I agree, and if you really compare the Moitie execution and the Miku design they didn't even translate it into real life properly. The skirt isn't nearly as full as it is in the design so it just looks sad, and the top part looks more like one of those neck-clasped boleros/shrugs that's just sleeves over a corset top than the weirdly pulling bodice Moitie did.

The poor interpretation is why it looks like a cheap cosplay. Makes me wonder whether the designers came up with the outfit concepts first or the character artists did.

Swastika in every orientation possible is a religious and occult symbol among people native tn every continent except maybe Australia (I'm not avare of usage of swastika by indigenous population of that continent). I'm from eastern Europe and we still paint swastikas on our Easter eggs.

Disagree. I think it's a great way to have something busy be calmed down without removing stuff. The colours are still clearly differentiated imho, and you can see the big picture from a distance. You can't see it on the stock pictures that well but this ita on the ita thread showed us their "haori"s aren't even having proper sleeves. They're completely open at the end. Looking at the stock photo's they also seem closed at the beginning. The way the stock photos are made I expect this is hidden on purpose as they are all made in a way you can't see the inner sleeve and it's nearly impossible to see the beginning on that darkest version, in which case it kinda goes into scammy territory to me. At least the taobao haori, bad quality and often enough tacky as they are, do know what Japanese haori sleeves look like. Open sleeves like this are only for traditional work and sleepwear afaik. It just reminds me of those western "kimono" nightgowns sold in lingerie stores here but at least they make it obvious it's nothing like a real kimono...

Besides haori doesn't have such a closure but she could have taken inspiration for that from dochugi I guess. Those are wrongly called haori all the time anyways. Silk similarly is considered high end yet has a soft shine. Beside by making the dress look crap, they also just associate crap with Africa so it's not great for representation either. The same release also has a 4400 yen tote bag that looks like the fabric shopping bags you can buy for a few dollar max at the supermarket but with a Moitie print, that they were too lazy to iron in the first photo, and where you can see some printing mistake causing white fabric near some seams on the outside on the second (see red circle, that's definitely not part of a flower or so. Doesn't line up to be). It also looks like the dye couldn't cover the white completely, because on the worn photo there is a light hue and lack of saturation making the dark grey with pale blue instead of black with "Moitie" bright blue, and despite being huge and baggy causing it to always show the inside, has a fully white inside as well because who cares for aesthetics as long as that cheap white fabric has a Moitie print pressed on it?

I mean, I wouldn't be mad at a tote bag normally because they aren't mean to be the fanciest things ever, but 4400 yen for a misprinted not fully saturated tote bag is just sad. AP and BTSSB tote-backs look much more sturdy, nicer shaped, and are properly black. How sad is it when a sweet brand like AP can make blacker black bags than a gothic brand like Moitie?
