People's skin wouldn't be so shitty if they gave their pores a chance to fucking breathe and follow the obvious rules of skin care: aka wash that shit off before going to bed and don't fucking touch your face all the time.

Regardless though all these self help cosplay make up tutorials aren't universal because
A) No one has the same skin tone

So go out or ask for help in person and find your shade. Sometimes you have to mix a lighter shade and a darker shade by adding one drop to the darker or vice versa to get the right blend.

Primer > eyeshadow > do your fucking eyebrows and add some lipgloss

and your fucking set.

I'm going to highly suggest drinking more calorie-free fluids and avoiding sugars and fats.

My mom has a bit of rosacea and cystic acne, so naturally I had a lot of hormone related acne as well. I was prescribed doxycycline twice a day by my dermatologist and Epiduo. I had been on the antibiotic far too long (since September up until the middle of May) and it wasn't having an effect anymore without the help of the Epiduo.

But I recently had a surgery that is requiring me to be on a clear, sugar-free liquid diet post-op. I stopped taking the antibiotics shortly before the surgery. I thought my skin would be a nightmare without it.
But surprisingly I haven't had a single breakout and the only spots on my face are the healing red marks from acne pre-surgery.
My skin definitely isn't an oil slick anymore.
Then again I'm drinking a lot of fluid and I don't eat over 300 calories a day (and don't worry, I'm on a strict medically supervised vitamin/protein regimen for that). But I really think cutting out the sugar and fats this drastically has done something for my skin which would have been unthinkable for me before.

If you got acne the last thing you want to do is fucking put makeup over it, that's only going to irritate it more. People want to blame hormones for acne but that's likely only 50% of the cause, the other 50% is mostly to people drinking heavy, smoking or being involved in sweat shops, i.e. working in a restaurant near grease (like popcorn or fast food)

For acne-scars that's different altogether.

My acne is worse now than when I was going through puberty, the joke is that I'm eating healthier (most of the time,) and I drink a lot more water.

Can't afford a dermatologist, but most of the time I can cover up my acne fairly well when I'm cosplaying (I don't wear make up otherwise.) Shit sucks, but I don't know what to do about it, I've tried most "obvious" solutions, but I think it partially has something to due with my face washing routine that I'm not sure how to fix. I feel like I may be washing too often? (Once a day, but my wash might be harsh... I use biore's pore clogging remover and toner + and some moisturizer) but I feel gross if I don't wash once a day so I might just look into change products.

No, the accutane booklet my dermatologist gave me says that before your doctor will give you accutane, they want you to be on two forms or BC: a primary (the pill, depo, IUD) and a secondary (condoms, spermicide, cervical sponge, abstinence, etc.).

And there's even a form in there that you and your doctor can sign if you choose to be abstinent that says you PROMISE to not have sex while on accutane.

Then you need to substract your underbust measurement from your bust measurement, which will give you your boob size.
But make sure that when you take your bust measurement you are bending your waist at a 45 degree angle.

That's not true and it's clear that you've never experienced true hormonal acne before.
Mine appeared out of the blue 2 years ago and before then I'd always had immaculate skin. I tried everything I could think of, more water, less water, no meat, more vegetables, exclusive fruit diet, more eggs, more fish, omega-3 capsules, vitamin E, vitamin D, Iron, Zinc, Cocao butter moisturizer, Bio Oil, Derma Rollers and yes, even never wearing makeup.

None of it fucking worked. None of it. It didn't matter how much makeup I wore or how little, it made absolutely no difference until I went on a hormonal prescription and within 2 months my face was back to exactly the way it was before.

"Whitening" cream doesn't really make your skin whiter, more like it 'brightens' your skin by evening out your complexion.

Personally I started using the GG instead of makeup and because my scars were so dark, it did look kind of bad at first, but now it looks fine and I seriously can't stand the texture of my Neutrogena liquid makeup anymore. I wash my face and put on a light layer, even when It's just gonna be a couch day.

It adjust to skin tone very well, but depending on how dark your complexion is you might have to mix it with something closer to your skin tone.

When I clean them out and then put foundation on - obviously - it clogs them up again and sort of makes it more obvious that I have super giant pores! I find pore strips to be less effective on them (Also, it seems the glue sticks to my face, so it's not even pulling out off of the dirt. I started to keep it for less time every time, but it seems to bond instantly and it just never works. I'm hoping it's just a faulty box...)

You cant' reduce the size of your pores, once they are already enlarged, you're SOL. Perhaps you could try dermabrasion or laser (in hopes that the newer skin underneath has smaller pores) but just like any other blackhead removal methods, they're considered temporary.

You're going to need something to wash your back, from what I've experienced, whenever I forget to wash off any shampoo or conditioner residue in the shower, I tend to break out. Remember to wash it off.

Pic is http://www.greenlaserclinic.com/LARGE_PORES.html using google reverse image search.

I'm kind of interested in this topic as well. I have pores as large as your pic, but I'm wondering if I should buy a Clairsonic Mia brush to help reduce them.

If you want a tan, use tanning lotion instead of the sun or a tanning bed. If you don't already, use sunblock wherever you have scarring/redness, the sun makes these worse.

Again, it doesn't actually whiten as much as it just lightens everything so your complexion is more even. I can't say for sure either way with a tan, though, because I've never been tan a day in my pasty white life.

its not. Its for making insecure women feel like they are covering up the things that they think will make other women judge us.
Many women are terribly hard on themselves, Makeup adds often suggest that makeup will help you "Get that man!" or "Get those friends" but what they really mean is "Makeup will make you better" and they use getting dates, friends, and other life improvements as visual short hand for the "Better" because they are the social ideals for what we think is a great life.

That's wrong because all those things ultimately related back to getting men, like fashion, good looks, being admired etc. The essence of man is I will, the essence of woman is "he wills", etc.

I have super oily skin to the point where half way through the day I can wipe my forehead with the back of my hand and it will appear wet... I usually keep tissue paper in my bag and just dab those areas.

But I did finally gave up in washing my face twice a day (once in the shower in the morning and once at night before bed) since I no longer work in a resturant. I rotate between using Neutrogena Naturals wash and the skin clearing bar with Cetaphil moisturizer..
Along with a pescatarian diet and lot of water and a multivitamin. Not to mention I change my bed sheets and pillow cases once a week.

I also tried a diy glycolic acid peel a few times and saw a huge change.. Ive been meaning to try it again..

I dont have health insurance and I havent been to a doctor since I was 16 and had shingles. Blegh

DO NOT tell people to take vitamin A for their acne without talking to their doctor. Too much vitamin A can fuck your liver up bad.

>not like BC pill or spironolactone

BC and spiro are both basically hormonal fixes, which doesn't help if your acne is caused by highly overactive sebaceous glands. Spironolactone is an anti androgen, which basically means it blocks testosterone, and the most commonly BC prescribed for acne is the pill because it's Estrogen.

If, like me, your acne is NOT hormonal, it's more than likely because of overactive sebaceous (oil producing) glands in your skin and pores producing more oil than your skin can handle at a time (and I mean "glistening oil slick within a half hour of washing your face just sitting at the computer" in my case), which gets trapped in your pores and festers infections that become the cysts of cystic acne. It's not a topical problem so it can't always be treated effectively with topical creams or 3-step acne treatments, which can usually only help with side effects like redness and flakiness.

Accutane (isotretinoin) really is the only known full stop last resort treatment for cystic acne not caused by hormones that works because it basically uses a controlled overdose of a type of vitamin A related retinoid that dries up your sebaceous glands so they don't overproduce oil. Obviously, this is where the dry mouth/nose/nosebleeds/flaky skin comes from. Unfortunately, because of it being basically a controlled overdose, it can fuck with your liver and cause all kinds of problems, depending on how your body handles it. Some people get horrible side effect,s some get hardly any at all. It all depends on your body and your dosage.Obviously lower doses usually have less symptoms.

Update for anyone that cares: my grandma called the office and managed to speak with my dermatologist this morning at about 9am, and told her to call ME before I went to work at 4:30, and that it was urgent. I said OK, and waited....

I waited until 4:00, nothing. Phone didn't ring once. So I got pissed off and called the office, and asked the operator to connect me to the office supervisor. I then told the supervisor to connect me to my derma, immediately, and she said "oh, she's with a patient right now, leave a message and she'll call you back soon."

Right about there my near infinite patience hit it's very end and the only thing I could say was "BULLSHIT."

The next half hour was spent angrily explaining in a very loud voice to this woman that I AM HER PATIENT, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CONTACT HER FOR NEARLY A MONTH, have left multiple messages with multiple people with MULTIPLE CONTACT NUMBERS for her to reach me, and she has not called me back once. I told her that if this woman did not call me back PERSONALLY within the hour and tell me what the actual fuck she wants from me, that I am going to bitch to the BBB (thanks for the suggestion, anon!) about how unprofessional and careless they were all being.

Literally 3 minutes after got in my car and I left for work, my mom called my cell phone and said my derma had JUST called and left a message on my machine, saying that all she needs now is for me to pass a psych eval and that she was so so so so so so so sorry for not contacting me, etc.

Let's see

I have problematic skin so makeup costs about this much for me on average:

skincare
>(moistureizer, serums, etc)- $15-25 every month (moisturizers last a while)
Makeup:

>Mascara (purchase every 4 months/ usually have 2 at hand) $5-20 a month

creams- $15 to 40 every 4-6 months
powders- $15 to 30~ a month when replaced every 2 years
>eyeliner - $10 to 25 every 2-3 months
>blush/bronzer - same as powder, replaced every 2 years so about $5-20 a month?
>lipstick/gloss/balm: $10 to 20 a month

>Foundation: $150+ a year
>Concealer: $75+ a year

Just gonna plug an acne product I've had a lot of success with.

I have mild acne but it's incredibly stubborn, and my skin type is combination/oily. I've tried a lot of stuff--ranging from pharmacy to drugstores (Differin, Clindacymin, Proactiv, Clean & Clear, Neutrogina--the list is endless), all of which didn't noticeably improve my skin. In one week of trial use this Paula's Choice system did, though. I learned about it through some story about some dude who dramatically improved on his insane cystic acne and i gotta say this shit is amazing. I recommend the trial version to see if it'll work for you--I know about the whole thing about it taking 3 months to see if a product works on your skin but the results were instant for me so I think it's worth a shot if you're looking for a new acne product.

Btw I got the extra strength bc i regularly use acne products with 5% Benoxyl Peroxide and it does dry me out if I'm not careful, but there's a less strong version for those with more sensitive skin.

Mine are quite small, but a couple of them are bright purple and I'm just dreading how shit my legs are gonna look in 10 years if I already have this many veins.
Does anyone know of any at-home treatments or any way to stop more spider veins from coming up or getting bigger? I know I can get laser treatments from a spa or doctor, but they're a bit expensive (more than $200 at a reputable spa iirc. I'm not sure how much they are at a doctor's office).

Also has anyone had any experiences with lipolaser on their face? I have a very round face with chubby cheeks that cover any bone structure I might have. I know it's not a weight loss thing because my dad is a skinny mother trucker and he's still got a big bulldog face. I also had a chubby face when I was very young and basically skeletal.
I also have a lump of fat under my chin that's, surprise surprise, also from my dad. I think it's a combo of a fat deposit and having a short jaw.
Can that be removed/reduced with lipolaser? Is lipolaser only for your body or can it be used for your face, too? Am I better to try to get surgery than laser treatments for this?

I just hate my chubby fucking face and think I'd be so much more attractive if it didn't look like my features were being dragged down by the weight of my cheeks.

As many have already said: you're a fucking asshole.

I had acne from age 7 onwards and changing diet, face washes, etc. didn't help. I'd just get acne and hives and other terrible shit and there was nothing I could really do about it except use makeup to cover it up because I got teased, especially when I was younger and had it when few other kids did. It's gone now and the few times I get things, I can make them go away by using the pillow trick (new pillow case nightly, towel on pillow, etc.) but I know that doesn't work for everyone and it sure as fuck didn't work when I was a young teen.

I'm 20 now and extremely lucky not to have any scarring, but there are lots of people I know that either struggle with acne now and won't see the scars fade for years (if at all) as well as friends who got past the shitty actual acne stage but still have tons of scars leftover. No idea whether it's acne vulgaris/cystic acne, but no matter what kind it is, it's not for you to personally judge.

Same. This was the only kind of acne I got after my face acne cleared up, because when I went to college, I started to use conditioner and it left bacne. I only realized this after reading about it on the net.

I personally just use a back scratcher style brush I got at walmart for like, $2.

I had large pores until I started to use moisturizer and stopped using toner. So far, I've had the best success with Cetaphil (if I have sensitive skin like, from a cold or something) as well as Aveeno (the bottle looks smaller but it's cheaper than Cetaphil, I get the redness reducing one and it works great).

>>6887792

Hi! I have oily skin. What I started to do was:

- stop using drying products like toner and blotting paper which I was using a lot
- started to only wash my face once per day
- start to do the pillowcase changes more regularly
- used face moisturizer after every shower
- using face masks (there's a cheap brand that goes for $4 a tube called "Freemans" at CVS, I like the ocean one best because of the smell, it's like berries) on the daily

The face wash I was using had a salyclic acid base, it was "L'oreal Youth Code" liquid/gel cleanser, purple bottle, bought it on sale. I've had the best luck with relatively plain liquid cleansers vs. scrubs, creams, etc.

I don't even need to wear more than just light concealer now. My skin got less oily over time. It gets oily again if I forget to do my regimine for a while for some reason

I like Physician's Formula translucent powder if I'm going out somewhere humid but other than that, I just basically stick to powder makeup because it won't slide off my face.

U avin a laff bruv?

Seems like it's not very widely used, but products based on Benzyol Peroxide is like dropping napalm on your acne. If you wake up with one that's drawn itself out in the outer layers of your skin.. You know, those that you just can't pop without leaving a red mark. With a reddening around them.. It will remove the swelling in less than an hour.
Stuff is no joke. If you get it on your clothes, or anything else for that matter, it will bleach the color right off.
I don't have terrible acne, and mostly it's unnoticeable. But when I do get it, I will just smear a bit of Basiron on and the sucker won't even know what hit it. Supposedly it's also for full-face treatments daily. Pic related, it's my towel.

Welp. Just woken up with eyes so swollen from stress-induced eczema I can barely see. Anyone got any natural remedies they can recommend? The stuff the doctor gives me is shit and also hard to get hold of.

Have you tried something as simple as a cold compress or ice in a bag wrapped in a dish towel?
The obvious natural remedy would be, of course, try to stress less. Easier said than done, I know, but if your life is being extremely negatively impacted by whatever you're stressing out about, maybe you need to rethink your priorities and how much said stress-inducing thing means to you. If it's still important as fuck, try to find a way to deal with it with less stress involved.

Also sleep a lot and force yourself to take pampering breaks. Take a bath, eat some ice cream and watch one or two episodes of a TV show. You can spare an hour for yourself.

Unfortunately it's not stuff I can avoid, I'm just about to make a big change in my life (moving to another country) and trying to sort out all the paperwork etc for it is a huge pain in the arse. Was coping with that okay, but I've just been hit with some very heavy money troubles and some 'friends' being shitty to me at my last con has caused a relapse in my mental issues. Luckily my boyfriend is 210% perfect and does everything he can to help me deal with stuff, tonight we're going to cuddle up with snacks and watch E3 together and play Batman. Lack of sleep may also be exacerbating the skin problem right now, I was at a Batman all-nighter this weekend and made the BRILLIANT decision to stay up all day Sunday instead of taking a nap when I got home from the all-nighter.

Oh, also, I have tried ice and it doesn't help much. The swelling has gone down enough that Ic an see again, but it's still very visible, and the skin is so rough I can hear my sunglasses scraping against it.

Sorry to hear that, anon, I hope everything gets sorted out soon for you!
How about aloe vera gel?
Also I know there's this stuff that I can get in BC, Canada called Herrigans/Harrigans eczema cream, or something? Basically it's this thick as fuck, scent and dye-free cream that's for putting on eczema. I know people who have had horrifically dry eczema and skin and when they used that it helped with flare-ups and also soothed their symptoms.

Have you ever tried UV treatments? Or been tanning lately?
My cousin also had terrible eczema, so she started going to a tanning salon just to get some UV rays. She wouldn't actually tan, and she'd only stay in the tanning bed for 5 minutes, but apparently the light helps with skin conditions, including eczema.

Snuggle with that boy and take a nap on his big ol' chest. He sounds like a bro :D

I hadn't considered aloe vera, that might well be useful, as the symptoms are really pretty similar to sunburn and my whole family uses aloe vera for that. Never heard of that stuff (I'm in t he UK) but I've just got some organic stuff from Lush to try out, hopefully that's less likely to have nasty side effects than chemical stuff.

I pretty much get no sunlight, I don't go out much, so maybe that would be an idea too.

I have terrible acne scars on my back and some on my chest (for whatever reason I never got much acne on my face). My hair is on the short side so my neck is exposed and it makes it hard for me to wear shirts that show too much back/neck/chest because I feel awfully embarrassed. I have gotten the acne under control but the scars haven't left.

Does anyone have any tips for either treating the scars or covering them up? I'd rather not put makeup on them but if that's the only option...

>> No.6901584

>>6901545
microdermabrasion or chemical peel are the professional options.
For at home, try a whitening cream on dark spots, scar reducer, and exfoliate when you shower. Either with a loofah, back brush, or a body scrub.

You could also look at laser treatments.

To cover them, you're probably going to be looking at makeup. You could also try a stain or spray-on bronzer, maybe?
Also you could try buying that spray foundation in a can. That might be easier than trying to apply with a sponge or something on your back.

So I died half of my hair white-blonde recently, and I plan on going more white with it once it gets a chance to breathe.

Anyway, I overestimated how good i pull this off.

I am very to tan/red skinned for it.
Also my eyebrows. arhg. so clashy. Can you guys help me out on skin lightening tips or and a way to make my eyebrows agreable until i dye it back to my natural?

I think it... looks fine?

I don't like the orangey blond pieces coming from behind your neck, but the rest looks fine.

What do you mean "clashy"? Do you mean they're too dark?
If so, you could try filling them in using a lighter colour eyeshadow, but since the rest of your hair is dark brown I think that the fact they're dark is fine...

Your eyebrows should always be the darkest color in your hair.

They're fine. You'll also probably feel better after your normal makeup routine, or just even out your skin so it's not red-like.

Use henna or natural dye (I recommend Light Mountain), that way you can dye your hair back ASAP without causing more damage.

To be honest, though, your skin just looks like it has a natural olive/pink tone, which you can't really change.
Lightening your skin tone takes AGES, and probably way longer than you want to wait before dying your hair again.

I get what you mean about your hair now, though. It's too much blonde and it doesn't suit you. It's also really unevenly bleached with lots of yellow and orange patches.
If you look at the thumbnail of your previous image, it looks like you have a white blonde chunk coming from the top, then the rest of your bangs are dark brown. I think that look would work for you, but your whole bangs being blonde doesn't.

>> No.6902453

>>6902419
This is a terrible idea, henna will react with the bleached parts of the hair, and the black parts if they've been dyed as well. You should only use henna on virgin hair you never intend to dye, ever again. There is no going back with henna, you have to grow it out and cut it off.

>>6902430
Your hair already looks pretty damaged, if you insist on bleaching it again please buy some coconut oil to use before and whilst dying it. I would also recommend doing a low volume bleach bath instead of a proper bleach. Toner would also help even out the colour.

What about natural dyes other than henna? Vegetable dyes or the brand I mentioned before, Light Mountain?
I used LM over old box dyed hair (a little over a month) and it came out just fine.

>> No.6902514

>>6902458
It might, but very likely only on the lightest parts of the hair. Blue will turn green really easily on yellow hair as well, so if you're going to try I'd recommend purple as it has less chance of going wrong.

>>6902467
Vegetable dyes and henna are fine as far as I'm aware, the problem is that they contain metallic salts which react with the ammonia from the box dye. They're not required to list it as an ingredient either so the only way you can be sure it's safe is to do a strand test on some hairbrush hair or something.
