I guess I qualify as "normal sized", and idk I do wish I was a skinny cosplayer.
Been trying to lose weight and get a flat tummy, but my medication just isn't letting it happen.
I think other normal sized people look great in cosplay though!
(couldn't find a good example picture, but Cifera has a great body type for cosplay)

I'm on lexapro and wellbutrin
I'm on 10mg of lexapro, and it unfortunately causes me to retain a lot of water, so getting a flat tummy is pretty difficult at the moment
My psychiatrist and I are still trying to figure the right dosage and what has the least amount of side effects though, so hopefully we get this figured out soon because damn I want a cute flat tummy

I'm a non skinny cosplayer
I have big hips, don't have a narrow waist and have a belly, have big thighs, big boobs, etc
I would probably be a perfect hourglass if I had a tiny waist/no belly but it's a genetic thing, I eat a regular diet but should probably try exercising more.

I had the EXACT OPPOSITE with Effexor.

I've gained 15 pounds since I started Effexor. I've always been a stress-eater, but I think Effexor has affected my metabolism a bit more and also increased my appetite. I'm finding it harder to lose the weight too.

To other anon on Lexapro -- remember that everyone's bodies react differently to meds. You might lose weight, you might gain weight. It's all about balancing the pros and cons of your mental health and physical health.

They're two different types of drugs. Wellbutrin is a non-tricyclic antidepressant, and Lexapro is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor). Both are frequently used in conjunction with other anti depressants/anti anxiety medication to deal with incomplete reactions to single drugs, but Wellbutrin is particularly common as an add-on drug.
Basically, a lot of people don't respond well enough to one drug; adding the second increases success rate and can also help lessen the bad side effects.

W & L did the trick for me and didn't make me gain weight, unlike every other drug. Too bad I'm too much of a poorfag to afford medication now, because I used to be 10 lbs lighter and look better in my cosplays.

Med student here, it can be just as effective if not more effective while minimizing side effects from either drug (since the dose of each drug is usually lower than if you were taking it alone). Lexapro and Wellbutrin are in two different classes of antidepressants (SSRI and dopamine-norepinephrine modulator, respectively) and so the idea is to try and "hit" two different pathways to improve efficacy. It's like taking Tylenol and Motrin at the same time for better pain relief.

The problem with bmi is that it assumes you have a relative muscle mass per height. For the lower heights up to about 5'8", they over assume how much muscle you should have, which is why it seems really high for people who are that height. For the upper heights, they under assume how much muscle you should have, meaning the weights seem too low. They only accurate way to see what's healthy is to have your bodyfat percentage calculated. I'll say now as an ex-fitness instructor that most people vastly overestimate how much muscle they have. Women in the legs and men in the gut, no they are not as muscle packed as you think.

I think it always helps when you dress to your body type, wear something flattering etc. but I think that goes for pretty much everyone.

I feel like I have an unfortunate body type. I'm kind of approaching skinnyfat (still in the healthy range according to >>7676898 ). I recently started taking meds (Wellbutrin, holla other sufferers) and while the scale tells me I lost ~10 lbs. My weight distribution is such that I'm still a flabby fuck with a tummy pooch but you can see my ribs and my hip bones protrude.

Aside from that, I have wide-ish shoulders, but a small ribcage and hipbones. Even when my waist gets smaller I'm still quite the rectangle. Add big thighs and small breasts to the mix and I hate my body a lot some days. I wish I could be a modestly endowed hourglass, maybe with a little tiny gap at the top of my thighs.

Pretty sure I'm just catastrophizing, when I was working out regularly I didn't look that bad. I weighed only 3 lbs less than I do now but I was toned.

No that chart is bullshit...It does not measure BMI accurately at all. That's why the military determines BMI using neck to waist ratio measurements to determine BMI. For example, I'm 5'7" tall and when I got out of Basic Training I still weighed 173 lbs. According to the height/weight chart I was still overweight but when they measured me and calculated my BMI I was at 11% BMI. I had a straight up six pack and was toned head to toe.

Also the neck to waist ratio thing is super inaccurate, the military just uses it because it's cheaper than dunking every boot into a hydrostatic tank. Hydro tanks still have +/- 1.5% error, the error for neck to waist is up to +/- 100%.

I agree so much with this. The way IRN is shooping her face and midsection now makes her look so disproportionate and strange. As a female who has always struggled with serious weight issues her whole life, I'd be so fucking happy to look like the real her and I wish I could make cosplays as good as she does. You can tell she really likes what she's doing, but she needs to lay off the heavy eye makeup and the bad photoshop. that last Poison photo was just awful.

I can't really blame them either, but it also doesn't help the situation, it furthers the problem to the point they'll end up hating themselves because they can never match the illusion she's made of herself. It's like digging yourself further into a hole you'll never be able to live up to in real life, and that's dangerous. makes me wonder how she got away with doing this for so long. my friend got some shots back from Katsu a few years back and shooped some small things. Like a few blemishes on her chin and evened some of her eyeliner that had smudged while she was fixing her wig. I think a part of her costume was crooked on her waist so she moved it, too but I can't be sure. the photog even said they would fix that kind of stuff in post, but they didn't (it was a paid shoot).

anyway it was simple shit. Friend didn't fuck with her own proportions or lighting or any backround crap, but the photographer had words with her about it anyway. It wasn't too mean, just said "if you're going to Photoshop anything, you should have asked me first" kinda thing.
So it makes me wonder how these e-fame cosplay girls get away with altering their entire bodies without the photog saying anything. Is it because of this internet fame status thing going on now? or like, do neon's old photogs honestly don't know about these changes?

A lot of photographers say to just go for it and they don't care. some of them like seeing the photos before you post them. if Iw as ~super popular cospray idor~ I would probably not even schedule a photoshoot unless I knew in advance the photog would let me shoop whatever I wanted to my heart's content.

Having no hips sucks and even when I was in the overweight category I still had no boobs. 40lbs lighter and I have protruding collarbones, hip bones and ribs. But I still have a flabby stomach and huge thighs.
