed two different start times between the program/app schedule. We ask the AX staff sitting in the room. They say they don’t know. People start showing up and getting in line. A few of the panelists show up. Nobody fucking knows what time it started. We get three different answers from three people wearing AX vests. It takes 10 minutes from the start time for somebody who is a scheduling supervisor to show up, huddle with some staffers, and then determine that the start time is the later one. The panelists that are there complain that it doesn’t leave them with enough time for the panel. Who knows where the fuck the rest of the panelists were. The staff leads people downstairs to wait until the start time, we decide to skip it and go to a different one.

That panel has the start time all fucked up because of AX scheduling and got parts of it cut for time.

They also had a bunch of the titles wrong, too, but I’ve at least seen that before.

Not that anon but a majority of their costs come from renting the CC and its surrounding areas and renting equipment. The former has been partially covered by insurance (and a likely future contract renegotiation since the place has been hemorrhaging money with everything that has been going on) and the latter didn't need to be paid at all. Staff constitutes so little since most of them are unpaid volunteers with the big wigs being the only people really making a sizable amount of money.
