The sash not going round the whole bottom of the dress makes it look wrong to me. In the movie, it definitely stopped after the two bows, but in some figures and artwork it goes the whole way round and I just think it looks so much better.

Her face is so good for princesses. And I like her wig choice. Very natural. The fringe doesn't really look like Cinderella's though.
Still, not as bad as her horrendous new side parting in the 'modern' artwork.

Two of her fairy godmothers fought over whether her ballgown should be pink or blue. Personally I don't think she had a set palette, just that two of her more memorable dresses were blue.

Besides, it's Disney. Target market is 8-year-old girls. Princesses with long hair and pink floofy dresses win out over tomboys, which is also why Mulan gets stuck in fancy outfits.

My great-grandmother was native, straight off a tribe in I think Montana. Great-grandpa was super Irish. Grandad and Uncle look native (especially with tans, and they tan easily) but my grandma is Irish/English and my mom looks like her, and I look like my mom...so of course when I was little I tanned easily and had straight nearly black hair and looked like little Pocahontas. Then I got older and paler and got freckles and my hair lightened and got wavy and now I don't tan and WTF happened?

I will never get over Cinderella's re-design. Everyone just got softer-looking with more wispy hair so the art styles would look more uniform, but Cinderella's hairstyle was completely changed. Also she now has ears, which is strangely jarring.

Oh god this is so unfortunate. Amazing embroidery, silhouette/shape accuracy, and construction killed by completely missing the mark on the dress color. Elsa's dress is TEAL, so obvious to the eye looking at any reference, not the evening blue this person used. Her dress is also a matte (with a subtle sheen), slightly velvety/woolen look fabric, not shiny at all. Just completely fucked up the main fabric. Disappointing. Either the sewer is color blind and fabric illiterate or just plain stupid.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the Yuurisans' Elsa and Anna cosplays? Especially the Elsa- the construction is just plain bad and the wig looks so wonky. But I think the worst part is the bodice, which gives her a saggy grandma uniboob in every photo I've seen. Their makeup also kind of makes them look like aliens but I don't think that can be helped because that's just their faces.

Marketing. Aurora appeared more often in blue before the Disney Princess franchise started. Pink is her brand color now, the same way that Cinderella is now officially rebranded a blonde in a blue dress, rather than strawberry blonde in a light silver dress with some blue tinge.

I rather dislike Elsa's dress too. As mentioned, it looks anachronistic in a very distracting way and it just looks kind of . . . cheap. Its the bodice! When viewed from a distance, in movement, the effect is fine, but when you see the bodice up close it makes me think of either insect shells or cheap, modern day plastic sequins. I think a bodice mimicking the organic shape of frost ferns or the more geometric design of snowflakes could have looked nice.

I will also agree with this, Rapunzel's dress isn't that pretty to me. Its a shade that straddles the line between pink and lavender and can quite decide what it wants, the concept art here >>7762437 depicts the dress in a very flattering way but I still prefer the green. If it had to be lavender maybe a less saturated shade? The fabric choices didn't help either. I think part of the reason the concept art looks more appealing is the rougher texture, the satiny sheen doesnt do it for me.

I'm also ambivalent on Tiana's official dress. She had so many fun looks! The wedding dress isn't ugly at all, I don't think, I just think its too literal, her blue dress and the flapper dress are so much nicer imo.

I know at WDW, you can only dress up in costume if you're 10 and under/a little kid, or at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. And even at the Party, you CANNOT pretend to be a face character or sign autographs or things like that.

Disneybounding is ok since you're wearing normal clothes based off a character and you don't pretend you work there.

Honestly, the group itself for the most part isn't too bad... Except for that Anna. What a fucking lazy costume. It looks like a cheap Leg Avenue-tier Halloween satin stripper version of Anna compared to the other costumes, which at least have detailed armor. She looks absolutely terrible in the middle of all the others there.

Besides which I meant it should be a crystal-like armor. Her entire thing is the glass slipper. Work it in there somewhere. Her outfit is probably the second weakest right behind Anna's in terms of cohesive detail (Ariel would be third). She's got a metal riveted top, a tutu, arm warmers, leg warmers and shin armor, and sandals. Why sandals? If she went with some kind of clear or at least glittered material she could make shoe covers that blend with the shin guards at least. It looks like she left her damn shoes at home and had to go to Payless last minute.

Because armor in fictional media is always 100% logical right? And as others have already pointed out, their outfits aren't really practical from the start anyway.

These were made up designs for a themed group, I'm with the other anon, and think glass(crystal, whatever) armor would have been a really good idea for Cinderella.

Well it is more flatting to the female figure so I can see why people use it in their 'original' designs. To be fair though Kamui also released a cuirass like pattern too so its really just ease of construction and a more flattering design.
