I fucking hated that when it was popular among people with Issues on tumblr. I don't know what it is about it, but seeing post after post of that from the same person elevated my fucking heart rate and made me really anxious--like they were yelling at me, or speaking normally and then suddenly yelling at me mid-sentence/mid-word.

A friend of a friend's tumblr was like that and I followed them to be polite and friendly but couldn't handle it. Then I slowed up my activity for a few weeks and quietly unfollowed them. They then vagueblogged about how they'd been unfollowed because they identified with dragons or something.

Bam, less than a year later word got out everywhere that they were a gaslighting rapist who preyed on younger tumblr kids/trans kids.

Yes. It happened to me when I was in the Kuroshitsuji fandom. I'm a pretty quiet person, so while I attended some meets at a con, I didn't really stop and talk to a lot of people at the con. If someone stopped me to tell me they liked my cosplay, I would thank them, but I wouldn't stay to chat much. Anyways, I was a young kid, and I still had a little kid body (I was 14), I was really obviously a kid. I cosplayed Alois Trancy one day at the con, and the day was going swimmingly. Until I heard it. "Omg kawaii-desu!!! IT'S ALOIS-KUN."

I heard her footsteps before I could turn around and see if she was going to attack, and well, considering she was running I dodged out of her way. Keep in mind this was a severely overweight, probably somewhere between 18-25 year old woman. Apparently she was mid jump, because next thing I know I hear a loud thump, and her screaming, "OH MY GOD MY ANKLE, ALOIS-KUN I JUST WANTED TO GLOMP YOU!!!" and her friend rushed over. I looked at her, said a quiet, "I'm sorry." and fucking booked it. Last I saw of her, she was crying on the ground, holding onto her ankle. Right after I found my dad and asked him to stay with me during the day.

The proper etiquette is to be humble. exact same thing happened to me at two different conventions, mind you at one of them I was hanging around with a friend dressed as a pikachu gijinka and it was some foreign old man who assumed I was supposed to be a pokemon trainer since I was in a red dress. he kept being persistent even after I was like "uh I'm not in costume" many times so I just stood for the photo after to make him go away.
first time was at a fall con a while ago, in one of my better outfits, mind you not cosplay, I got asked out of the blue to have my picture taken by an older man,

Yanno, I'm strangely pleased to see this thread. I'm going back to Uni today, and 4chan's off limits through the Uni interwebs, so this is the last time I'll be able to fill up on screencaps before I go.
I actually hang out with the anime club, they're sane people. I'm the most weighty person there, and that comes off very fast because our Uni is entirely built on a hill (and I only put on weight because, well, Christmas). I suppose I should be thankful that none of them appear to be massive weebs, nor do they seem to be going mad.
