Tips for dressing better, makeup tips, places to shop besides taobao, cute outfits, etc. Would like to see less lolita and more general kawaiiness.

I really want some punyus pieces but they don't ship outside of Japan, and I have no idea how to go about SS stuff. I did just get a plumprimo dress that I absolutely adore, I wore it for valentines!

These might be some totally random tips but I feel like hygiene is a pretty important factor in looking good in jfashion, and you have to be especially on top of it when you're chubbier.
-Take extra good care of your skin. It's being stretched and stressed.
-Oxy pads are really great to get rid of and prevent those painful pimples that we fattychans get. Use two-three over particularly acne-prone areas such as armpits, where your thighs touch, etc.
- Pluck pluck pluck! Facial/body hair isn't a terrible thing but it does stand out more on plus-size girls I've found. All over the place eyebrows are not flattering, either. Keep that shit in order.
-This is gross, but if you have folds or a tummy or whatever, even if it's just a fold that shows up when you sit down and slouch, put deodorant there! Any place that can trap warmth and moisture for any period of time will become a breeding ground for smelliness. Don't forget the underboob! Nothing improves upon a fattychan's appearance better than smelling good. Frankly I think this goes for anyone, though.
-Do a cool rinse at the end of your shower and be sure to dry off very thoroughly. Again, this has to do with the whole being smelly thing. Reduce heat and moisture.
-Use coconut oil, shea butter, or an anti-chafe product, and keep baby powder on you at all times to avoid the dreaded chub rub.
Also not hygiene related but still...
- Experiment in the mirror to find a flattering smile. It can be hard to not end up with a smushed face and tiny eyes when you have chubby cheeks and a big smile.

Many of us might be on a weight loss journey. There's nothing wrong with wanting to dress nicely and be a clean person in the mean time. Weight loss takes a while as does learning to dress yourself properly, you don't just poof from fat and ugly to skinny and well-dressed overnight.
Besides, wouldn't you rather have a bunch of non-smelly, at least somewhat attractive chubby chicks hanging around over fatty-chans who don't give a fuck about their greasy appearance?

This hardly ever works. It's not an encouragement, it's a gigantic symbol of guilt screaming at you every time you open your closet.
"Hey, look, you spent so much money on me and it's been two months and I still don't fit. Bet you regret slipping up on the extra beer when you were out with the girls last weekend, bet you regret adding bacon to your burger, bet you regret waking up late and not getting a proper workout in this morning."
Rather than being a source of encouragement, it bogs you down with a bunch of guilt. Not to mention, tastes change in the amount of time it takes to lose weight. You may end up hating that dress by the time you can fit it. It's better to have an ever-changing closet of clothes that fit you and you feel beautiful in, you feel a lot more happy and motivated that way.

Some of this advice is solid but there are exceptions.
>acne
I'd recommend finding out if it's caused by hormones/genetics or just poor skin hygiene before you invest in products. My mom is in her 50s and still has really bad cystic acne, I have a lighter condition but even if I take care of my skin and use product (re: prescription derm antibiotics + creams) there's always acne on my face. It's particularly bad right before my period.
Honestly I think it's better to just step up foundation game. Most people said I had great skin until I stopped routinely wearing makeup.

>putting deodorant underneath skin folds
Ehhhh...unless the folds are substantial and sweat a lot this probably isn't necessary. I'd say a little bit of baby powder and some perfume could go a long way. Deodorant smells are more noticeable, imo, and it would suck to have to constantly wash clothes because of deodorant marks/smells.

I was 13stone at the age of 12 and remained that weight for 15 years. I was always a UK12 / US8 though, so I think I must be super dense. Because of this I find it a bit easier just to measure my waist as then I can actually see how big I am.

I've gained weight in the last year though due to a lifestyle change (moving house, working in an office with very late night finishes).

I'm 5'7" with a 34" waist, have lost 1.5" since January, 4 more to go till I feel normal-sized again.

In saying that I found it's super important to throw away clothes that are too big for you because if nothing in your wardrobe fits you if you gain a couple of pounds you are way less likely to keep gaining weight, where as with old clothes you can keep wearing them and slip into old habits so for that reason it's best not to invest in cute clothes if you're at a size you don't want to stay at... just my opinion.

Typically, about 7 lbs = 1" of fat lost. Can be less or more depending on height. It can also vary based on where it's being lost from. I lose less in the boobs and more from my lower body (where I could use more fat, but whatever, body)

I lost 70lbs and went from a size 16/18 to a size 10/12. Or rather a 42" waist to a 32" waist, but I only lost 6" in the bust. But it can honestly vary between person, how they are shaped, where their body stores fat, overall body composition, etc.

Some of my general experiences as a chubby with hourglass shape.

>WEAR FITTING BRA
No other words needed.

>don't use the combo of OP's >>8127656 model.
In 99% of all outfits, a wider cut blouse with a high waisted skirt just makes your upper body look like a square and even more shapeless, especially if you have big boobs. It rarely looks good, at least in my opinion.
Not to mention that irl while wearing it the blouse will often get messed up/won't stay as nicely as on a picture. Go for something more formfitting, we all know we are fat anyway so no need for a failed attempt to hide it.

>don't wear oversized stuff
It rarely looks good. Don't.

>hair
Having nice hair is always a bonus, especially for plus size girls. Have a cute hairstyle, maybe let it grow out, and learn how to style it properly. Longer or more vouminous hair will balance out your body mass, flatter your face and in general will look nice.

>wear thights
Seriously. Even thin girls have cellulite, strechmarks and whatever, but we often have it worse. Thights are your friends. Also, go for solid coloured ones; prints won't look good. Especially since they usually stretch awkwardly.

>wear cute dresses and skirts
Not only are you wearing something cute, but nice dresses often flatter fat/chubby girls more than pants. There are enough images in this thread.
Also wearing something cute will increase your confidence a lot, trust me! Just because you are plus sized doesn't mean you don't deserve kawaii shit.

>WEAR A FITTING BRA
I can only repeat it.

A 17.5 BMI can be healthy. Being near the lower boundary of normal body weight doesn't mean anorexia if you have no problems with nutrition.
If you want to talk about healthy, a BMI just can't give you the full picture, but slightly lower than average tends to mean that you have less useless weight to lug around. A healthy body can do things like run a mile without getting winded, go up six flights of stairs without knees exploding and managing at least one pull-up. A person with a BMI of 18 is more likely to do these things than an overweight one.

Yeah this surprises me.. where's the average/tall and fat girls at? Being fat is not a short-person-only thing.

Plumprimo is adorable but it's barely gonna cover my ass - which is enormous anyway so most dresses hitch up shorter than they should. I've a feeling that it's actually not that useful for most people in the west. Torrid and Asos both have great plus-size sections which actually take into account both your height and the fact that skirts always run shorter on fat girls. They lack the cute pastel je ne sais quoi of jfash, but at least their clothing fits.

That would be awesome! I understand that life happens so don't stress yourself over it! Mostly I just want more pastel colored stuff, I can make basic rectangle skirts and bloomer shorts, but I really want cute but comfy and casual shoes and dresses and tops and stuff for summer, since it will be closer to that season once the stuff gets to me. I feel bad asking for things on there so I never do, because it seems like you get a lot of requests for the same stuff over and over again and I'm sure it gets annoying and I don't want to be that person. But yes, if you find yourself with the time, it would be wonderful, but no hurry!

>>8130036
Some girls just carry their weight differently. I'm not landwhale size and don't deal with the folds thing and I'm lucky enough to not grow a lot of hair but I have issues with those big pimples, thigh chafing, and my cheeks squishing my eyes when I smile.

>>8130779
The issue I have with Torrid's clothes is that they're all trying to hard to be edgy-cool-sexy whatever. There's nothing really modest and girly in nice, soft colors. It doesn't have to be super kawaii pastel, I just don't have any interest a bunch of bodycon dresses and jewel-toned leopard and geometric prints and fugly ass lace.
Seriously, what is it with western mall clothes and cheap lace? Even when they print stuff, like the makeup bags at VS, they print on raschel-style lace. Like, why? It was agonizing shopping with my mother and sister during Christmas because they kept coming to me with lace stuff asking if I liked it and they finally got fed up with me turning things down and had me spend the entirety of dinner that night explaining the virtues of proper lace.
Sorry for that rant, it felt nice to get it out.

I have wide shoulders and big boobs as well. These aren't going away.

- Work on your appearance, makeup and overall presentation. If weight loss is a goal for you and you feel it'll make you more confident, go for it.
- Find something that suits you. It may be a particular cut, color, or style that works out best. I use a lot of chiffon boleros and blouses as they look less bulky than cotton. You may find skirts work out best, or you might like Jsks better. OPs are usually a nope for broad shoulders and big busts because the waistline rides up. If you do have an OP in mind, I'd toss a cute flowy bolero over it to add some visual length.

- Work on your posing and expressions in photos that suit you. Selfies and autotimers are your friends here.

- Shoes. I find I look dumpy as hell sometimes in tea parties but I wear them a lot for comfort and ease. So I make sure to pose with them in a way that elongates my legs in photos rather than looking like a standing duck.

- Hair/wigs: Go for elegant curls or big loose waves. I find that longer styles can visually narrow a wider upper body so it's less apparent in photos. If you go big in the headwear you want to go big in the hair to balance it out.

Are you retarded?

Even in the bible fat women are revered as beautiful as being bigger and pale was a sign of wealth.

Song of Solomon/Song of Songs:
Chapter 7, verse 2:
Your navel is like a round goblet
Which never lacks mixed wine;
Your belly is like a heap of wheat
Fenced about with lilies.

Take a look at the folds and rolls of the girls here in Ruben's "The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus".

God, skinny people will argue anything to defend how they're the perfect gold standard. How pathetic.

But hey, it's okay. While you were dieting and reading, fat chicks like me were actually reading history books. We know what we're fucking talking about.

So.....?

Also, since I'm not a faggot, I'll put this back on topic: What hairstyles do you guys recommend for people with round/chubby faces?
I have very thin hair (lots of split ends, a weird wave to the hair, shoulder length, widow's peak) and usually I part it slightly to the side of my peak. Lately though I've been getting bored with the color (it's a mousey light brunette with red/blone highlights) and people say they liked my hair better when I dyed it blonde.
I haven't done shit to my hair in years and I'm not quite sure what's fashionable now.

Also I've been thinking about getting side swept bangs just for some general cuteness. I can't pull off straight cut so I won't even go there.
Pic related is what I had in mind as far as bangs go. Thoughts? Should people with thin hair and wide jaws avoid bangs altogether? Idk.

>> No.8163226

>>8163198
When I last bleached my hair, I cut it just below my chin, and did bangs cut straight across, which quickly grew out into swoopy, side-swept bangs, both of which I found to be flattering. If you go for straight-across bangs, be sure to have it taper down on the sides and frame your face nicely. Also, shoot to get some layers around eye level, adding volume up top will balance out a wide jaw/ chubby cheeks. Sorry for my non-technical way of talking about hair, I'm not a professional, just adding what I've learned.

170 is still overweight for your height, so when you reach your goal you might want to definitely re-evaluate.
