What lolita item do you regret buying/selling?

Bags, always. I never use them and end up selling them.

There are a few I regret selling, but I most regret selling this. It was a dream dress and I splurged and paid around $550. It wasn't super flattering and I was in need of money so I sold it but I only managed to get $400 for it despite so many people saying they want it. The only person who could commit to buy had to do a payment plan, too. About 6 months later, someone sells it (not sure if it was the girl I sold it to or not, possibly) and it goes for over $850 on auction. I wanted to buy it back again but this kills me, I can't bring myself to pay over $500 for it again.

I also really regret selling this, I only got about $240 for it (maybe $230) and lost about $30 doing so. Now it goes for double.

There are also plenty of things I regret buying but that would take forever to list.

i'm fairly new-only one year in- to lolita and i went to the mall today in normal clothing and had 2 different vendors still ask me my age and were surprised i wasn't younger. I've bought a lot of sweet lolita, man. I would feel bad leaving sweet in the bloom of youth but i feel like i'm missing out on something in classic and gothic. But i don't know if i would look terribly wrong in either of those with a childlike face and all. but i feel like something is missing.
gah. i'm regretting all of my sweet purchases at once lately. it's a sad kind of feel.

All the bodyline pieces that I pined over ever since I started lolita. I believe I have acquired all of the ones I wanted but now I don't know what to do with them. Ever since I got a few pieces of brand, what I thought was at one time "good quality" just seems cheap. I have to work extra hard with bodyline just so they look presentable whereas with brand I can still look good in simple coords. Maybe this is more of a love/hate thing.

>>7257262
I think you just have to find your own style and balance anon. You can try classic/sweet, either toning down whatever sweet stuff you already have or trying out a sweeter-printed classic dress. Not everyone has the "face" for all three styles so just wear what you want!

Bodyline's quality is always my biggest regret. Once bought a jacket, thinking it's gonna be fine for autumn - turned out it was just a single layer of fabric, no thicker than for a skirt. Not even lined. Sold it for cheap just to get rid of it.

I bought this dress in the all black colorway and its surprisingly good quality.

I get the feeling a lot of bodylines basics are much better than prints or jackets. Jackets require much more expensive materials. Their cheap shit seems to come out pretty good imo

I sold my Rose Secret Secent JSK in "terracotta" (light brown/taupe) and now want it back, but the Skirt rather than JSK.

I also regret selling my Fragrant Rose Memories mint skirt to a friend. I sold it to her for less than I bought it for because I knew she loved the print and didn't have much brand. I haven't talked to her for a while but I heard she sold it this year. I know it's hers to sell, but fuck man, I would have bought it back! I love that print, even though I already have the JSK in the sepia colorway.

But so much regrets of buying shit from Bodyline that looked nice in the picture but was complete shit when it arrived.
I sold that off quite quickly.
Same goes for some items from Taobao.

All of the nice stuff from brand and taobao I kept though, and I will probably never sell it off.
Never sold anything with regrets either but almost did once.
People really wanted to buy those things, then realised I wanted to keep it, so I told them it was already sold.
I'm still a bit ashamed about that actually.

This blouse, and the other bodyline blouse I bought. The sleeves on this one are huge, I was unaware since I bought before a worn picture. It's alright quality, except for the buttons, 2 came to me broken from shipment, since they're so cheap.

I also bought a deer fur collar from etsy, but when it arrived, what I received was clearly inferior to the stock image. I got a refund and got to keep the item, but now it's kind of tainted.

Your bf is being an ass. It's Christmas gift money, spend it by spoiling yourself for a change. Whoever gave you that money intended you spending it on what made you happy. Be honest with him though, lying about it will only ruin your relationship. He's probably just jealous he didn't have any money to spend, or is such a stick in the mud that he is unwilling to splurge a little. As amazing as having your own apartment would be in the future, some extra cash on the side should help you celebrate now. What if you died in a month and you didn't get that dress, but hey, at least you almost got to buy an apartment, right? My partner is dying of cancer, and he encourages me to buy my dream items when they pop up (provided they're bargains and not a hole in the wallet) as long as I'm saving an equal amount of money. If Wolf and Frame will fit a 66cm waist I would be more than happy to buy it off you, anon.

I regret buying a couple of sweet/classic IW jsks when I was starting out. Nothing wrong with them, they just dont fit my style and now I cant seem to find a buyer.

Well this is where you have to make a decision... do you LIKE the skirt enough to buy a set of accessories for it that could potentially not match anything else in your wardrobe? Or is it simply some kind of nostalgic guilt since it was your first brand purchase?

Personally, I've bought set of accessories/tights/blouses to match a certain dress or print because I love that item

But I've also taken a step back from something and realized 'hey I'm only trying to make this work because I feel bad about buying it.' and have let pieces go because of that.

So it's up to you. Do you love the skirt and print, or do you simply love the idea of it/what the purchase means to you?

Probably around 110$, that's how much I paid for it and wore it once, but it was bought second hand. I think I'll trade it before I sell it tbh.

What do you have, anon? I might be interested.

I only bought it because I couldn't find the op, it's more sentimental value than anything that's getting me to keep it. Guess I'm finally getting the realization that I don't like it that much. Trade anyone?

I regret buying a couple of things from Annahouse because I got the wrong items or items missing. One time I ordered shoes and they didn't arrive with the blouses I ordered (one of those blouses was wrong). When they send them to me after I complained I got two left shoes. So not doing that again.

I bought the white. I might be, where are you located? What would you consider cheap?

Nope, underbust ivory. I saw someone try to sell it in the egl sales comm for like $250 (probably because a thread here priced it as that for resale, but I knew better), but no one took it, and she just kept reposting it lower and lower...

Maybe my tastes will change and I'll come around to it, or I'll try selling way down the line.

Which dresses? IW is my favorite brand, but most of the newer dresses even secondhand are just too expensive to justify.

It used to sell for that. I find it weird that it goes so low now, but maybe because I love that print with the fiery obsession if a thousand burning suns. The underbust is a hard sell because it has zero give in the sizing and it only fits very small girls. Sad, because I think it is the prettiest version. I owned it once and it mocked me when I attempted to zip it.
I think it suffers from the trend being all about AP right now. No one seems to notice or care about really awesome dresses like that now.

>the trend being all about AP right now
You mean for the past several years?

This is actually a pretty poor excuse for anything. Ap and Baby are wildly different. Baby has a very princess and elegant feel while AP is generally for party-girl and outgoing. Your comment just sounds like you think your tastes are superior and those that don't like it are only trend followers.

These girls need to lose weight to even be considered cute.

My putumayo handbag, it was such a great size and thought with it being cream colored I wouldn't find much use for it. I'm yet to see it pop up on the auction sites

I really regret buying this. It's cute, but the babydoll cut looks terrible on me, and I think I paid too much for it (220$).
