Yeah, I remember when they got cancelled last year, he was on twitch saying he was going to have to get an actual job. About a week later it was suddenly ‘we’re putting everything into twitch and YouTube to make this happen!’ then he stepped down from being affiliate with twitch and then quit altogether after admitting 30min into a 3h stream that he doesn’t even want to stream games. If he can’t force himself to play a game he chose then what’s his chances of actually getting anywhere as an ‘influencer’?

To top it off they started that “forgotten footage series” then quit before that had to show how Liverpool really went, and started focusing on tiktok style mashes of cosplay photos they’re ripping from people’s profiles.

There was even drama on Twitter because they reposted someone’s video a few weeks back. Same person who stood up for people about the refunds last year.

I doubt you can say anyone's winning during the middle of a pandemic - the only difference is who loses the most.

If the government roadmap goes ahead as planned, those who were going to run this year lose more. If it doesn't and another variant hits causing all of 2021 to be cancelled, then the likes of AL, MCM, Showmasters and Wales Comic Con lose more.

No one wins in this situation.

Smaller evens it all depends on how they run, i know some have overheads that cost them all the time, other events have very little in the form of cash owed and should be fine.

I think the local events are the ones that will be hit hardest, the profit driven ones that are a side hustle/business venture. Sure some of the fan events may struggle, but my guess it will depend on how far they got into running as to if they have to fold. I’m pretty sure i heard old school fan events were started with a whip around to get them off the ground, if that it true, then surely any that struggles may return that way.

Just figured out I can go on Booking.com book one of the really posh hotels for MCM for really cheap and not pay until the day before. Don't even have to pay a deposit. If Boris fucks us about I can just cancel. If not, i'm paying £300-£500 for 4 nights depending on where we go. Last I remember Novotel and that Boat hotel was about 600 to a grand at around the same time in 2019.

Hey does anyone know how ordering cosplay from other countries will be affected by Brexit? I know that American sellers will rarely sell anything to us now.

I want to cosplay Yuki Cross from Vampire Knight, but all the websites I come across online are either far too risky or I worry that they won't sell to me. Every single person I've talked to at MCM says the same thing. You go with friends and people might talk with you.
