I need big black/dark brown contacts for a "doey" look. Big enough to be noticeable but not too big that they become sclera lenses. I am completely hopeless when it comes to contacts so I have no idea where to look...

How to make satyr legs without them becoming "bulky" like fursuits? I like the thin look of these ones but they're lacking height/realism. I'm working at drawing up some designs that are both reasonable and safe, but suggestions are welcome.

>> No.6965359

I plan on going to NYCC this upcoming fall, and I've decided that I won't be cosplaying because it seems too time and money-consuming to put together a full cosplay, but I would like to wear something that isn't everyday casual wear.
What do seagulls suggest? I thought about lolita but it's just as time and money-consuming as a good cosplay. Fairy-kei, maybe?
I should note that I'm on the taller end and a bit of a landwhale, so that may restrict where/what items I can purchase.

How much higher do you want to go?! I seem to remember those were made by using a pair of pumps (heel hacked off) then encasing the shoe&leg in spandex, like a giant bootcover. The problem then is that there is no ankle support and since the shoe wasn't designed to not have a heel, all your weight is being pushed onto the ball. Coating the sole in fiberglass resin can help with this, but in the end, if you go too high, you won't be walking for very long.

I've seen them make with boots so the ankle is better supported, but then they usually have a fur coating to disguise the top.

As for realism, it's just a matter of adding details.

Ibuki, like many traditionally themed cosplay outfits, wears a fundoshi instead of modern panties. The sides of the fundoshi are concealed by her obi, giving the appearance to the modern eye of not wearing any underwear.

Fundoshi are not hard to make or at least approximate (and are actually quite comfortable if made and worn correctly).

I really want to cosplay a couple of things, but I'm not sure where to go for commissions. I want to commission someone locally, but said girl keeps brushing it off- she needs money, is good at sewing, I thought it would be a good fit.

The only problem with commissioning cosplays online is that I'm SO. FUCKING. TALL.
I've received at least three things in the mail where the bust seams are pretty much at my neck even though for each person I've commissioned, I've given them extremely specific measurements and pressed "I'm 6ft, its really important that this fits my height."

Who do I go to for this commission?
anyone on /cgl/ good at sewing for tall girls and need some cash?

Try asking in the sales threads. It might be a good place to start, at least. I know there are some seagulls around who do commissions though I don't know who. You might even be able to find someone in your area if you're lucky (and you don't live in the middle of nowhere). Do you have any friends who cosplay or do a lot of sewing? You could ask them, though that may be a little awkward since it might feel like you're imposing and they may be reluctant to take your money. Worth a shot though.

It depends on how manly you are, but I'd say go for it. Just do your research on crossplay techniques and make-up and practice applying them.

Fun-wise, Megacon is always a blast; panels, meetups, the costume contest, the Dealer's Room, everything's fun. Metrocon is also good, more anime-oriented but that's not usually a problem, plus Tampa is a pretty city to visit.

Supercon in Miami had a music festival this year (and maybe previous? I hadn't been since 2010 before this past weekend), which judging from the snippets I heard was pretty good. It's also pretty fun, more of a "family" con in the daytime with lots of guests and cool events, with more "adult"/18+ things after-hours (there was even a Boku no Pico showing lol).

Smaller cons throughout the year are always fun, too; I enjoyed Shadocon for all its backstage dramu, and if you can make it to the panhandle, Destination Anime was pretty fun times this past year.

I trust my ability to make a skirt and bodice, but I've actually never made a jacket before, surprisingly to myself. So I'm kind of fucked.
I've been looking around the internet and all, I see suggestions for horsehair in the bottom hem, but that's all I've really worked out. do I put buttons in the front? Should I fake the buttons in favor of a zipper on the back/side? I've seen most with princess seams that get cut off by the opening. How do cut the front opening? Is the skirt gored or flared or whatever on all the seams?
Basically I need help on the shape of the pattern. I figured you all might be good at this.

EGL question!
I ordered a bangle from a girl on the sales comm last Friday. She said she would send it out Monday. Okay, cool. Monday comes and goes, as do Tuesday and Wednesday. Finally, on Thursday she writes me and apologizes, saying she sent it that day and gives me a tracking number. Up until today, tracking has shown me that it's only received electronic shipping info. I figured it was just a glitch until today, when it tells me it's just left California. Is the post this shitty in CA? Does this warrant Neutral feedback?

Unfortunately there's not really much of a career in cosplay photography. You might be able to get a little bit from doing private shoots, but people won't book with you until you've built up a reputation within the cosplay community. She'll have to do a lot of free shoots, document things like the masquerade etc. and upload the photos to sites like flickr in a timely manner so people start to recognise her name. Maybe get some friends to do a private shoot with her for free so she can also post a nice set for examples of what she can do with a private shoot. It will take a bit of time to build up her name, and even after she has done, she won't be able to charge a lot of private shoots as a lot of cosplayers just don't want to pay. Some might be happy to pay a high price, but most people won't, which sucks for photographers but is basically why you can't make a living just doing cosplay photography.

You're not gonna make money off of cosplay photography for two reasons

1. Cosplayers have no idea what makes a good photo so they are easily pleased with random hall shots.

Shiny fabrics don't photograph well, and they don't look anywhere as clean as matte ones.
And please, holy shit, use cotton not silk for a yukata. Even if it was a fancy kimono, the fabric shouldn't be shiny at all.

It's really non-traditional and I'd hesitate to even call it a yukata, it's more japanese-influenced than anything. I might be kind of screwed because I already bought the fabric. One of my colours is hardly shiny at all, but the other honestly just looks like common satin. Alternatively, do any Battle Royale character and I'm sure people wouldn't even be able to remember how they actually died.

I know Belladonna got crap in loli secrets for their Fanciful Siren Waltz for being "ill fitting", but that's because they had to make the dress literally an hour before the shoot because they were given the wrong measurements.

Belladonna is some of the most well made lolita I have ever worn or touched. Their shirring is ridiculous, everything is lined, and their colors look better in person. The lace is all hand dyed too.
I seriously want to buy the Twilight Twinkle Jelly in Rainbow, halter version (still unreleased) because it's adorable and the star lace is 3D.
It's a shame people will always look at their stuff as "Indie Brand" because it is better made than any of my BtSSB or AatP, and rivals some of my older AP (Wonder Story) and Victorian Maiden in craftsmanship.
