If shipping is the issue, here's my suggestion:
Buy two of one of the wig styles linked. You should have enough wefts to rip for each of her pigtails, and a base wig too. Style the base wig, and use this tutorial to make your wig.

New outfit for the Iorifags

>> No.7427367

Making raid trip sanageyama for AM this july. Anyone know what that necklace he wears is made of? Its never drawn very well and my best guess is its a chain of some sort.

Also for his track suit trench coat- whats the best material to make it from? Haven't done much sewing and not sure of the name of that type of material. Is there a decent starter inforgraphic on forming a coat from scratch or a decent site with some instruction?

I really don't want to be attacked for this question, but I've never watched the anime but I've been seeing some really good cosplays come out of this fandom. Like, stunning cosplays. However, I heard that the material of the show is sometimes less than... tolerable, for certain audiences. On a scale of 1-10, how disturbing (in relation to content; sexual, violence, etc) is this show?

>> No.7427536 [DELETED]

>>7427529
I think only the bathtub scene and everything before that was intended to be jerk-off material while relevant.
The spanking thing, whatever Ragyo was doing to Satsuki in the stadium, the threeway thing, etc. are just, "Well Ragyo's a bad mom and Nui's encouraging it."

But people have weird kinks and can get off to virtually anything.
I was just saying, it loses the intentional-wank material after a episode 16.

the rest of the show was also pretty cringeworthy imo, it's going for "wow, we're so anime!" but it ends up as "wtf was that i'm grossed out"

also there's an episode where Ryuko gets sentimental about people peeping on her while she's in the bath. which is again, played for comedy, but really rubbed me the wrong way. ymmv i guess but for me it was like a 7

I think it's a problem a lot of people have with drawing too. They see things as individual things and not a whole so everything looks bad. They see Senketsu's patch as a boob cover and not part of senketsu's face. Or even if they see it as his eye they don't take that into consideration when it comes to the other eye so still, looks real bad.

Some Ryuko wig progress I'd like some crit on, mostly regarding the red stripe placement.
I did the front part of the bangs, and I'm working on the red stripe's placement before I sew the weft in. (The red bit arrived as a separate clip on, bleah.)

I've got to straighten the back and a bit of the sides since the wig is really thick and likes to flip upwards, but is there anything else it looks like I'm missing?

It might help you to know it's based off Jotaro Kujo's outfit from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (pic related). Mako's hat, just like his, is only really the front half of the hat with the back "torn" off. (Don't do a full hat. It will look stupid and would be missing the point of the outfit reference.)

As far as the coat goes, to get it to look right you have to make your own, because in the design it has big, exaggerated proportions. Try finding a trench coat pattern and widening/lengthening the sleeves/shoulders/bottom/etc!

I'm another two star Mako in the making and I was wondering what you guys thought about el-wire life fibers like psychedelicpaprika's? I'm on the fence about how I want to make them. El wire is an option, but the other thing I was considering was some metallic/reflective bias tape I found, that might imitate the look of the shifting fibers IRL. I need to be able to put it on my cap/hip stars, whatever I use.
There's also the option of bright red bias tape but I'm worried that'll be too plain? Mako is my girl and I want to go all out with this and look spectacular! Thanks for any help, cgl.

more of a general bancho (juvenile delinquent) reference than a jotaro kujo reference.

common traits of that character type being a lengthened uniform jacket and actually wearing the uniform's hat

the female equivalent, the Sukeban will usually be shown with a lengthened skirt and dyed hair (blond/brunette)

Makoto Kino from Sailor moon is a good example of that type of character

But buying a uniform like mako's online for upwards of 50$ is pretty stupid. It's so much cheaper and easier to make on your own. Honestly just trying to save you money.
Also, if whenever you plan to cosplay is months away, I think you could spend a little time learning how to sew if you had a machine.
Having the resources available and not wanting to do it is different from not having access to a machine and buying it online.

Clearly you missed my point because you don't sew.
Cosplays aren't store-bought clothes. Do you know how much more expensive it would be to make all your everyday clothes than to buy them, with how many you own?
Costumes are expensive because they're specific for something and are often a strange/atypical design you won't find in stores. They're also more expensive because the people who make them know that lazy shits like you who can't bother to learn how to sew a straight line will pay for low-quality costumes that resemble the character.
How stupid can you possibly be? Comparing cosplays to everyday clothing is ridiculous. Sewing an entire wardrobe is different from sewing one fucking outfit.

Without a seam? Nearly impossible. Superskilled seamstresses/tailors might be able to, but you'd need to make your own design, I think. It's a dress, but one piece and has pleats at the bottom. Honestly, that makes very little sense in the world of pattern-making, because the fabric you'd use would have to flare out around your waist in order for you to make the pleats without a seam showing.
TL;DR
No, it doesn't seem possible to make her dress without a visible seam. I wouldn't sweat it though because KLK characters have very little seams shown in any outfits.

and you're missing the point, too. just because they're more specialized doesn't change the fact that it's less time consuming and less expensive if you're not already outfitted with all the materials you need. if you're just cosplaying once, it's much more cost effective to buy a simiple costume, rather than buy cloth, thread, and a sewing machine that will hardly ever be used again. And you're assuming that people will be able to automatically sew things right the first time. If you're a complete beginner to sewing, the amount of time and material costs for all the screwups you're undoubtedly going to make will probably equal or exceed the cost of just buying it.

I said earlier that I sympathize with people who have no machine. I'm not going to say "go buy one" for one or two cosplays. That's ridiculous.
I understand buying an outfit for cheap, if you can find it, because hey, very little work and not much money out of your pocket is lost.
What I AM saying is that Mako's uniform is simple. If you have a sewing machine and enough skill to hold fabric straight and press a pedal, you should make the outfit yourself rather than pay $50+ online for a shitty uniform.
What about that is hard to understand? It gives you experience, it's not difficult in the slightest, and you save money. I see no downside to this aside from putting some time aside from your avid 4chan browsing to pin and sew something.

If you decide to do Ryuko, all I ask is that you do it well-- don't halfass it. Have a scissor, make it look true to the original design without actually wearing her outfit-- I've seen so many lazy guy!ryukos that think a red stripe in their hair and a poorly made senketsu eye look acceptable.

Crunches are a terrible, useless exercise. If you want a good core, do Deadlifts and Front Squats, and throw in planks. As far as definition goes, run a diet called Ketosis (google it). Basically, no carbs so your body uses your fat as energy instead. it'll burn fat like nothing else. "toning" exercises don't burn fat anymore than legit strength-building compound lifts. Do SS or something, you need more muscle mass too. As far as protein goes, your body increases protein synthesis AFTER a workout. You have a good 24 hours afterwards, then it slowly tapers off. If you are working out daily though, it doesn't matter when you take your shake. Goal should be 1g of protein for every pound of bodyweight daily.

>> No.7432360

>>7431553
She's mocking because "toning" is fucking stupid and isn't a real thing. There is only fat loss and hypertrophy as far as body shape goes. Using more energy than you intake leads to the former and lifting leads to the latter.

Her eyebrows are very pronounced, but they still have a distinct shape. You'd probably be better off following it more closely to avoid the Rock Lee look. Also consider light contouring on your face (Satsuki's face is fairly sharp), as well as a bit more eye makeup. Definitely do a thicker line of eyeliner on the top, a slight wing usually looks good. Another thing to consider are fake eyelashes, but for her they'd only be on the outer edge. Objection! her hair and uniform is dark blue. Have a look at pic related. If they wanted her hair to be black they would have made it a dark grey like her breast plate bra thing (what is that even?) Or like Satsuki's hair. Artists sometimes use blues to represent black but I'm pretty sure this is not the case here they have represented black in other ways. Like why would they make the rest of the black stuff in the show grey but then suddenly blue for the black? It dun make sense.

But.

They have the same hair color.

It's definitely black.

It goes black when she transforms from what I can tell but I pretty sure it's a dark blue when she's casual

Yeah, just like how it randomly gets more red in it as well

It's black. She and Satsuki have the same hair color and the fact that it sometimes appears dark blue is likely to distinguish it from other black/darkgrey things around her, and/or for effect.

I take back what I said. Just skimmed through an episode, it switches from black to blue colour purely based on shot colouring, not transformation. It's possible that Satsuki just had dark blue hair, too, but they probably both have black.

But I still generally prefer Ryuko cosplays with black-blue hair just cause it looks nicer.
Dunno mang, what do you guys think?

>>7433937
I'm partial to blue-black myself, I think it has more depth. But honestly it could easily go either way.

>> No.7433955

>>7433937
It can go either way to me, as long as it looks nice.

Also that Senketsu eye and the random latex-y glove is driving me crazy in that Ryuko cosplay ugh. Sad deflate-y hair...

Hey guys, I'm working on my Satsuki mock-up, and I'm having trouble with the gold "stripes" on un-transformed Junkets. Do you think it would be better to applique on bias-cut strips, or try to pattern out one or two pieces that fit in? I'm leaning towards applique, but I'm worried it will be hard to get it to lay nicely.

Everything else is turning out fantastic so far, I'm just stuck there.

Why do people think that the senketsu eye patch goes over their boob and not where the other eye would've gone??

>> No.7433968

>>7433960
Because that's where it is on Ryuko's chest. The "X" itself is higher up to simulate where Senketsu's eye would be, but the patch thing itself is made to cup her boob, like half a bikini or something.

Why... are Senketsu's eye and the x on the patch sparkly...?

I think I like a tint of blue, as well. But for her transformation I like pure black, since it matches with transformed senketsu more. Thats just me though.
