Ok. I will admit that one of the things that I first sold in my etsy shop was really ita, And it sold very quickly actually. But I got better. Much better. Some days I wonder if I should just sell ita stuff anyway, because it's cheaper, less time consuming, and some people don't know better, but I am not that evil.

Honestly, I bought a fawn fur collar from them last year and there was a hell of a lot less lace on what I got compared to the stock image. The stock image had nice gathered ruffle lace, mine had like 3 small gathers along a mostly flat lace edging. Also the velvet ribbon that came on it was really cheap. I would not buy from them if someone gave me the money to.

These are by SakuraFairy and are the only ones I can say I like a fair amount. They need more ruffle, but overall look amazing in comparison to the rest. Her actual shop is much nicer and she has a lot of quite beautiful things in it! If anyone has a review, it'd be greatly appreciated. Some of her materials look fairly cheap, but particularly her jewelry is pretty beautiful.

On your first brand launch nobody is going to be able to tell what the quality is until they have the dress in their hands, so you'll find resistance pretty high. Not a lot of people are going to take your word (or your cronies' words, assuming you rope some friends into doing promo for you) that your clothes are "burando quality".

You should also take note that although the word "quality" is tossed around a lot, with regards to "burando quality", the quality that lolitas like in their burando comes from things like fabric and trim quality, but also from what the other anon says -- the design, the style, the beauty of the print, not falling apart after the first wear, detailing, custom motifs, full lining, and possibly pockets (idk, Haenuli just announced Stained Glass has pockets, Lief has done it before and lolitas like AP dresses with pockets). These aren't necessarily "quality" things, but make a lot of difference in how much people money people are willing to pay.

This is a hard question because, technically the big brands, AP, Baby, IW, don't use the most spectacular material or have outstanding construction. They sell because of history and having good design and art behind them as well as catering to customers with international stores, tea parties and booths at international conventions.

So those are the things that you're really paying for in a brand. Things you can't really duplicate as an indie brand.

So really if I'm paying brand prices for indie I'm being really interested by a good design and art. I'd expect the sewing to be better since the price isn't including overhead like the brands do.

You could also go entirely high quality advanced sewing like 4 O'clock and sell things for twice or three times the price of brand.
