So Sweden has it's first Lolita convention ever, BTSSB is there, Misako is going to be there, a Kawaii ambassador shall be picked and so far the weather report says it will not rain.

Any expectations and/or fears?

This was a experience and hopefully it can only be better next time.

The tickets were WAY overpriced if you consider that it was held in a fucking youth house or some shit. There was no water for the attendants, it was extremely hot inside, the size of the venue was like a small school gym hall or even smaller. The vendors hardly sold anything. Why didn't they just advertise it as a local comm event? Maybe then it would have been okay for Swedish lolitas but now they advertised it as a big event so foreign lolitas came, spent shitloads of money for an event which was so badly organized that I have never ever seen like that.
The tea party was okayish, the venue was cool so it wasn't so hot, food was okay. Once again there was no water in the tables. The raffle was just a disaster.

I wish the people here talking shit would get their bows out of their asses and stop being so fucking selfish. Sweden finally got a big event, and nearly every time a first event happens it won't be perfect. All of you lolitas talking bad shit are so spoiled rotten and fail to even see the larger picture. This event was a not for profit event and the people running it were doing it on their precious free time while you sit on your ass and judge their every move like you know how easy it is. They didn't get paid for this. They still devoted countless hours of their time to make it work and they worked hard.
I would say this event wasn't as bad as La vie en Rose in Paris and I have been to many lolita events in my life, this one was pretty average. There were a lot of things they corrected that other events lacked, but of course they made some mistakes as well.

In other words, people complain everywhere and about everything. People try to do something good and only get shit for it. These people aren't professionals, they were doing the community a favor yet still some in the community just don't appreciate the effort.

The problem of this event was that they simply tried to make it too big for the first time. Taking such a big brand and a model as expensive as Misako is basically a disaster waiting to happen. Swedish community is clearly not large enough to support an event this big, well event that tries to be this big, so it was essential to get foreigners to attend especially vendors. Unfortunately the end result was basically something good enough for a small local event, not a big international event so I am doubtful any foreigners would want to attend ever again. And I don't really think baby staff were as happy they said they were, at least during the day they didn't seem so pleased.
Anyway if they are planning to make another event they should really go back to the basics and first try to held a small community event with a small or even without a guest of honor.
A local event with shopping opportunity, some program and opportunity for mingling with new people would be nice enough.

Lol sorry but what more does Gbg have to offer in terms of a decent venue? What were you expecting? Svenska Mässan? I'd really like to hear some decent suggestions for venues that wouldn't run you red up the ass after you've said this. Criticism is fine but you're lacking the constructive part. I personally wasn't involved, but I was there, and I know how much work goes into things like this, and Sweden isn't exactly known for being cost-friendly either. I think they did a decent job with what they had.

Whoever said they should have an event in sthlm, that's not a bad idea. You just need someone willing to organize it.

To whoever dropped the comment about foreign vendors, um, have you seen the local selection? Thin pickins.

Personally, I think that the ones complaining should maybe try and see if they can organize something better. I wouldn't want to organize one, so I am glad that someone else did, though I would volunteer in the future. They did what they could with a very small community and limited resources. There are a lot of constructive comments, so who will take all this and make the next one happen?

Obviously there are some things that could have been improved, ex, seating, and fresh air, but I asked about it and someone said the ventilation broke and the people who own the venue weren't available to fix it, so that's out of the organizer's control. Not much one can do in that case, though it was a bit uncomfortable, especially when you have so much clothing on.

To top it off, what happened to the idea of "community"? I thought everyone who attended looked lovely and had lovely personalities, but a lot of people on here are acting very negative toward one another in a community which I thought would be very accepting. Come on, we're all in this together. So maybe this was more of a "pilot episode". Who cares, because as a group we can all make it better if there's ever another one. Who's got their hands up to volunteer?

If one is not familiar of Göteborg's selections of venues is it wrong to be disappointed when the place ends up being like this? As far as I know not everybody's living there. Oh well now people know that it isn't even smart to come to Sweden if you want to have a lolita event which is actually worth the money. People can save their money in the future if the quality of Swedish events is this. Apparently local people are very happy about this kind of quality. Would have been nice to know this in advance.
And yes, there are people who are doing events better than this, maybe you are not aware of that hon ;).

This is so ridiculous. You are butthurt when people who travel from far away are saying that the venue was bad and comment that "what were you expecting" ummm well if you ADVERTISE the event in international groups then how the fuck people would know what kind of venues there are in Sweden. If the ticket would have been like 200sek or something, maybe this thing would be less of a big deal. Get off your little bubble.

Sorry, had no idea that the randomanonjpgwhatever I was responding to was from somewhere else. -hands in the air- Gbg is kind of shit in general, and there's only so much a person can do when handed a steaming pile of it. I guess the organizer tried to throw pretty things at it and call it a bouquet.

>>8567009
I have no idea who/what/where stuff was advertised, so really, calm your tits. I'm actually not the person to jump on. Not the droid you're looking for. Etc etc. Complain to someone else about ticket price kthx. I also think it said it was a youth house on the event page? So uh, it was expected (speaking of bubbles). So do yourself a favor and get out of yours and research a bit before laying down cash and complaining to some randomanon like me on 4chan.

If the time comes when logic ceases to escape you, feel free to respond.

Frillfest mentioned at Lolita Updates
https://www.facebook(dot)(space) com/groups/lolitaupdates/(space) search/?query=frillfest

There are no clear pictures from the venue. Or info how big it is. Or any other info in general. Why I'm complaining to you is because you took a position yourself, where you are complaining about the opposite view of the situation.

When I purchased the tickets, there was hardly any info about the event itself. I wanted to go there because of BtssB. They announced the venue after the tea party tickets had been sold out.

is it only worth it to attend official ap and btssb tea parties that also have fashion shows then?

From what it sounds like, honestly, it IS the organizers fault. It's the responsibility of the organizers for events and conventions that you have the means to actually host something like this. So many conventions (and I know this was just an event, not a con) fail because they don't know how to budget and get funding. A lot of organizers get too excited and want to just go ahead instead of taking like, a year for example, to get the right amount of funding and planning in. Also seems like the organizers were just delusional and overestimated their own abilities. How long was this planned in advance?

I don't know if she really threw a fit, but she was the only one not applauding when Anastasia won and clung onto her in the most obvious and embarrassing way. If you look at the video that one girl posted on FB of the nomination. She is indeed the only one not clapping.

Hey, I'm looking for an anon that might be following this topic. You wrote in this here and in another thread (that can't find it atm);

https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/cgl/thread/S8570393#p8571239

Do you have any way to confirm this? Like having friends that were with you that heard it as well or something? I'm not a white knight, but I don't want any baseless rumors to be spread in the comm no matter how people like her.

If she indeed has asbergers, then that kind of behavior is really typical. Reacting to failure in overly aggressive way I mean. The question is though: why is she doing so much stuff (organizing etc) if she clearly knows that she doesn't handle disappointment at all?

It doesn't bother me that she has aspergers. What bothers me is that she is just a rude person and doesn't apologize her behavior. Certain kind of behavior and the source of it can explain some kind of behavior. It however isn't a "get out of jail" card which you can wave and not apologize your behavior. If someone is being rude, disrespectful etc it feels like crap to the people who are the object of it. You still need to say sorry, no matter what's your illness/quality/disability.

>> No.8574878

Just saying that aggression is way less prevalent in girls with aspergers. It's mostly known to be an autism thing because there's an overwhelming amount of guys compared to girls that have autism.

This, right here. I have aspergers too, and while that might be a reason for odd behavior, it certainly isn't an excuse. I personally find it gross when people expect others to treat them like precious special porcelain snowflakes just because of this diagnosis - just grow up, adjust and adapt yourself to society, realize your limits and get on with your life. People who use it as an excuse disgust me, and are the reason I never tell anybody about my diagnosis, I don't want to be associated with that kind of bs.

No, that position is chosen by the Japanese government themselves and Misako just adopted the idea of Kawaii ambassador for Lolita fashion. You should do your research.
