I posted the first part of this a while ago but never finished so here we go

I have a good friend I do almost everything with (related to our mutual hobbies), and whenever he says he got tickets for somewhere it always means he's got tickets for me too but he never directly says it.

Different anon, but that usually doesn't work with someone in your friend circle because they'll inevitably see that you went to the con once you start posting photos/talking about it, and then be upset that you basically kept it a secret from them. Which you did.

Telling them super last minute and not offering a ride/hotel space is the most diplomatic way to avoid a scene. Anon could have gone one step further and just told them where they'd be at x time and then didn't answer texts instead of making an effort to meet up, but now they know.

God, a few years back at a con I was sitting by myself in an empty sitting area, when some dude and his grandma came and sat near me. The guy was clearly a grown ass man and was yelling at his grandma for not having enough money and taking too long to drive them up there. The old lady was pissed and arguing back, calling him an ungrateful shit and threatening to take him back home. They were in a really loud heated argument and it was awkward as fuck to witness lmao

I told this story before, but I once attended a con with a mask I made. It was something I spent countless hours on, and really tried my best to make it as accurate as possible. Two guys came up to me and wanted to try it on, and when I said no, trying to explain that I worked really hard on this prop and didn't want to risk it getting broken, one of them tried to rip it out of my hands! I told them to stop or I would call security and they did, not without shouting really rude things about me as they walked away. It was a smaller con, so I kept running into them and they would say passive aggressive things about me to each other within earshot. That experience ruined cons for me for a long time.

I agree with you 200%. I had a cosplay once where it was basically a thong (Yes, I know, judge away) and I completely expected people to be taking creeper shots. I even made the mistake of turning my back to the crowd during a photoshoot/gathering, but I didn't think it was a big deal. But then someone posted one of those photos to a relatively popular "news" page and then some people got really butthurt and started white-knighting all over the place. This was just a bad experience for me, but I guess my friend had fun. We were friends from school at 16 at the time and it was my second con and her first. She seemed pretty chill at school and she somehow got us a nice hotel room without parent supervision (her stepmom just signed us in and told us to not get into trouble and just left?) but I was still stoked because my mom "wasn't that cool". I was a shitty closet madoka and she wore some faux goth lolita thing with lots of leg and cleavage and fishnets? It was pretty cringe but I thought it was going to be a good time. My friend is pretty attractive so she's getting hit on left and right, but I start getting nervous because 1) no parent supervision 2) I'm a 5 ft asian girl I literally cannot protect my friend from some of these guys. She runs around and glomps strangers and it's getting really hard to keep track of her. THEN, she wanted to go the rave with a guy she met. Spent two hours trying to avoid heavy bodily contact with the people around me and keep an eye on her and this guy. Repeat for day two and three. I have not gone to a con with her since.

I'm pretty respectful in general as girls are wanting to play a character the fact that it may be skimpy could be incidental if they identify with the shows message or personality.

That said compare it to say girl youtube channels that get offended if some dumbass comment makes a boob reference. Should it be there? No youtube comments are shit and retarded, but when you use boobs to get views its like complaining you get wet in the rain.

And it really remains that girls don't get offended as often by hot guys doing it, but tits/legs/etc are not smart weapons with tactical targeting they hit everything in the area. It's been multiple occasions. At least 10 in the past 3 years. I really go to a convention to social network, meet people, expand friend circles, and gain new skills.

It's plausible if it were once or twice.

And no, when I get the hand or laughed at, I just go away. I take it as a sign they don't want to be interacted with, so I don't push the issue and give them the space they want. I'm not going to sit and wait until I see them approached by someone else. That's creepy.

The number of times it has happens removes any plausible ability to deny, with several friends of mine having it happen to them as well.
