Thanks, I'm actually having trouble though trying to finish a final part. The phone that he uses. It looks like this. From what I know it's only made in Japan and for a very short time. As a member of IRT (those black vest people who work the con) I suggest you keep it quiet and stay in your room if you get alcohol. There is a Rosemont police presence, and it's not a good idea for anyone to be wandering around drunk. The amount of ambulance calls we need to make is always too many due to alcohol and drugs. The rave line is way more fun to be in than the actual rave. Everyone just high fiving each other and building hype. Then you get in the rave and it's underwhelming.

Last year in the rave line, people were giving out high fives and I had the fist bump out. Then I'd switch between the two just to fuck with people. Good times.

I can't help but raise an eyebrow sometimes in the thread when I see posts basically saying you need to be drunk/high to really enjoy Acen and tolerate what's going on.

The con drunks are generally annoying and more obnoxious than the screaming weebs. Will never forget the red hot embarrassment of my first Acen and walking around with guys screaming CARD GAMES ON MOTERCYCLES but I'd take that over slurred talking, stumbling and vomiting everywhere.

I'm so excited i haven't been to any convention in 4 years. Both of my cosplays are almost finished and they actually look good (even though I haven't sewn anything in 5 years)

I just have no idea what to go to. I'm going to Acen Prom with some friends but I don't really know what else is a "must see". Most of my friends just hang around the game room but that's not really my style.

There aren't any huge must sees. It depends on what's going on each year. The Big Hentaiarmageddons or Anime Hell type stuff is usually around if you are into that. Oregon Trail has a huge turn out every year and a lot of people like that for Late-night fun for 1 night. If you are looking for panels or industry things, the Guidebook is up so anything you are interested in you'd want to go to obviously. I don't think we know all the signings yet either. Not too many suggestions, if you are going to Acen Prom, you could check out the Rave.

A lot of congoers aren't really comfortable going out and raging in the normal world. ACen's their chance to drink and party like morons. I can't fault people for treating the con as an excuse to get peaceably smashed.

It seems the center of socializing is the Hyatt lobby. Plenty of space, people checking in and going to and from panels, and generally a lot going on. I even took a selfie with Spoony by pure chance.

Thursday is pretty dead until check in but you'll still see people bringing in equipment for their panels or setting up.

That, or they fucking admit to it the instant the cop opens their mouth. Nothing terribly scary about it; they just look at your license, shrug and wish you a good night...

... except every single fucking one I've ever seen or heard of, they AT LEAST HAVE A FUCKING EXCUSE. Something simple, "tail-light out," or "pulled into the wrong lane" or "discombobulating in a reverse-polarity zone" or SOMETHING. If a cop pulled you over without even bothering to have an excuse for why in my town, there'd be some fucking noise over it the day after.

So, this is a strange request here of all places but do any of you girls (or guys I guess) going to Acen able to cut real hair?

The tattered remains of my last hime-cut (which was ages ago) is really looking bad, and I am too worried about ruining my hair for the convention to do it myself. The girl I was going to book before flying out was busy for two weeks in advance, and I don't know/trust anyone in Chicago to touch it as I have awful experience with America trained stylists.

I really just need my bangs, side locks, and ends trimmed into place, sort of like the girl in this image. I would easily pay for your time, $20 or whatever you think is fair. No shampooing just a quickie cut.

I am already considering going to the meetups if you guys settle on one. If you need a suggestion there is a Mitsuwa/Kinokuniya not incredibly far NW of the convention center. It has lots of Japanese restaurants and cafes too.

I will be flying in a day early if that makes any difference to anyone. I'm off to bed but I will check back occasionally if anyone's interested in either thingy.

Do pincurls on your own hair. Sew wig clips on. That will prevent it from falling off. On any larger/heavier wigs you'll always want to use wig clips. Also, use the clips in the back to decrease the size of the wig itself. Pic related for those clips.

Any early gulls have any plans for Thursday after will-call? I was going to head over before they open at 4PM to pick up my badge and then take a cab (willing to split) to Mitsuwa to stock up on weeb-fuel for my bento to get me through the weekend. If anyone was interested in meeting up either way on Thursday just say so.

Unrelated but I thought I would drop a tip about the Metra train system to downtown Chicago havinh a super-cheap weekend pass for $8 unlimited round-trips Sat and Sun for non-con adventuring. I'm probably going to buy it so I can see a little more of the city.

Pretty sure the closest path from the con would be Rosemont Station to Union Station.

It's got to be something with either a shuttle to the convention center or within walking distance of the convention. I can't take my company car out of the state for non-business reasons, and I'm only 24 and therefore not eligible to rent a car. The roommate I've got is driving us there, but will be in Chicago for business Friday and Saturday meaning I can't get back to the hotel by car then and I'd rather not be a complete slob and sleep at the convention Friday night. Tried that once when I was 16, never again. I might just be SOL, but it was worth a shot.

Well, I have no idea what the Thursday willcall line will be like. I will probably show up at 3.30 just in case and head to Mitsuwa right after. I have a feeling I would recognize a flock of seagulls but who knows, will undoubtedly be full of con weebs as well.

I'm not ready. Nothing is ready. Even my gun, which keeps breaking at the slightest nudge, keeps breaking. Considering breaking character to put bandages (or just strips of cloth covered with powder make up to make it look dirty) on it because I don't think it can take any more glue without looking really messy.

Haha I feel that... doesn't help that one of my comissiones pulled a bait and switch with the costume she wanted me to do (easy => difficult) and it messed up my entire schedule. I have the fabric for everything and some of the cosplay is patterned/cut out, and the wig is 75% done...I don't know, it depends on when I finish my last commission tomorrow. I've only got bias tape and closures to do but that shit can take forever unexpectedly. Finishing in the hotel room is not an option for me, the shoot for the costume's on Friday. Just...ugh, it's basically pajamas with extra topstitching so I'd feel terrible if I didn't get it done.
