Are Moitie's coats really as tiny as the listed measurements for most of them? Most of my wardrobe is Moitie, but I have a 88-90cm bust. It certainly won't fit into something that really has a 84-86cm bust. Maybe if I just lost extra weight...

Recently I've really gotten into qpot. I love some of their work and would love to drop money on this stuff. But I have a question before a spend $100+ on a necklace. What type of metals do they use? I dont have any allergies but since their stuff is so expensive I would hate to spend so much money and wear it a few times and tarnish.

Just so I am clear, you have ordered and paid for that and now you need to pay WW for the shipping? In that case, yes you do need to check all 3 out. The 3 amounts together should be the total you need to pay for shipping. Instead of sending you a shipping quote you have to buy the postage through their store and WW will just use the postage listings they have on their site to make up the final total. I once had to pay 1800yen for my shipping, so they linked me once to their 1000yen shipping age and 4 times to their 200yen page. Hope that made sense.

I never owned a coat from Moitie but the problem with coats is, is that you need to be at least 10cm under it's flat measurements.
So if this coats flat measurement was, lets say, 100cm but it would fit you perfectly.
But if it's flat measurement is 86cm you need a 76cm bust which is really small.
I often find Moitie's sizes confusing, I never know if the sizes they list are the min, max or flat measurement.
Other brands are much clearer on their sizing quite honestly.
Moitie also never list their max measurements while they have some shirred items that go much larger than they state.

Derp, just noticed that coat's man's size only.
I think most of my Moitie wool coats are actually about 92-96cm in the bust. I tried putting one on over another coat just to see if it'd fit and it actually did.

I tried the previous release of the coat you posted at the Laforet Kera shop last year and if the pattern hasn't changed, then I'd estimate the actual size would be about 92-94cm.

If you're buying through CDJapan you can return it if doesn't fit, as long as you don't mind paying return shipping.

I was pretty surprised since I'm pretty petite (I'm not delusional - 160cm/42kg is not much). I measured it and it's like 74cm in the widest upper part, what the fuck? If we're talking specifically about high-waisted onepieces, most of them have no shirring. In order to fit the dress, you have to fit the shoulder width, be one inch under the bust measurements, be less than 165cm tall. That's pretty specific, if you don't fit within that narrow range, chances are you're either swimming in the dress or can't even zip it up.

Once the dress fits, everything below the bust is just a huge petticoat. So your broad ribcage won't matter.

High-waisted jumperskirts with shirring are a whole different story, though. Each brand cuts their dresses differently, even just AP alone varies the cuts on their high-waisted dresses, for eg Misty Sky has shallower boob darts than Cosmic. There's probably a cut that works better on your ribcage than others, but unfortunately you'll have to hunt for information on that. In general I wouldn't recommend them for anyone above D or E cup boobs, that's all.

>> No.8607127

>>8607101
ribcages do matter as the dress hits the ribcage, under the bust, and your ribcage effects your bust measurement. I have a moderately 'large' chest but a small ribcage which keeps the measurement small, and empire dresses look great since they define my small ribcage/ underbust. I mean that's if she's talking about the ones with a high waisted cut, not the actual trapeze/ complete a-line with no definition.
But I agree with you for the most part.

>> No.8607198

>>8607127

I used the bust measurement because most brands will publish that but not the underbust measurement.

>your ribcage effects your bust measurement

That's the point. If your bust is one inch below that of the dress, your underbust usually fits, especially given that most of these dresses are cut with shallow bust areas.

I'm 5'4" and inverted triangle with a wide ribcage and a large bust (currently over 100cm, DD cup). Chiffon a-line high waisted jsks look amazingly great on me and actually balance out the top-heaviness. Whereas dresses with natural waists or just lower waistlines draw attention to the fact I'm very disproportionate on top. I can't explain it, but those tend to be the most flattering dresses on me.

Given I do have to usually wear a very good bra or use an underbust corset to get my boobs up in the bodice properly.

High waisted dresses that aren't chiffon and a-line look wonky on me though as-is. Usually I coordinate them with a bolero to balance it out.

Hey girls, I want to join a lolita com and get into the fashion. But I don't really know where to start its a bit overwhelming. I might try to just buy my first dress instead of making one but I heard that's frowned upon in some circles. Plus I'm really scared since I'm biologically male but identify as genderfluid. Seems like some lolitas don't like male lolitas or are wary of them since some turn out to be creepers. Blah such a shitty situation. I just wanna be a pretty lolita princess. What should I do to join a comm in good standing without being looked down on or hated for who I am? :/

>> No.8607571

>>8607565
1. Don't say you want to be a pretty lolita princess. If you look male and say that, it sounds creepy even if you didn't mean it to.
2. Don't use emoticons on 4chan/cgl in general. Some people will give you hell for it.
3. General advice: If you have a male body, you need to keep yourself well-groomed (like don't ignore your stubble, let extremely hairy legs show, etc). Preferably learn makeup skills, learn to style your hair, wear a wig if your natural hair is lacking, basically what all lolitas should do.

I also generally recommended you buy your first dress unless you have good sewing skills. Most people who have never seen the construction of a lolita dress in person miss the mark when making one. The first attempt is rarely good, it usually takes trial and error.

You can post your first WIP coordinates here on cgl if you are afraid to ask the local comm for advice. Most comms are generally welcoming as long as you're genuinely interested in the fashion and willing to take constructive criticism.

Not sure how feminine you look/dress already, but definitely practice and get your makeup skills as good as possible and don't cheap out on products.
And make sure you nail all the basics. Get a good petti, shoes, etc. Having a good grasp of the elements of lolita fashion is what will set you apart from sissies who just throw on a cheap frilly pink dress from Ebay to embrace their inner little girl.
Also I recommend starting with gothic or AATP type style, because you can pair it with more of a visual-kei/androgynous look. Sweet is the hardest for males to pull off unless you have a really feminine face or you're a makeup wizard.

>> No.8607585

Where on earth is it frowned up to buy your dress instead of making one? It's actually the exact opposite. Every newbie who makes their first dress looks like shit. Lolita is a lot about brand clothes anyway.

Hey! Another brolita here, just figure I could help out.

1) You're in a tough situation because Lolita is already a fringe group. You're a male wanting to dress in lolita, so you are going to be a fringe of a fringe. Being at least slightly out of place comes with the turf. I'm not trying to bring you down, I'm just being honest.

2) With that in mind, you are going to be held to a higher standard than everyone else. That's what happens to any outsider. So brush up! Devour FYeahLolita, cruise Lacemarket on the daily and watch makeup tutorials on the reg. Practice, practice, practice! For most female lolitas, the outfit-to-body-type rules are slightly flexible. For us they are ironclad. In the beginning you will need to ask online a lot for help with your coords and that's OK. Just listen and apply what you hear.

3) Be honest to yourself about your identity and motivations, but also be considerate to others when you think about voicing them. Unless you are pat of the extremely lucky genetic few, odds are that you will rarely be mistaken for female. People tell me that I'm 'good' at dressing up (I've been regularly dressing up for over five years), but I can count the number of times people thought I was a biological female on one hand. I'm assuming you're not trans (I'm not either). As for motivations: Yes, there is a sexual element to my crossdressing and yes, if someone asks me directly I will answer them honestly (because I'm not a liar). However, I don't tell people all about that (especially strangers) because it makes people uncomfortable, and reasonably so. Everyone is in this for different reasons, some are more socially palatable than others, but that's no reason to not conduct yourself with dignity.

>> No.8608481

>>8608478
4) Comms are an interesting place but they're not the end all be all. I don't visit my local comm much because I simply don't have much in common with them outside of a mutual love of frills. I go out for lolita tea with my girlfriend and other con-friends who are into it because that works better for me personally. Go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated.

5) Unless you are a professional tailor then you should not be sewing your own lolita dresses. They are extremely complex and very work intensive. Start with Bodyline or with some bargain finds on Lacemarket and work your way up.

6) You're probably taller than most girls, this will encourage you to slouch in order to bring your height down to a more 'acceptable' level. Do not, it makes you look like a frumpy mule. Stand up straight and be proud.

7) Make sure you wear a petticoat. The silhouette is everything in lolita. Every time someone wears a nice OP without a petti, a beautiful angel dragged off its cloud and shot in the face.

8) Invest in a corset. A real one with steel bones. Silhouette is everything!

9) Be as beautiful as you can be and don't get caught up comparing yourself to everyone else. That's how people get body image issues and I hear those suck

You have some generally good points, but online brolitas seem to be held to a lower standard if CoF is anything to go by. People absolutely fawn over sub-standard coords, getting 100's of likes that a female would get maybe 50 or less for. Look at the latest beard-chan as an example. All because of thirsty women.

Even though you don't tell people that crossdressing is a kink for you, it still makes me pause. I had a bad experience where a kinky crossdresser forced it on me without my consent. I just don't trust any kinky crossdressers now. I hope you don't subject anyone to sitting beside you while having a boner under your dress.

>> No.8608729

>>8608635
Ah, I've never actually hung out on CoF, I'm just basing it on what I've seen IRL (which could be off base).

As for your own experiences, whoever forced their kinks on you... The problem isn't their particular sexual hang ups. The problem is that they're a complete peice of shit (at best).

As for 'subjecting' people to me having a boner (frankly, that's a rather strange turn of phrase): the state of my dong at any point in time is between me and whomever I'm dating. Everyone else can fuck off.

tbh this.
Wear a dress, if you don't have actual and persistent dysphoria and aren't planning on doing anything about it, don't be genderfluid.
Expand on your gender, don't say "I feel like being feminine today so I must be a girl!"
Ain't nothing wrong with a dude in a dress.

I can understand how this can happen. I nearly had this happen myself, during a period where I was very stressed due to a close family death and sent out two packages at once in a daze. Once I got home, I realized I couldn't remember if I had put the right labels on the right package, because I was sort of working on autopilot and not paying as close attention as I should have. I felt like an idiot (I was an idiot) and immediately tried to stay as informed as I could on the status of the packages until one arrived to the first person who left feedback saying he (thankfully) got the item he received. From then on I learnt my lesson to pay more attention even when going through stressful periods, but some may only be learning this just now. That aside, if they themselves didn't mail the packages, they may have had someone else do it who accidentally messed it up.
If they have all positive feedback, I would cut them some slack if everything is followed through as it should be, with good timing, though maybe give lower star ratings. If things take longer than they should or more fishy things pop up, definitely figure out what's going on and leave them neutral or negative if needed. If you need to you can always go through Paypal and open a claim.
