ITT: Bloodbath General

Discuss ridiculously expensive dresses, share battle royale stories, predict what pieces will reach that status, cry about how you lost your sixth auction for Puppet Circus, whatever is relevant.

That red 1001 Nights is probably going to be the next Bride of Death. I'm sad I couldn't get it, though I probably wouldn't have got the red anyways.

i got the blue. i hope the blue is just as popular as the red

>> No.8522683

I think the blue was my favorite colorway, but from what I heard the real bloodbath was for the red. Either way, they're all great, but I couldn't see myself looking too good in it. I'm kinda excited to watch what secondhand sales on it will be, just for the demonstration of how the lolita market works.

I'm surprised the red was the most popular, I thought the lavender and blue were so much prettier. Oh well, it just means they'll be the cheaper ones secondhand.

I managed to get into the second round for the Red jsk (late oct/early nov), because red looks much better against my skin tone. I would've like the blue but I'm more of a navy fan.

>> No.8522738

there wasn't even a bloodbath for bride of death. it was going for really cheap on mbok right after the release too. then the price just skyrocketed and it became crazy expensive.

>> No.8522762

>>8522738
The bloodbath doesn't just refer to the initial sale, I actually see it more in reference to auctions. This is typical of AatP prints, though, the same thing happened with Gloria. That shit was less than retail for like a year after it came out. If there's one thing I've learned in lolita, it's that you can't determine what a dress's resale value is going to be just based on it's initial release.

Same with Lost Paradise; no one wanted it, and then all of a sudden that OP went up on auction and it went through the roof. I wonder what the next ones to come up will sell for.

>> No.8522776

>>8522762
I always thought bloodbath was usually the rush and panic to get new releases like when AP releases a new print but there's not enough to go around so people are going wild calling their SS's and scalpers having the time of their lives selling things for $100-200 extra or even double retail.

Bloodbath is a term used to describe the ridiculous competition for an especially sought after piece. This applies to what you describe as well as battle to the death auctions, where a dress will be listed at a low price then end up at a grand by the end. It also refers to when something sells out in literally minutes or there's so many people trying to get the same item that the severs on a site crash and many don't end up with one. Basically any time shit gets real over a dress can be called a bloodbath.

That's one of my dream dresses in black/red. So fucking gorgeous.

Is it me or is AatP becoming ridiculously popular this past year or two? They never used to have nearly as many $800+ pieces, now they're dominating the list of shit with highest resale value. They have more things that go for a grand than AP now.

i think it's because the trend has shifted from OTT Sweet to OTT Classic. even gothic coords feature a big classic influence, including AatP prints that aren't quite goth in terms of cut and style (just motif/color).>>8522825

It's so beautiful! I am a big fan of Nakamura Asumiko as well so that plays into it for sure.

Also yes I have noticed this trend as well though I am not particularly sure why? Perhaps the general fashion is swaying away from OTT sweet prints now?

Also, AatP fans tend to be extremely die hard about specific prints more-so than fans of other brands, and are generally older than AP ones and can spend more money on their grails.

Around $450 to $500 (the JSK) last I looked, but that's if you can even find it. It might be going for even more than that based off of what >>8522703 said.

And it gets snapped up fast if it gets put up for sale. I see this print doing nothing but becoming more and more expensive as the years will pass.

How can you predict when things like this happen? Sometimes I think that a dress won't be too popular secondhand because it's release was meh, but once it hits the market it's price explodes.

>> No.8526322

>>8522695
Yeah, I thought this too. But I'm not holding my breath on the prices being sane, from what I'm hearing.

What was the cut popularity order?

>>8522825
I think AATP has always been this way for various pieces, it's just that secondhand prices for popular pieces in general have skyrocketed exponentially in the past ~2-3 years.
