I saw an ad from a marketing company on a job website. They were looking for an "advertising campaign loading technician". The only requirements were being meticulous and responsible, but I think having a uni degree helped. They didn't really specify what the job was until I went to the interview. I work in an office, although I could probably do it from home.

Look for similar ads, sorry I can't be of much more help. It is a stressful job though. All the income of the company depends on me doing my job right.

I work at a grocery store part time, and both my partner and I receive student loan money.

Plus his dad got him into the stock market. Without it, we'd probably be scraping by, but now our expenses are very comfortably covered and there's always a little left over. He likes it when I wear lolita and likes to support me in the hobby, so he'll buy me something if I need it.

In the future I plan to open a little etsy shop, but that's probably at least a year or two away. I really don't make anything I'd be proud of selling quite yet but I think that'd be really fun. And then hopefully the proceeds from that can go solely towards my lolita and cosplay stuff.

OP if you are good at thrifting you could try selling finds on ebay.

Random person here
I used to do this
The goodwill I went to charged by the pound so I got shit really cheap. One day it looked like a hottopic exploded and I got a bunch of Twight Tshirts that looked like new. Sold like hot cakes.
One buyer complained that the shirt was smaller then what was marked. Even though I listed the shirt's tag size (m) and measured it by hand. LOL twight ham fan.

>> No.7472802

I do a few things. I work 40 hours per week. I'm a real estate agent separately (new though) and I sell on ebay. like I said on >>7472793 I sell some opportunistic stuff like (anything I come across anywhere that looks like it's worth money, clothes, video games, new products on clearance) that but that's not where most of my ebay money comes from. I also sell anything & everything I don't want to reduce clutter and get some money back. Just sold a wig & an old costume for around $400. I used to do ebay commissions.
But even after all that, I'm not rolling in money, I spent a ton just to get a car to be a real estate agent. I could buy brand every month but not really have a lot of savings left over. I'm looking for a new job because I don't really make much at mine.
I have sold stuff on etsy and also wrote articles for textbroker before and that made a tiny bit of money, like $50 a week. So it wasn't really worth it. I've tried ads and stuff on my blogs, makes no money but I don't own a popular blog or youtube or anything.

yeah I'm not even good at thrifting and I've still found some nice stuff. my favorite was a Harajuku Lovers bag that sold for about $75. I wish my goodwill was per pound they are actually really expensive.
I look out for vintage pyrex, new in box stuff, branded clothes like Anthropologie in good condition, also anything that just looks quirky, if I like it maybe someone else will too? I know some girls do this like.. full time, there are a ton of things you can get. I have heard of people selling a lot of plus sized clothing and shoes but I don't want to get into that.

>> No.7472827

How much does it cost to actually be able to afford things? I really want to get into gothic lolita but I don't know if it's doable. I'm basically a college freshman working for $9/hr 10-15 hours a week for the university's IT department during the year, and then for this summer I got a full time internship that pays like $21/hr and $31.5/hr overtime. But I mean on the priority list for expenses it's basically

>Education
I want to pay off the loans as soon as possible, and that should be completely doable if I can get an equal or better internship next summer. I have some scholarships, am paying the in-state tuition price, and I'll be graduating after my junior year.
~$10k

>Car
I don't need this yet but I will soon. I'd rather buy a new car because buying used scares me and also I feel like buying new and then not dealing with repairs will be cheaper in the long run, but I don't think I'm going to have the means.
~$5k-$20k

>Eight months worth of dollars
To give me a buffer to live off of while I find a real job post-graduation. If I move in with my parents temporarily it'll be a whole lot less so that's probably what's going to happen.
~$0k-$15k

>Desktop
I can code just fine with my laptop and I really don't need this but I miss video games.
~$1k-$1.5k

So total expenses are anywhere from ~$16k-$46.5k depending.

I have about ~$4k in the bank right now and four semesters and two summers to go. So by the time I graduate, I should have ~$34k total as a rough estimate. This is enough to cover education, a computer, and a nice car, but if my parents don't let me live with them then I'd get a sub-$5k used car and pray that I find gainful employment in 8 months.

This does not leave much money for pretty dresses.

>> No.7472847

>>7472827
It depends on what styles but I'd say for a good starting wardrobe of at least 2 main pieces and enough versatile staples to be a jumping off point to expand your wardrobe later.. about $800?
It's good you've listed out your expenses but there's probably some corners you could cut if you are serious. Building a computer would save a few hundred dollars easily, and you probably don't need $1800 living expenses. You could also find a part time job while looking for a "real job". Because realistically you aren't going to be looking for a job 14 hours a day, so it's up to you how to you want to use the remaining few hours of the day.

>buying used scares me
I bought a pre-owned car and it's great. The thing is that I bought it directly from the original owner, who was only selling it because he had to improve his credit in order to buy a house. So he bought the same exact car and wanted to get rid of the old one, which was only five years old. He also saved all of its paperwork from past tune-ups and modifications so we knew what had to be done with it in case there were any problems.

One of my friends bought a used car from a dealership but I think it might be best to avoid them because it can be difficult to find low-mileage vehicles at secondhand dealerships. Plus you can't haggle the price down at one of those and they probably wouldn't tell you much about the vehicle's history.

I work part-time in retail at the local mall while being a full-time student. I'm really unhappy with it but I don't have anything else to fall back on. It's really affecting my grades and mental wellbeing. I'm stressed about money all the time because the pay is not enough and the work is demanding. Lately they've been making me a backup person for a sales specialist position (when they're not there, but of course they haven't mentioned more pay). We really should be getting commissioned pay, but the company fears competition among associates. We have to track individual sales though. We also have to push credit which I get a lot of, but there are rarely any incentives. They also throw all new people at me, and since I feel bad for them I try to help them (there is no training, just throwing people out on the floor). I sometimes end up doing two jobs at once because of this. I feel like a lead but I'm just a lowly associate. They rely on a lot of call-in shifts and use this to manipulate part-timers into working over their available hours. The only way for me to manage school is to work around 20 hours or less a week. They will schedule me about 16-18 and then slip a call-in in there that they always use and put me up to 24-26. They'll also put me on closings which you never know what time you'll get to leave. This puts me up a couple additional hours to around 28 usually. The manager can turn into a bitch easily, so I'm too scared to say anything. I just want to quit. The job is cool as a summer/winter break job, but that's it. I considered selling plasma to get by until then, but I'm scared of needles and feel pathetic if I have to resort to selling parts of my body off.

Most studies I participate are limited to students at my uni, so try searching "[school here] psychology studies" or something like that: most psych departments will have a page somewhere on what studies their grad students are currently running along with their contact info.
If you do pick some up, remember: be 5 minutes early, be cheerful, be diligent! These researchers are really passionate about their studies, so they appreciate when volunteers are respectful of their responsibility to be honest and effective with their results. I've gotten referrals to other paid studies because the researchers have liked my attitude enough to pass me along as a 'good subject' to their teams.

I work part time as a dishwasher at a restaurant and currently attending college to be an auto mechanic. I hate my job but I get paid above $9.00 an hour so I just deal with it.

I work at home depot part time and make fursuits on commission.

Furries be rollin in dough. Or they spend their lunch money/life savings on it. Same thing as far as I'm concerned. At 1k for a head and 2.5-4k for a whole costume, I only need to make about a full costume a month to get a middle-class salary. Best part is that I only claim part of my commissions on my taxes, so a bunch of it is untaxed money, on top of my legit home depot money.

I wish I had the skill level to commission fursuits. I've talked to a few of their kind, most seem to pay 2k+ for their suits. Seems like an awesome way to make some extra. Especially since a lot of it is carving, and I love that shit.

It's definitely awesome. If you have good aesthetic sense you don't even have to make on commission. I've made random things and just sold them for higher than commissioned costumes because you sell the "character" too. Haha, just don't have poor taste I guess.

I work as a hairdresser and do hair in and out of the salon. The former is a bit illegal but I keep 100% of the profit that way. Besides that I just don't live above my needs too often and I'm patient enough to wait when it comes to big purchases.

I think about cam-whoring for dudes sometimes but the fear of someone recognizing me makes me not.

I work part-time 16 hours a week at Ikea, which is about $27/hour. That is a decent wage, and it's also very flexible which is nice since I'm a university student.

I also got a summer job at my university as a teaching assistant for the summer school. It's for 13-16 year old kids, and all we will be doing is going around and helping them build and program Lego Mindstorms robots, which is pretty fun. It's only 30 hours a week and $47/hour, so it's a pretty sweet deal.

I hope you take some welding classes if they offer them. Most shops will hire someone with less experience but can weld over someone that can wrench and has some experience. You could always get in with the drift crowd and start welding them diffs for maximum skids for extra money too, it's pretty fun ;3

I have a full time job where I make about double the US minimum wage. I'm also a full time college student. My scholarships actually pay for all of my classes and books, with quite a bit left over at the end of every semester, so I kind of get paid to attend college.

I also live with my parents, and they don't make me pay for rent or anything. I'm under twenty so really I don't see any problem with still living with my parents.

Basically I have more money than I really know what to do with. In addition to lolita, I also have a bunch of other fairly expensive hobbies.

I serve meatballs haha. I'm from Norway, and my wage is 150-170kr/hour, which is about $24-27/hour. That is pretty decent for most retail/supermarket/restaurant type of jobs. I still live at home since I'm a student, but pay $250 for rent to my mom. So I get a decent amount to use each month, though I like to save most of it.

Ops, sorry for getting you excited. I wrote it in USD so that it would be easier to understand and forgot to say that I'm not from the US.

Ikea is pretty nice for a part-time job, like we go out a lot like bowling, lasertag, cinema and it's paid by the company. Not sure if it's like this in other countries though. It's not a job I would work for the rest of my life, but it's decent if you work part-time I guess.

Also, my job doesn't suck (quite the opposite, it's super awesome and I LOVE it), and I'm done with most of my super lame general education courses. So when you like/love what you're doing, that always helps!

Get scholarships. My family is lower middle class, and they were not able to fund my college career AT ALL. Not even a cent.

But I got scholarships, and I applied for financial aid. It's really not that difficult to afford. Usually you'll end up with some money in your pocket.

I know a lot of people who get Pell Grants, and those pay for your classes, books, and a little extra.

Not that anon, but see if your college has a career center. If it's a prestigious uni, all the better - they can hook you up with internships that match your criteria if you're willing to do the footwork with contacting them/interviews/etc.
That is, assuming you're looking for internships while in school still. If you've already got a degree but you're looking for internships then you're jolly well fucked.
