Anyone recommend a good fabric for a Vault Suit? I've seen the older ones made of Lycra or some of denim. But it can be tricky to sew.

Also has anyone ever cosplayed Liberty Prime. Or Three Dog?

I am using a twill myself. I have seen others use denim but not sure if I like it personally. Just waiting for E3 and some more screenshots of from Fallout 4 before deciding if I wanna start on a 111 suit or 13 PAX Prime. The 111 suits from the teaser trailer has so many seams on the arms and legs that I don't wanna start it and then mess up because of a lack of decent references.

The vault suits are supposedly leather with polyester detailing in game, I'd love to make one true to the lore but i have zero skill when it comes to fabrics.

I know, I'm hoping that all the seperate outer skin parts have their own file set. Looking at the art and footage released so far, the endo skeleton of the suit will be a bitch to make though if all the parts are designed to be attached to it

Started patterning my 111 suit for Pax prime. Damn the devs for those textured front and side panels. I see a lot of ironing and pattern pieces in my future.

I picked up a Kwik sew pattern for a ladies jumpsuit. It's very loose in the front so I think it could be a good base to practice with.

The sheer number of seams in it it actually a little intimidating to me. But I can at least throw in some princess seams to shape it.

You might be right. Hard to tell because the graphics took a back seat to mechanics. But the suit does have a very matte look.

I feel like full leather would be very warm though. Especially since everyone in a vault is put to work young. Maybe some fabric panels or eyelets for ventilation like I've seen on some sportswear.

It would be cheaper and easier to sew your own. If you don't want to sew one, you may be able to find something in a thrift store. Check both the men's and women's coats. It doesn't matter that much what the original sex it was intended for because you're just going to pull the buttons off and weather it a bit anyway.

Didn't even realise I'd dropped my pic a couple posts ago. I've been putting off a Vault Dweller cosplay for ages because I lacked the skills, I think I'm finally decent enough to make a suit and I've a bud who can loan me a pip and gun if I like.

I'm still so new to drafting patterns though. I tend to alter bought patterns, but everything I've found online that looks similar to this is way to small. Is is worth looking for a jumpsuit pattern, or should I try merging a blouse and pants?

Worst case I'll pick the thing apart to use for a full suit pattern anyway.

I could tie them to the underside of my truck and drive through the desert, or maybe toss them in a bag with rocks?

Skyrim costumes are so easy to make now. There are patterns and tutorials all over the Internet anon. Just google the armor set you like and then pattern or build and you can find step by step walkthroughs.

Stretch twill. Im not really too worried about being 100% accurate with fabric. (Sometimes devs are kinda clueless and say a garment is made out of a fabric that really wouldn't work irl so I'm not going to worry about it.) I'm more concerned with getting all the seams and piping etc. and I know the twill will get me the closest to the desired look I want to achieve..
