It grinds my gears when people ask "size?" on a sales post (this happens especially often on LSE) for a dress that only has one size.

People who can't be assed to look it up on lolibrary themselves, especially a well-known print that can easily be googled, don't deserve the dress.

>> No.7760042

>>7760008

It grinds my gears when a seller can be assed to post measurements. If the brand measurements are true to size, then just copy paste them, but there are plenty of dresses where the measurements given by the brand aren't entirely true. I'd much rather ask someone who has the dress in front of them to measure it and be safe.

So I got an email from AP about a pair of socks I bought from their final sale, basically they had the socks listed at the wrong price and emailed me to let me know they were going to charge me an extra 200 yen for them. It was really weird, I got the email after the socks had left Tenso and I wonder why they're nitpicking over 200 yen on a plain pair of socks from an unpopular series. To be honest, I completely forgot to fill that in when I first registered for AP's new site because I was rushing to snag some sale items that I knew were going to disappear fast...and then when they shipped to Tenso it sat in their warehouse for several weeks because they didn't know who it belonged to and I didn't know to contact them about it. I have a friend who does this and he's a cool dude. Afaik he doesn't wear lolita for sexual fetish reasons, he just likes to wear pretty dresses, and he doesn't usually do wigs or makeup. Thankfully I'm not sweet so I don't deal with this as much.

I don't wear lolita, but I've loved the look long enough to know what works.
Does anyone have tips for telling a friend they desperately need to wear a petticoat (every dress she wears is instantly disappointing/ borderline ita because of no shape) and sometimes I wish she were a little more liberal with makeup because she usually doesnt wear any, which completely washes out any attempt at piecing her looks together.
I dont think she'll listen because I'm younger and also don't wear lolita. I've tried to approach the subject before in a positive manner and contribute with helpful comments, but it seems like thats a subject we'll talk about where she'll change the subject.
I know she can do so much better. Her coords themselves aren't bad, just executed so poorly and I feel she's getting terrible advice from 2 other girls she dresses with who pull the same shit.
I'm human filth who feels a stirring urge to put together an outfit just to show it done right/ the validity of my arguments... and to 1-up people who wave off my opinions.

I have no fucking clue, but everyone who cries scalper kind of misses the whole point of supply and demand. Setting prices is a seller's prerogative, deciding whether to part with their money is the buyer's. There is no point in "calling people out" for "scalping" on threads/sites that are for sales purposes, it just shits up the entire place. If people are such shitty sellers that they don't know how to price anything then no-one will buy, simple, and they're stuck with the item + the cost of buying it in the first place. If you don't like the price/can find it cheaper on closet child then buy it there yourself, don't throw a tantrum over it. Obviously, legitimately shitty selling practices like not shipping, undisclosed damage, backing out of things you've agreed to in writing etc. aren't on, but choosing how to price your own items isn't exactly bad selling practice in and of itself.

Anon, maybe your brother can try to dress in punk lolita or gothic because i think black and dark colors look better for a male than pastels or bright colors. Maybe instead if you suggest him to do some EGA/Aristocrat would be better than lolita, because lolita is too "girly" compared to EGA that is more androgynous and more suitable for boys if they don't want look too much like a girl.
I admit i saw some decent brolitas wearing the fashion without looking too feminine and still you understand they are male, but more androgynous maybe? Like also with no wig, subtle makeup, no fake boobs and so on. He has longish hair or mid length? Because he would look decent even without a wig in this way.

i'm so excited right now.

so i've been thinking of getting into lolita fashion for a few years now but have never had the money or time to do it until now, i just got a new job that pays really well and i'll be financially stable for the first time since moving out of my parents' house.
i live with my boyfriend and he's a little more traditional, he kinda knows my power levels when it comes to this shit but we never really talked about it before because i just didn't have the money to do any sort of decent looking jfash

so tonight i'm looking into what i want my first dress to be, and i feel a little nervous that this is going to be weird for my bf so i decide i need to have the talk with him
so i showed him some dresses and explained the different types and showed him some coords that i like and the style i want to achieve (i really like classic lolita)

and he likes it, he didn't jump up and down but he told me it was cool
i was expecting him to be a little weirded out at first but he wasn't at all and i'm really excited to get my first dress now and get all the things i want for my first coord!!!

I've bought items from Japanese auctions that have arrived with a slightly musty odor (as if they'd been stowed away in a trunk for a while), and they usually smell fine after hanging in my closet for a week or so.
If it remains, you can always take it to the cleaners (or risk handwashing it, depending on the print).

So I used a SS for Loyal Rosette. I got messages from the SS owner saying she got all the items I asked from her. I sent her an email saying that I'd love to be able to pay her for her services right away, but haven't gotten any response.

I'm a little confused because her SS has gotten absolutely no negative reviews. She hasn't asked for payment yet (I requested in-store shopping).

For in-store reservations like this, do you normally pay after the SS has acquired all the items or before? I'm a little worried. I just want to give her my money.

>> No.7763546

>>7763516

One time an SS I was using got a bit busy with something or another, so I had to wait awhile for her to tell me how much to pay her. As far as I can figure, half the wait was because she has to sit down and pick out which items on her bank statement were mine, tally those, and calculate the fees. The other half of the wait seems to be packing up the items, weighing them and getting a shipping quote. The release where this happened was a fairly popular one, so doing all of these for multiple people probably took her a while.

Personally I'm happier to wait for the final bill rather than have her send me a partial bill now, but then send me corrections later, or asking for money now and then not being able to find the time to ship the items out.

If you're worried about whether or not she got your items you could always ask her to snap a quick photo of them with her handphone.

Do it, but it'll only be good if the outfits are completely awful. Go the whole way to make them obnoxiously bad but still trying to be lolita, and then get extra fake butthurt when people suggest improvements. Like wearing multiple brand headbows, bags and other accessories that don't even match the dress.

Not to be a debbie downer, but there's a ribbon right across the "shirred" part of the skirt, looks to be grosgrain or something similar. I don't think it'll have a lot of stretch.

I agree with the other anon that it'll be easy to get rid of if it doesn't fit, though, might as well give it a try.

I'm actually looking at boaters too! Are you looking for a straw one? I'm looking at both straw and felt ones (I'd love to have a bunch of hats like this in different colours that I can make my own ribbons for) but straw ones are much easier to find.

These aren't the best quality but are cheap as hell:

So, a friend and I have a small knitting bussiness, and were looking into knitting more lolitable things (both of us admire lolita, but haven't really gotten into it).
What are some knit items you guys would buy or wear? We've been looking at making faux animal stoles and cute lacy socks, but most of the "lolita" patterns we've been finding are rather ita looking, or are shawls and stuff that I don't seem to see in many coords.

Seconding this, though, in the costume shop I work in, we use straight up, but very cheap, vodka (labeled costume spray, so newbies don't get the wrong idea). It's scentless (unless you add that essential oil, which I've never tried but sounds amazing), and does a fantastic job killing any smell causing or fabric deteriorating bacterial.

And berets maybe?
TBH I don't really see knitted lacy socks taking off. Unless you seriously underprice yourself you probably won't be able to compete with all the lace socks and tights that are already out there. Lolita-specific boleros etc. are a much more niche market and people will be more likely to seek out handmade things.
