So, do lolita comms ever do Easter egg hunts? Because that seems like it would be the cutest god damn thing in the world. Like, a garden party with cookies and lemonade and then an egg hunt. I wonder if those plastic eggs can be decoden'd...

seeing a bunch of people buying happy garden for easter has made me now want to obtain a bunny dress for next year. would like one that I wouldn't have to only wear on easter, though I by pastel vomit I was wondering if there were any other prints that seemed so strongly easter themed like happy garden. looks like something off the packaging of a chocolate bunny.

Maybe cheap is not the right word for it. Plain? There's just a lot of very solid brown fabric with not much else on them, even that bow is really plain and simple. Considering this will be sitting on top of rather richly embellished dresses it's going to look like a lazy last-minute home made accessory.

At least a little lace around the ears, a little topstitching so the ears don't look so empty, and putting them on a thinner headband so that I can work my other hair accessories around it, would be a vast improvement over this headdress. I was going to try and get my hands on chocolate fabric to make it from as well, though that might be difficult.

Also Slav, but my country has kind of adapted over the years, and you get chocolate now. smarties are popular to give away for some reason.

>tfw tradition is for girls to get whipped with willow branches and get doused in cold water
>tfw when the modern version of this is getting doused in perfume instead
>tfw when boys get to go door to door and do this to relatives and acquaintances and get chocolate and money and girls don't

I don't miss this tradition. What I do miss is all the traditionally decorated eggs. They used to give those away but now it's switched to money and chocolate. Not that I live there any longer to see it. But the museum always had lots of beautiful eggs. Eggs painted with oil paints; beeswax; glued with tiny pieces of straw; dipped in plant dyes, tie dyed or otherwise; covered in complicated crochet, including wire crochet; and more recently, drilled with tiny drills until they resemble delicate lace. And all the derpy cute eggs courtesy of every elementary school in town.

Anyway, thanks for reading my blog. My comm has a meetup tomorrow and I'll be wearing Meta's Fancy Egg in green.

Nah if anything there'd be a /pol/rare saying that 'slavshits are white niggers' or something.

In any case, go ahead and give it a whirl! You have my official Slav seal of approval and a guarantee that Lord Putin won't smite you if you try.
Here are some from my country, this is done using a wax pen or stick and then dipped into a pot of water with diluted dye.
We also used to pick different herbs, flowers and leaves from the field, press them into the egg, wrap it in a piece of women's hosiery and tie it securely then put into the pot of boiling dye water as with the former method. That way the egg boils (so you can eat it), and after you take off the stocking and toss away the plants you're left with an interesting pattern on the egg.

We also have 'egg-knocking battles', you try to break the opponent's egg with yours and whoever wins gets the other's egg. You usually ask a friend or family member if they 'want to knock', but in our language that is also a slang for intercourse SO...
Also a designated red egg is kept safe and named the 'guardian of the house'. You're supposed to take care of it until next Easter, but they tend to get smelly a bit. It's usually decorated with some form of 'Hristos Voskrese' ('Christ has risen') written on it, or just 'HVVV' (it's also a greeting on Easter, 'Hristos Voskrese' and the reply 'Vaistinu Voskrese' ('So he has' to translate it bluntly).
Anyway I'll go away now, sorry for the blogpost.

I remember doing something similar to your pic as a kid using a white crayon. Whoever made those must be seriously experienced to be able to draw such perfect designs when you can barely see what's happening as you draw.

I've seen the herbs/plants method done before, but with onion peels instead of dye. Pic related. Amazing how simple it is to get such beautiful eggs. When I was in elementary school a lady came to the museum to do a presentation on them. Apparently it took her a lot of practice before she was able to do any basic patterns. Also she said that the sound of the dentist's drill gave her husband toothache (a Pavlovian response of sorts? lol).

This thread is so cute, I've enjoyed all of your adorable egg photos and stories!

I don't have any of my own, but last week I read in the paper about a woman who has been holding onto a sugar egg (royal icing? Old british christian thing) for 60 years, her sister made it for her and it has a tiny scene painted inside. (pic not the same egg, but similar idea)
I think that's very cute. I really like the idea of doing this sort of thing when I'm an old lady.

Those are really cute. I'm not very crafty - how do you get them to hang like that?

Oh man, that's cute.
I love sugar eggs, but this year all the stores in my town didn't have much of a variation from chocolate eggs. Even filled eggs were hard to find.

>No sugar eggs
>No marshmallow filled
Couldn't bring myself to even put on bunny ears yesterday.

it was delicious and I had no regrets

I ordered some flower end bead things off ebay, got some embroidery thread, threaded the string through the hole, and glued end bead to the egg. It's green and red thread to match christmas

Thank you anons

I love this dress! I'll probably never be able to find one.

I wear the watch in OP's pic all spring. It's about the only time I wear pastel stuff with no black.

Nah, anon, that's how I felt at first, but I managed to find it in my preferred colourway, brand new in with tags on y-japan. Check lacemarket, yahoo auctions, mbok and sites like Closet Child, it will pop up eventually.

Well actually. Speaking of it popping up eventually, dunno if your heart is set on the pink, but someone is selling the jsk in green on Lacemarket.

Meh. Not a terrible coord in my opinion, but this definitely would've looked better if she wore some kind of legwear, and a veil that wasn't fricking white. The overall idea is nice though, and I'm jealous that she has this print because I want it so badly.
