Oh, and since I was really vague I wanted to mention that I've personally never worn it. Well, first of all, there is a lot of high quality fabric used.
Also, a lot of the brands are made in japan, where they can't be made in a sweatshop like cheap walmart stuff.
Brands are pretty small, but they still need to pay their employees. If they sell less, they have to add more to the price of the clothing to pay everyone in the company.
Of course, theres also the fact that some of these dresses have very limited quantities. If something is rare, it's gonna cost more.
If you could find giant chunks of gold all over the place, you probably wouldn't pay so much for it, right? It's like that.

The bane of every UK anon's life, essentially. Should your parcel be hit with custom fees, the postage company/courier is entitled to charge you a handling fee for the privilege of paying the customs fees on your behalf (you then pay the deficit back to them, as well as the handling fee).

It's not just Parcel Force that do it, but they've got a reputation for their particularly extortionate fee (£13.50) and the fact they won't give you your parcel until you pay it. Most other companies will give you the parcel, then chase you for the money.

Now I think about it, this skirt sent by airmail might go via Royal Mail instead. Still £8 in handling fees though.
