I also have very easily breakable nails, and I despaired of ever having a nice manicure last beyond a few days until I discovered gel nails. They are miraculous - they're coated with a polymer topcoat that makes them extremely durable, so the risk of chipping, peeling, breakage, etc. is drastically lowered. I've grown nails out to around 5 centimeters past their usual length with those on. Give it a try if they have them where you live.

I don't know that my nails are brittle as I bite them too much to really let them get to any length, but the top layers of them used to peel off and they were all dimpled and gross. I found the skin, hair and nail supplements I took really helpful in fixing that.

I talked to my nutritionist about biotin supplements and if they actually do anything, and she told me that the only way you'd see a significant difference is if you were deficient in biotin to begin with. She gave me a weird look when I told her I was taking them. So basically if you're already getting enough of that, then that isn't the reason your nails are brittle and it won't help. I don't have brittle nails, but I do have coarse hair so I took 5000mcg of biotin for a few months. No significant difference in neither my hair nor nails tbqh.

If it's serious brittleness then it's more likely you could be iron deficient or have a thyroid problem. In which case it's wise to bring up your nails to your doctor.
But what I do for my nails to make them last longer and not break as much is get a UV gel polish at my local nail salon. It only costs me about $30~ each time, and it lasts for a month. The gel is a lot sturdier than regular polish (you don't have to wait for it to dry) and it's less of a hassle than getting fakes put on.

Pic is my nails. I had surgery a few days ago, I just don't have any ideas to recolor them yet.

A neat thing I learned from my salon is that if you do your design in gel polish it is a lot more forgiving. You do one color, bake, another color, bake, ect. Impress. Comes with enough sizes that if you have average sized nails, you can get two full sets out of one package. They last me about 4 days before any of them begin to come loose. I soak in warm water to pull them off, remove the stickies, and reuse them again with double sided nail stickers. After that, they are usually scuffed or a little bent, so I just toss em. So 4 days of total wear for ~$5, 8 days with stickers, and 16 if you can squeeze out two sets. Worth it for me. Also, the case they come in is cute as hell, pic related.

Pretty much. I had some scrap pieces of net lace, so I cut out the shape as close as I could. I did a single coat of the same color as the other nails first, let dry, then put on a clear coat and immediately put on the lace. I trimmed any edges that I needed to of the lace, then dabbed the clear coat to tack things down completely.

Apply hand lotion or even vaseline to your skin, try to avoid your nails. That way the acetone doesn't seep into your skin. Do you have very sensitive skin? I have very brittle nails that I go out of my way to take care of, and I never noticed a difference in the health of my nails when I used non-acetone remover. It can be a little drying on your skin, but with hand lotion or cuticle cream, I've never had a problem with it.

Is it just me, or does OPI polish chip much faster than other brands? I can use the same base and top coats, but OPI always chips and flakes much sooner. I'm also not too fond of the brushes, I just can't get an even coat and I always get polish on the surrounding skin with them, which never happens with other brushes. Oddly enough, the best brush IMO is from Rimmel's 60 second polishes, they're flat like OPI's too, but the end is rounded instead of being cut straight across.
