Truth. I'd post an actual group picture of the comm in all its janky glory but it would start a witch hunt. A year or two ago someone posted some secrets using photos from the group and the admins flipped their shit and went into full-on helicopter parent mode. Photos of meets can only be posted in the "photo society" group and there has to be documented proof that you've gone to at least three meets before you're allowed to join it. If a group photo from there ended up on here it would start more shit than is necessarily worth it.

I'm from >>8617018 and it gets really hard to plan meetups with a big group. this is from our biggest meetup of the year (not the biggest turnout we've had, but definitely top 5) but even are regular meetups it can be really hard to find a space for 20 or so people. we usually end up going to the same cafe and park because they're some of the only places that can accommodate our large group.

being big isn't necessarily better. It's a lot of fun meeting new people all the time and always having tons of people to talk to, but you lose a lot of freedom to have lots of different kinds of meets. I don't know, I love my comm either way, but there's a lot of things I kind of miss from being a small tightly knit group. it's all preference I guess.

Might depend on the area, but I would assume that for the SF Bay area com, it kind of splinters into mini-coms based on location and where people can meet. From what I've seen, a lot of it is "come if you can make it," so we have a variety of people coming to a variety of meets. The plus side is that there are always events going on.

I get your point, though, because as people splinter, they probably become closer to people who are geographically closer to them and you lose that sense of unity.

I can definitely see that, but it kinda bums me out when we have like 30 people rsvp for an event and only 7 of them show up and it's sorta depressing. I feel more empowered when we're in a larger group instead of just a bunch of random girls in frilly dresses in a cafe.

Has someone else this "problem" in their comm? I live in an area with many Lolitas, however we barely have Meetups anymore, because everytime someone organizes one, they get so annoyed by the ungreatful people, that they don't want to do it anymore. Examples: 50 people want to come to a Meetup, but actually only 20 people come. Or people ask 5 minutes before the Meetup where the meeting point is, even if it is the same all the time. I also used to organize many Meetups, but currently I tell myself don't do it, I will just get frustrated again...

Yes, a lot of the girls who used to organize meetups in my comm (myself included) are either taking a break or completely turned off from planning them anymore because of how flakey and ungrateful the community members have been recently. Like I'm talking getting the hosts stuck with their bills on multiple occasions. It's frustrating and no one seems to care, so why plan anything?

I always see posts like this in the comm discussion thread so I think that this is an issue in a lot of communities. I've met Thomas a few times. I know he comes across as being creepy initially, but he just has severe social anxiety. I've had the pleasure of talking to him through chat online and he's actually very polite and well-spoken. He started out wearing Milanoo silk ballgowns and a Hastune Miku wig, and was extremely receptive to constructive criticism. At the time I believe he only has two or three dresses, and one or two decent wigs, but he works on building his wardrobe and he's genuinely interested in the community. I know it can be difficult or awkward to interact with him, but I promise you that if you're patient, give him time to articulate his sentences, and relax around him, you'll find him much more pleasant to be around. He relaxes, isn't afraid to make jokes, and speaks more clearly. If you'd like to reach out to him, I know he's always happy to make more friends in the comm. He's a big roller coaster fanatic, and is a pretty big gamer.

And this goes for anyone in the comm, really. Rather than complain about people, reach out and do your part to improve our comm.

He's a bit odd at first but nice and polite and otherwise pleasant if you can get past the initial impression. The one on the left is his friend and a dealer. They end up traveling to a lot of conventions (via car). Both nice friendly people. I honestly don't really get a creep vibe from them and they're honestly interested in the fashion and follow up on it, trends, and things going on even if their outfits aren't up to date with trends.

They're also originally bred for high energy and aggressiveness as they were intended as pest control. Chase, catch, and destroy rats. Bigger dogs were meant more for hunting, so more of a 'catch that thing and bring it to me with minimal damage' so they actually tend to be more chill as long as they get enough exercise.

Exactly. I have a small wardrobe and often I don't really realize that things work for me or not until I actually wear them out and about or see myself in pictures.
I've learned a lot! This year alone I learned that if I want to wear my real hair with coords, I needed a cuter haircut (done) and that skirts annoy me because the one that I own rides up as the day goes on and looks awful.
Also, depending on the type of meet sometimes I'll wear something that is less flattering just so I don't care if I ruin it or not.
I'm more than happy to have people help me or offer advice. Its how you learn.

That's your perogative anon. Personally, I don't find it to be helpful. Not only that, but not everyone wears a fashion like this to look amazing all the time or be competitive. It's not pageantry. They're having fun in a niche hobby that looks insane one way or another to most outsiders. You look like a sissy. So what. Some middle-aged woman on the street is going to ask you why you're dressed like Mary Poppins in even a refined "superior" toned down classic coordinate.

I think people take this fashion and what other people wear too damn seriously. Yes, I get that being seen with people who are not up to par with your standards can be embarrassing or cringe-worthy. But in the end, does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? If you have high standards, hold yourself to those standards. But you can't force, demand, or expect everyone else to be on your level. Personally, I find it to be more helpful to get to know these types of people or even befriend them (if of course, you can get along with them and aren't annoying personalities) and let your coordination or experience speak for itself.

Just remember that the next time you're on the street, someone is going to call you out for dressing like a fucking weirdo because who the hell wears beautiful dresses in 2015 outside special occasions, let alone petticoats. They don't care how well coordinated you are, some people get the same kneejerk reactions to even the best of us.
