They're a little too high energy for autistic kids, I think. They're super sweet but they're hard to train sometimes, and they tend to be jumpy. Not good with an autistoc kid who could get freaked by it.

Maybe consider adopting an older boxer who's calmed down a bit/is already trained? Might be a mix, but check out local shelters and stuff.

If he's not the kind of kid who would get freaked out by the dog jumping around, I think you'd be fine, but I don't think boxers are good for first time dog owners either.

Maybe try taking him to a local shelter, explaining your situation, and seeing if they'll let him just play with some of the dogs? See how he fares.

Also I think that's more a matter of the cat being good with kids, not the kid being good with cats. I wouldn't take any animals in wihtout introducing them first, see how they interact, etc. General rule, even for those adopting an animal just for themselves, You want to know the animal a little before you bring it home.

I can't stop laughing at the cute expressions.

Kid is ok with dogs and cats. He seems to like animals in general so I wanted to get him a pet. I'm really tempted to adopt one of the litter at my uncle's (not gf's) house because I'm afraid she's just going to dump them at the shelter because she has 11 cats but I want to get a dog in the future. I wasn't sure what kind though would be good with a child with autistic.

Outside of my grandmum's dog I never personally owned one. She was a Pit/Rot mix and was a real sweet heart (I don't want to explain what happen to her; pisses me off to this day with my family.)

I did have a cat though and know how to raise/train a pet and even watched for mentioned old as hell 16+ cats.

Definitely try to expose him to some energetic dogs - it might all work out if he's okay with them. But, training a dog is a lot different than raising a cat.

Also taking care of old cats isn't all that different from taking care of any other cat, really. Cats don't get super frail until right before they die typically. My 15 year old boy is the same as my 3 year old girl is the same as my 8 year old fucking cow.
