I actually like the way her wig is styled this time, imo the canon curl looks really dumb but whatever that's just me. The bottom of her dress is really bad looking but that gun looks flawless.

The Caledscratch being the most popular, if a bit difficult. There's also the Scarlet Ribbitar which I have never seen, and then the two other swords that referenced SBaHJ and Snoop Dogg respectively, I think. Finally there's the SORD.

To fully complete the outfit though, one of those swords + the iShades would be nice, right? But the most important is just having a good weapon?

Do dolls count as good props, so Striders with Lil Cals, Terezi with scalemates, etc?

I even saw a pretty neat idea with Ectobiologist Suit John and a bunch of dolls of the kids as babies crawling around him, although the execution wasn't the best since they didn't look that great, but props for the idea.

I suppose the idea is that it's not simply enough to just slap on the topatoco shirt and any pair of aviators, and because that's so easy (unless you're just going to a casual meet or something) for a Dave cosplayer to really stand out they'd need to try their hand at the accessories, swords, details, etcetera? Lindzar's Scarlet Ribbitar was pretty nice. It's the only one I've seen though. Dave has so many cool swords and no one ever makes them, I'd love to see more of them.

I'm currently working on a Mituna cosplay for otakon, I'm going to base it off this design and instead of a body suit I'm going with a pullover like yellow piece and a modified pair of black pants and long sleeve shirt, for Otakon. While I'm talking, can someone point me in the direct of yellow boots and cloth that match in color? That would really speed this along.

It's more of a tradition and an apparent icebreaker, I think. I do agree that it's quite unnecessary; I don't retain anybody's names or pronouns (unless it's somebody I took notice of) and I think it gives birth to expectations.. ( "oh, we did a name circle. you should know my pronouns.")

As for the trans stuff, I don't mind because it helps people (usually the younger ones) try to figure out who they are and if they go through some phases or if they're sure of their gender identity, I don't want to judge.

Yes, 99.99% of human beings are born with the matching sex and gender. AKA if you're born a female body, you're a girl. HOWEVER, Actual transexuals exist but they're very rare because it is a birth defect, and a defect is not the norm.

You can't have a fluid gender, what the fuck does that even mean. You can present as however masculine or feminine you want, but your 'gender' doesn't change. That's not exactly it. What you're probably thinking about it something called 'intersex' which is another legitimate matter entirely so I'd rather not confuse you.

Transexuality is being born with the hormones and body of one sex, but having your brain wired as the opposite sex. It's easiest to describe as a birth defect. Usually in human beings, the 'brain sex' matches up with the body, aka being 'cis'. But sometimes something goes wrong in the fetal development, and the body develops as male instead of female even though the brain is female. This is transexualism. When this happens, there is a disconnect between the body and brain, and the body tells the brain 'hey, I'm missing parts! There's something wrong with me!' and that is dysphoria.

Unfortunately, you cannot physically tell a transtrender from an actual transexual, because you'd need to measure the amount of white matter in the brain to see that. So it's easy to just CALL yourself trans without being trans, and that's why this is such an issue because it's so easy to just fake.

The way to tell trenders from actual trans people is basically just how they act usually. Real trans people are very stealth about being trans, because it's something that brings them great pain and they just want to be 'regular' men and women. Trenders don't experience pain so they make it an identity and scream about it and flaunt it and want attention for it. Also if they don't want surgery they're probably not trans.

Intersex is hard to explain and I don't know as much about it to be honest. It's basically having any other sort of physical problem with the genitals. So let's say that you're a female but with a very large clitoris, or a female born without a vaginal opening, or a female born with both a penis and a vagina. Or a male who is born with a penis, but also born with breasts. It's generally even more rare than being born transexual. It's similar to being transexual though because it has to do with the body not matching with the brain. But usually with transexualism, the body itself will develop perfectly normal as female but the brain is male. With intersex, the brain is male but the body itself is not a normal male body. Does that make sense?

And yeah, I don't know what it is about the homestuck fandom that has so many fakers. I think it's mostly just tumblr, and since homestuck is largely a tumblr-based fandom, that's why. It's really sad to see this crap spread to my other fandoms though.

An interesting question, but ultimately only a thought exercise. The idea of "gender norms" is related to our inborn, evolved, psychological and physical tendencies which are in large part biologically determined. Brute strength is the common physical example; as a man (not even a particularly large one), it is unlikely that any woman reading this could beat me in a contest of simple physical power. Nothing personal, it's just nature.

On the psychological side, look at how we deal with children. Even given the choice to do otherwise, women nearly monopolize any profession having to do with children. This stems from an evolutionary history in which women needed to retain a strong interest in both her children and those of close relatives.

I would advise you to look into evolutionary psychology and human/primate evolution in general. All this blather about social constructs fades quickly in importance once you gain even a cursory understanding of the vast evolutionary history that led to, and in large part defines us.

Trans people have always existed most likely. My friend always says that a good way to tell someone is trans is to ask them 'would you still hate your body and feel 'wrong' if you were on a deserted island where there were no social norms?'. And gender roles ARE natural though to an extent. Females are naturally more caretakers and males are generally more aggressive. It has to do with hormones. BUT, this doesn't mean you can't be an aggressive male or a soft male. Bad gender roles are when people tell you that you have to act a certain way because of your sex, and then look down on you if you don't.

I remember a study where a parent raised their little girl giving her both 'male' and 'female' toys and letting her play how she liked. She played with both trucks and barbies. And you know what she did? She tucked the toy trucks to bed and substituted them for baby dolls, because it's natural female development to learn how to care at a young age. It's how we as humans work, because the sexes are different and that's what aided to our survival as a species. People forget that we're animals. That doesn't mean that your sex should limit your personality and interests though. That would be dumb. That's the bad sort of roles.

Sometimes it can take a while to realize that the reason you feel so horrible and disgusting is because you're trans though. But this is an individual process, not something that everyone should go through and question.

Telling cis girls that they can 'question gender' implies that gender is a thing that you can change and that it's normally a legitimate thing to question. Transexuality is a rare birth defect. You don't get teenage girls questioning if they have muscular dystrophy do you? No. It's a birth condition like anything else and it's incredibly rare and the average person will never question their 'gender identity'. You are perpetuating the idea that being trans is a choice, and by association you are allowing trenders to hurt trans people by giving the trans community a bad name when the average joe already thinks we're perverted freaks. Now the average joe is going to think it's a choice to be a 'freak'. If it was seen as a birth condition like it should be, it would be more accepted. If you tell the normal majority that you should question being normal, no shit you're going to get a lot of normal people thinking they're actually defects just because they don't fit a certain standard of masculinity/femininity etc and confuse that with actually being trans. I'm not really sure what you're asking. Pretty much anyone in any country is going to be ripped apart for coming out as trans. It's a very misunderstood thing. And that can be hard and painful because it means that your family and friends might disown you. But, if you're trans, that sadness doesn't make your dysphoria go away. You'll always be transexual because dysphoria isn't something you can just give up on and say 'eh, it isn't worth it to seek surgery+hormones'.

I don't know anything about anxiety, I pretty much only know about transexualism and the likes. I would assume that it's a legitimate thing, but is also fairly rare. Just as a rule as thumb, illnesses and defects are such for a reason: because they're not the norm. When so many people claim to be suffering from something, it makes me think 'yeah... bullshit'. I think that if you had social anxiety you would know. My guess is that if you're not sure, you probably don't have it. But questioning to yourself isn't wrong, actual self diagnosis is. Go see a doctor if you think you actually have a problem, maybe they can help you even if you don't.

I know people who realized they were trans when they were 25 etc. Sometimes it does take a long time to realize it. It varies from person to person, it's not an exact science. I guess it's similar to not realizing that you're gay until you're older. I don't think age should be an issue in deciding if someone is legitimate. Some people know when they're 3, some people when they're 30. It's a different process for different people. Sometimes it takes a couple of years to really put a finger on 'oh, that's what these feelings were my whole life'. We aren't really taught what transexuality actually is in school or anything so I think sometimes people might not realize it. But the realization usually takes a while, as opposed to someone just looking it up one night and saying LOL YES THAT'S ME in a couple of hours. I mean it's not a quizilla quiz, the realization impacts your whole life so yeah, people usually take a couple years to research it if they realize it later in life.

Usually people know when they're fairly young though. Usually 10-22 is when people know, since that's when puberty happens etc and your body goes through the most sexual changes. But it varies.

It's not awkward or cute or funny, it means I can't get into a car or plane without nausea and horrible bouts of derealization and lying awake at night consumed with a terror of death and just...life. It's a bit of a spectrum though--like, I have really awful trouble with GAD and panic disorder but my OCD isn't as intense as others and I don't REALLY have social anxiety disorder. Talk to a doctor. Hey guys, help with local homestuck group? our facebook group and etc are administrated by the people who were active from the start, because they are the people that stepped up from the start and have always been active. because of this we've also developed a friendship group which is about 1/3 admins and has all of the admins in it. however, some people have been feeling that the admin group is an elitist group of friends with their own little in crowd because of this, even though we're just friends who happen to admin. there are about 7 mods. how do you think we can make it feel like there isn't an exclusive club? if we get some mods to stand down and then put some more mods in that aren't from the friendship group, would doing that vote via facebook be a horrible way to do it?
